Re: Mathilde Krim Declaration

Dear Board Member:

I am writing to bring to your attention a declaration recently filed by
your organization chairman, Mathilde Krim, against an openly gay attorney
in Los Angeles, Graham Berry. Ms. Krim signed this declaration at the
behest of a private investigator for the Church of Scientology and it's
parent organization. the Religious Technology Center. The Scientology
organization is known internationally for acting very litigiously towards
it's critics and former church members, and for hiring paid private
investigators to misrepresent facts in order to maliciously discredit &
ridicule those perceived by them as their enemies. Thier policies in
causing injury to critics are well founded in their own doctrines.

On February 4, 1997, Mathilde Krim, identifying herself as the Chairman &
co-founder of AmFAR, thus alluding to AmFAR's official. endorsement,
signed
a declaration against openly gay Los Angeles attorney Graham Berry. Graham
Berry is known internationally as an attorney whom has represented former
members and the victims of Scientology intimidation. Thus, he has been the
focus of many personal and very derogatory attacks on his character, his
sexual orientation which Scientology considers to be "deviant", and his
insightful ability to not be affected by such intimidation, AS an HIV+ &
gay man, I attest to this man's credibility. Ms. Krim's decision to
ridicule Mr. Berry through means of this declaration, which has been
posted
on the internet, has garnered worldwide attention, and threatens to
portray
the AmFAR organization in a detrimental light, deserves remedy by your
Board of Directors.

You should be aware that numerous individuals whom facilitate the
Internet/World Wide Web have expressed thier profound repugnance to Ms.
Krim's actions, and the publication thereof, whose only intent is to
slander and discredit an individual they [Scientology] believe to be a
major force in
the exposure of their nefarious activities & eventual downfall as an
organization. Ms. Krim's actions are being brought to the attention of the
worldwide media as result of this "anonymous" posting, a favored (yet
cowardly) tactic of the Scientology organization.

Attached are copies of postings relevant to this matter. I believe, at the
very least, that AmFAR owes Mr. Graham Berry an apology since Scientology
has jumped on the bandwagon to draw a connection, no matter how errant it
to be, an AmFAR endorsed condemnation upon attorney Graham Berry.

I have attached a business card of Mr. Berry so that you may contact him
directly.

Sincerely yours,

Garry Scarff
