FREEDOM News:

HELP FLORIDA BLOOD SERVICES - Demand Outpaces Collection

Anyone who has faced the problem knows the worst time for a blood shortage
to exist is when your own friends or loved ones - or you - are in need.
The Church of Scientology, whose membership is 100 percent drug-free, will
participate in 4 blood drives this year to do it's part to provide blood to
the community. The first blood drives took place last March & June.
Florida Blood Services parked a six-bed mobile blood unit on the lot across
from the Fort Harrison religious retreat and more than 100 Scientologists
donated.

>Hooray for this.. Anyone who contributes in this manner has my applause.
Now, I wish the Clearwater church would take the lead from the Dallas Org
and do something charitable to the HIV community in Pinellas County. It
sure would dispel alot of the notions that Scientology policy maintains a
hateful & bigoted viewpoint of person's living with AIDS (whic is very
contradictory to the comments made to me by Mike Rinder & other church
members in the past).

Yes, but I'm sure the Co$ would much prefer to collect the blood of SP's in
rusty buckets. Not content with wanting their follower's minds, now they
want their blood for a PR exercise. Which is what this is. That it might
actually HELP someone is surely somewhere down the list of priorities for
the action.

Also "100 percent drug-free"? The same way LRH was drug free? If we belive
Nibs/Bent Corydon, the only way you could use the words "drug" and "free"
in relation to LRH was because he didn't pay for them himself!

Whether it's for PR or not, the fact that Scientology is willing to
coordinate a blood drive IS an important contribution of blood resources
that will be put to good use. Blood donations have dwindled in many cities
because of the AIDS scare that many foster, so I still say Scientology
blood is better than no blood at all.

Do those that need the blood a favor and keep your bigoted intolerance to
yourself.

I am neither bigoted, intolerant nor scornful of those who have donated
thier blood. I agree there is a need for blood donations, and that this
move will surely save lives. Any individual who donates their blood
certainly deserves the thanks and praise of the community.

HOWEVER, I questioned the fact the MOTIVE is not care or consideration for
the injured or sick, but the PR value to Co$. (A grouping not generally
known for its attitude of benevolence to the 'wog' world.) I stand by this
questioning.

ANYONE who seeks to derive publicity from their 'good works' is open to
questions on their motivation, be it a politician or a priest or whomever.

Ask the family of Odhran Fortune about more of $cientology's 'good works'.

Once, again, in case you misunderstand me, I was not criticising the
donation of blood or those who made the donations, but those who look for
the publicity angle in what should be a private charitable act.

Thank you.

This isn't a perfect world, Obi Ron. There's a number of celebrities that
do benefit causes only because it put's them into the spotlight. It's good
PR and extra cash. What's the difference?

That's very true and the world is full of them, not just Scientology. But,
screw what people do and the reason they do it. If David Miscavige's green
blood helped one person to live, I'd be thanking him. Na nu, Na nu!!

Been there, done that.

Thank you for clarifying. I agree. But money is so tight nowadays,
charities can't pick & choose when it comes to funding or getting blood
contributions. I still get calls from blood banks asking me to come in
after being HIV+ for 2 years now. The need is there and if I could tie
Miscavige down and drain his entire body of it's blood source, I'd do it.
