Just got home from our protest from 11am to 3pm on a warm sunny day.
There was a Gay Pride Parade just a few blocks from us at 11am, so
parking was ridiculously difficult. They also had a big festival in
the park nearby so we had tons more foot traffic than is normal for
that corner.
But I think the parking problem discouraged some protesters as we
only had 40 today, as opposed to 60 last time.
Lots of flyers were handed out. Lots of good conversations were
had. Channel 3 came by and did an interview.
While Scientology is on the 3rd floor of this office complex, there
appeared to be a video camera on a tripod in the first floor office.
You had to be in just the right spot to see it where there was light
coming through from the other side. I became fascinated by this,
wondering how Scientology could be using a first floor office to keep
an eye on us. The windows are tinted so I kept getting closer trying
to see. Finally I was close enough where I could see in, and the room
was empty except for that tripod. But then to the right I saw a guy
taking a photo of me! Heh. At that moment the cop said I was getting
too close, so I just left.
So definitely Scientology is monitoring the protest very closely.
One anon said he was followed to his car, so the rest of us decided to
all leave at once to make it harder for the Scienos to follow us all
at least.
All in all it was a fun day. The Gay Pride floats would head out
from the parade and go by. There was a small anti-gay protest in the
park someplace, but I didn't see it.
