"During daylight hours, her life, aside from work, seems to be consumed
mostly with friends, family, and the responsibilities of being a single
mom. She and Cruise have joint custody of their children (Bella, 12,
and Connor, 10), which means the kids inevitably spend quite a bit of
their time on movie sets.

Kidman says, "They're incredibly willing and easy, and they have a very
different life. They just do, and I can't pretend that it's anything
else. It's highly unusual. I hope it results in highly unusual children
who still have a very strong sense of who they are or where they can
always turn, where their protection is. I hope that's what they walk
away with. Or walk forth with. Never 'walk away'!"

When Kidman said this to me (writer Ingrid Sischy) at the beginning of
May, I thought about those bizzarely exhibitionistic pictures of her ex
nuzzling the neck of Katie Holmes that had been recently sent out on
the wire services all over the world.

It's funny how Tom Cruise, who used to be Mr. Don't-Show-Don't-Tell, is
now a paparazzo's meal ticket. Even though I felt creepy bringing the
images up, I knew Kidman must have seen them, and I broached the
subject by pointing out that plenty of people thought the pictures had
been engineered as a publicity stunt to hawk the stars' upcoming
movies.

Kidman is too careful, and too disciplined, to have addressed the
subject directly. But when I broadened the discussion to the whole
question of set-up photography - whether in show business or in
politics (remember Bill and Hillary Clinton getting frisky on the
beach?) - Kidman had this to say: "In terms of your life. if you start
to exploit it, then what's real, and what's not? What's yours and
what's isn't?"

Kidman talks and behaves like a true artist. Despite the impression one
may have of her as cradled by the smoothest arms of the entertainment
machine (she is represented by the Creative Artists Agency - who also
represents Cruise and Holmes - and publicity flack Pat Kingsley, owner
of PMK/HBH - whom Cruise fired last year and replaced with his sister),
her choices have been much more spontaneous and intriguing than would
fit the typical Hollywood master plan for "the career."

Kidman has enormous respect for the counsel of others when she trusts
them, as she does her agents Kevin Huvane and Rick Nicita - who also
represent Cruise and Holmes - but ultimately she makes her decisions
instinctively.

(Note: Her agent Rick Nicita is the husband of Paula Wagner, the
long-time producing partner of Cruise at Cruise/Wagner Productions.
Wagner was formerly Cruise's agent at CAA.)

This question alludes to a recurrent Scientology theme raised amongst
critics, namely, that of the invasion of privacy. Scientology techniques,
training regimens and institutional policies such as the culling of PC
folders in search of incriminating evidence against disaffected members are
used as cult control mechanisms, effectively "turning souls inside out."

Specifically, Kidman addresses the cultural breakdown of the distinction
between the private and public self. The public exploitation of one's life
entails a sacrifice of the private self. This issue echoes so resonantly
because the methods of control deliberately deployed by Scientology share
many familiar albeit disguised features with those mechanisms in the
entertainment world that regulate the complex relationship between a
celebrity, the media and the legions of eyesdropping fans.

With the loss of the private self, either through commitment to Scientology
or more indirectly by virtue of the vicissitudes of constant public
attention, comes the collapse of intimacy, the inability to feel emotions
"privately" in a grounded and spontaneous fashion, to have a surefooted
sense of what is real and thereby true. This loss in turn undermines the
feeling of "ontological" security that accompanies any sense of making clear
distinctions between "what is mine" and "what is not-mine" or "who I am" and
"who I am not."

The ability to sort out this distinction underwrites the capacity a sound
sense of self. This, in turn, allows genuine connections with others.
Secure, distinctive selfhood comes from the establishment of boundaries. It
is cast into relief by differences, that is to say, one's relations with the
non-self. The world of the celebrity may eventually collapse into the domain
of the "not-me" to such an extent that a person becomes emotionally lost, an
orphan, handing over any sense of control over one's own life to others
because such personal control requires grounding enabled by some private
sense of who one really is. The vortex of identity confusion results in a
self-conscious manufacturing of often inappropriate emotional responses.
Since I don't know what to feel in the context of this encounter or
occasion, any synthetic display of affect seems as good as any other.

The parallel and mutually supportive effects of Scientology involvement and
living in the fishbowl of the entertainment industry certainly plays a role
in the recent bizarre, because it is so inappropriate, public behavior of
Tom Cruise. Cruise gives up considerable privacy by virtue of his engagement
with the Scientology cult. This contempt for the private self is further
highlighted (and its effects compounded) by the Cruise's style of public
interaction shaped by his current publicist, who happens to be his sister
and also a Scientologist. Cruise's former publicist, Pat Kingsley, had a
keen sense of discretion (and taste), appreciating the many reasons why a
person's public and private lives should remain distinct.

Garry Scarff is a deprogammer

Deprogrammer Garry Scarff assaults and stalks Barbara Schwarz on behalf
of most if not all of the anti-religious extremists. See
http://www.religiousfreedomwatch.org/extremists/index.html
He forges and defamed not just her but also Mark Rathbun or Mark de
Rothschild.

Joblesss bum, Earthlink terrorist, death treat maker Garry Lynn Scarff
from Hollywood California hates, harasses, stalks and lies about
Barbara Schwarz because she does not want him and he never will get a
chance with her. LAPD investigates Scarff under case no: 04-4693. He is
posting that the investigation against him is dismissed by some kind of
Commercial Crime Investigation Unit. Barbara Schwarz swore under oath
that he never filed a complaint against Scarff to this unit. It also
makes no sense. Scarff is a jobless guy, what has he to do with
commerce? Ask him to post the letter of dismissal under that specific
case number, which he can't as the case is not dismissed. If the
criminal investigation indeed would be dismissed, the LAPD would
provide him with a letter of dismissal mentioning that number. If LAPD
detective would indeed dismiss that investigation, they should share a
prison cell with Scarff. He continues to commit crimes against federal
and state laws. They can't let him come away with death threats,
forging, impostering and assaulting and maliciously defaming Barbara
Schwarz and others in public. He even got his criminal hands on Barb's
mail as he operates under her name.

Call the Salt Lake City jail or the Provo Mental Hospital: Barbara
Schwarz never set a foot in them. Scarff is criminally fabricating
that. She also never threatened or libeled anybody. If you read libel
and thread with her name on it, it will lead you right to Scarff's
computer in California.

If you ask me, Scarff is beyond his snapping point. One day he will
board Greyhound and harm her or kill her.

Phoenix New Times 1995-11-30

Attorney Kendrick Moxon says, "Garry Scarff is a liar." He says Scarff
was
a deprogrammer who became disenchanted with Cult Awareness Network
and came to Scientology begging to be used against his former
allies.

Moxon disagrees. "Scarff's own father says he's a scumbag."

In this article is also mentioned that Scarff made death threats. He
has not changed a bit.

There is also a poster on ARS, Orkeltatte, Ulf Brettstam who claims to
the a psychiatrists from Sweden. That man tries to analyze posters in
this newsgroup but strikingly never noticed that the Garry Scarff
produces one mentally sick posting after the other.

Scarff constantly posts a link to the controversial David Touretzky's
website to get back at Barbara.

http://www.religiousfreedomwatch.org/extremists/touretzky00.html

Touretzky webbed a nasty and wrongful article about Barbara Schwarz.
Here some links as to how credible the paper is:

Barbara Schwarz is a criminally convicted thief

Yap..yap..yap..barks the schizophrenic dog.

This posting comes to you from the notoriously insane and very stupid
Barbara Schwarz who lives in a fantasy world of her own. In addition to
consistently lying about being arrested and convicted for committing a
crime, but readily admitting to being ordered by the court to serve
community service (duh?), she yaps on about the global conspiracy
against her.

To this pathetic 49-year old nutcase whose mental illness prevents her
from being employed and has to be financially supported by her family
that keeps a safe distance from any physical contact with her, she
spends multiple hours of her time on a daily basis using the Internet
to harass, stalk, threaten, and curse her many victims.

Barbara Schwarz will one day, no doubt, become so frustrated and angry
at the world around her, she will strike out and serious injure, if
not, kill an innocent person.
