Flag Stats- Analysis

No matter how much PR and hype exists, the hard evidence is that
Flag is not maintaining "unprecedented expansion".

When looking at these stats it is very important to note the time
span between Source Magazines and therefore the figuring of the
stats.

As you can see below the issuing of the Magazine is not consistent.

June 2001 Issue 134 572 [3 months]
Sept 2001 Issue 135 1603 [3 months]
Dec 2001 Issue 136 1368 [3 months]
Feb 2002 Issue 137 733 [2 months]
June 2002 Issue 138 1684 [4 months]

It would appear from looking at this that Flag has bounced back and
is producing the big numbers again but you have to realize that
Issue 137 reflects only 2 months production and Issue 138 reflects 4
months production.

If we divide this up by the number of months for an average
monthly stat, it would look like this.

April 2001 190
May 2001 190
June 2001 190
July 2001 534
Aug 2001 534
Sept 2001 534
Oct 2001 456
Nov 2001 456
Dec 2001 456
Jan. 2002 366.
Feb 2002 366
March 2002 421
April 2002 421
May 2002 421
June 2002 421

Ok now those are just raw numbers and don't reflect what is going
on.

When looking over the stats below there are really 3 sets of stats
that a Scn Exec would see just from knowing what all these course
completions mean.

There are the Processing or Auditing stats which would be number
of Clears, OT's and basic delivery of different Auditing Rundowns
to Paying Public.

One could even break that section down further and just look at
Clears and OT's made.

The next set of Stats would be Training stats. This would be
Courses delivered that made auditors, supervisors, word clearer,
and Execs.

The third set of stats would be the Div. 6 or New Public in stats.
These are usually the little courses designed to give people some
basic data about Scn. They are usually inexpensive. Flag never
really had much of a Div 6 because Flag doesn't really go after
brand new people. Flag's concentration is on Scientologists already
on the Bridge.

OK So lets look at A few of these Sets of Stats

TOTAL NUMBER OF COMPLETIONS CLEAR TO OT 7

This would include all these services.

Date Issue # Total Average monthly stat

Sept 2001 Issue 135 292 [3 months] Avg. 97
Dec 2001 Issue 136 238 [3 months] Avg. 79
Feb 2002 Issue 137 530 [2 months] Avg. 265
June 2002 Issue 138 483 [4 months] Avg. 121

Note: When I type this up I have nice neat columns but for some
reason they don't hold up when sending them in via the remailer.

So you can see that Flag did have a big jump in completions for
Clears and OTs made in the early part of 2002 "The Year of the
OT" but per the stats they have not kept the trend up and are going
back down again. This is quite interesting because the latest PR
from Church Management is all about how we must apply the
Affluence Formula.

The management is NOT in affluence but I believe they tell the
parishioners they are in Affluence or "upstat" so as to keep the
deluded ones from seeing the actual stats.

OK now lets look at the training stats.

This set of stats is calculated by adding all auditor completions and
prerequisites to becoming an auditor (such as the student hat).
Courses range from Dianetic Auditor Course to Class IX.

Date Issue # Total Average per month

Sept 2001 Issue 135 748 [3 months] Avg. 249
Dec 2001 Issue 136 596 [3 months] Avg. 199
Feb 2002 Issue 137 272 [2 months] Avg. 136
June 2002 Issue 138 548 [4 months] Avg. 137

In the training area you can see that overall the number of auditors
made is on a decline.

Now for more interesting numbers. The numbers below are part of
the training numbers above.

issue 135 136 137 138

Student Hat 89 36 13 35
Pro TR's 141 103 24 88
Upper Indoc TR's Course 131 118 22 80
Pro Metering Course 48 100 80 56

What are all these about???

If you look at the list of names that are connected to these numbers
here you will see that most (but not all) of these names are from
outer org (mostly Class V) staff.

This is part of a training line up.
The eequence is Student Hat, PRO TR's and Upper Indoc TR's and then
Metering Course

Some staff will have to do the PTS/SP course first and other staff
will stay on and do further training

The point is that the majority of these stats are NOT paying public
but are outer org staff being ordered to Flag to train. The outer orgs
do not have the money to pay for this training up front so they use
Training awards or the orgs are somehow put in debt to Flag and
have to pay weekly on the bill.

It's not totally a false picture of Flags production because Flag is
responsible for the training of the Class V org Staff but if you did
not know this you would think that Flag has loaded its course room
with paying public, all training to be auditors and it is just not the
case.

Bottom line: This is just a year and a half worth of stats. It doesn't
give the long term stat scene at Flag. A very nice person has sent
me some older Source Mags that I will be working on but I still
have many missing issues that would be needed to give an accurate
picture as to overall growth or contraction of Flag.

Right now all I can say is the stats are overall up from where they
were a year ago but they are not maintaining that "stellar range" the
C of S is bragging about. I do believe the stats went up because the
C of S "handled a backlog" meaning there were a bunch of Clears
and OT's off the bridge and a concerted effort was made to get
them on. That's been done and now the are left with beating the
same people over the head to do more courses.

Time will tell.

OH. MY. GOD.

Cerridwen, you rock so totally and completely that words cannot do you
justice.

This is FABULOUS, tremendous work.

May I put it up on my stats page?

Thank you SO much for the insight, the explanations, and the cold hard
numbers.

All praise to Cerridwen!

Awestruck,

Kristi

A few quick observations after plugging your numbers into a spreadsheet:

The completions with the biggest numbers:

356 Pro TR's
351 Upper Indoc TR's Course
284 Pro Metering Course
228 NEW PTS/SP COURSE
173 Student Hat
134 L 11
124 Havingness RD
121 Sunshine RD
120 SOLO NOTs CERTAINTY COURSE II
109 OT Preps
108 OT V
105 PTS/SP Course
104 Volunteer Minister Course

PTS/SP courses (original plus New) account for over 6% of total
completions.

Minister Courses - the Volunteer Minister Course plus the regular Minister
Course - account for 159 completions, or almost 3% of the total. The
regular Minister Course is notorious for being very short. The Volunteer
Minister course was being pushed heavily just before the end of last year
with a special offer for a free yellow VM jacket if you completed the
course by December 31.

Scrounging through my various magazines - ah, here we go:

"Complete the Volunteer Minister Course by December 31, 2001" and you get
a "Volunteer Minister's Field Jacket at no cost" (that is, at no EXTRA
cost - you still have to pay for the course).

Donation for the course: $250 (no discount for IAS members)
VM Course Pack; $15 (again, no discount)

The magazine says the course takes "1 week full-time, 3 weeks part-time".

Dang it ... wish I had time to crank up the charting software NOW, but I
guess it'll have to wait until this weekend ...

Very, VERY well done, Cerridwen.

Kristi

P.S. My totals disagree with yours by a grand total of 8:

Yours 1603 1368 733 1684 5388
Mine 1598 1365 734 1683 5380

... and I noticed a glitch right around the PTS RD line. Is there some
data missing right there?

Indeed, Cerridwen!
I know how it is to do such a job, it's
exhaustingly complex and long.

My notes about some parts:

Perhaps it's not exact: I'd rather say that the
ratio between div 6 people and other clients is
lower in Flag, because Flag serves mostly as a way
to make money by stealing other orgs clientele
once the first brainwash steps are sufficient to
get those paying insane sums.

Perhaps strange. People have usually holidays
there, so, it's bizarre that Flag is unable to get
them working on the scam bridge. Unless the
december stats are more reflected into the next
line here:

Did you check too for double completions? We saw
lots of them here and then, like from people
having attested clear three times at different
eras...

That shows as well indeed that outer orgs are
fully unable to send people travelling: indeed,
173 students for student hatting in one year and a
half is an extremely low level. Knowing that
student hat is a prerequisite for anything like
hatting on posts, it indicates a complete real
crash of the new publics and new staffs in.

Also, they have used it lots of times before,
calling it new age of tech or otherwise, so,
getting double completions for any levels or
grades, and getting people like Sarit Rosenberg,
an OT 8 Class VII auditor since some 20 years...
attesting OT 6 now... while being ill or just
after having been out of lines for years. (Sarit
Rosenberg was the CO of the CC Paris for years
with her husband).

It looks like it's probably a requirement for everyone who is on OT
Eligibility, or maybe everyone, period.

> Minister Courses - the Volunteer Minister Course plus the regular Minister

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these comps are staff. Back in the
70s or 80s sometime all staff were required to do the Minister Course,
if I recall correctly. Maybe it's part of the "Scientology is a
religion" push once again.

My guess is that a lot of the Pro TRs and metering course comps are
staff, also. Both Flag staff and outer org staff that were
sent/ordered to Flag for training. This tends to account for a lot of
Flag's training completions in general.

By the way, I noticed the KTL/LOC kick seems to be over. No Key to
Life/Life Orientation Course comps at the top of the list. Back in the
early 90s everyone was supposed to do these courses as their first
priority.

Everyone is the correct reply.

Have you ever heard of anyone in scientology,
having not had at least one SP/PTS course and/or
handling, after some times passed into the clam
scam?

(Listing & Nulling the question till you get the
only correct item, which is: "scientology" and/or
"its founder or upper [mis]-chiefs.")

Assuming for the moment that Scientologists actually *believe* the
hokum they preach... and I do, this makes a lot of sense.

Scientology is in a condition of Implosion, and per doctrine it *must*
be from some PTS state and a hidden SP. So, I'd expect them to be
running this course as obsessively as a nun in a porno doing a rosary.

And, thanks Cerridwen, great work. True data is hard to find in the
world of Hubbstats.

What Kristi said, and my own personal mucho t'ank'ee ma'am.
These figures, as they accumulate, will make for some great
charts :-)

<aside> Kristi, I haven't forgotten about the ANZO database -
a combination of technical glitches, globe-trotting laptops,
and project madness have got me delayed. <end aside>
