Normally, I would not post anything this self-serving but given the
fact I have been the target of an ugly, unrelenting smear campaign, it
is necessary that I counteract this with evidence that rather than
being the fringe person I am being misportrayed as, I am, in fact,
respected and endorsed by highly respected people in the scientific
community. Here is a letter from Professor of Clinical Psychology
Scott Lilienfeld that he has kindly given me permission to post that
he wrote to my Dean on my behalf when a certain person sent a letter
to my dean:

Dr. Lilienfeld wrote:
"I understand from Monica that Dr. [name deleted] has written a
lengthy letter of complaint [to her Dean] in response to her
criticisms of his therapeutic practices. I wish to offer my own
perspective on these matters. By way of background, I am a Professor
in the Department of Psychology at Emory University in Atlanta where I
have taught since 1994 (I received my Ph.D. in psychology from the
University of Minnesota in 1990, and was a faculty member at SUNY
Albany from 1990 to 1994). I am past president of the Society for a
Science of Clinical Psychology (Section 3 of the Clinical Psychology
Division of the American Psychological Association), recipient of the
David Shakow Award for Early Career Contributions to Clinical
Psychology from Division 12 of the American Psychological Association,
editor-in-chief of a peer reviewed journal (Scientific Review of
Mental Health Practice).

"I have been fortunate to get to know Ms. Pignotti through both formal
and informal interactions, primarily via e-mail and phone
correspondence and secondarily via academic conferences. In my
experience, she is a highly intelligent and intellectually curious
person with great academic integrity. She is also gutsy, and willing
to speak out when she observes therapeutic practices that are
potentially ineffective or harmful. But she bases her claims solidly
on the best available research evidence. Monica is well respected
among scientifically-oriented clinical psychologists, including some
of the field’s leaders.

"I wanted to offer my strong support of Monica Pignotti, whom I view
as a courageous scholar of considerable academic integrity.

Hey, Monica, I'll give you an endorsement too, though I'm just a
troublemaker cult critic.

I may find you a little uptight occasionally, but basically I consider
you a decent, upstanding person.

You might want to toss a little cognitive dissonance at Marty Rathbun
while you're at this. He needs all he can assimilate. ;-)

Thanks for your concern, but having the support of some of the top
clinical psychologists in the US, I am fine. The reason I post this is
that although my anonymous stalker has no credibility, he is using
classic propaganda techniques of repeating lies and focusing in on
events in my life in the distant past and this could be misleading for
people in my profession who are not familiar with the situation --
even highly intelligent people can be mislead by these sort of
tactics.

By the way, I assume you are aware that this is not OSA/Scientology --
these are cultists who are part of bogus attachment pseudotherapy
cults that I have been exposing. The CofS has much bigger fish to fry,
as I'm sure you're aware. With all the recent defections, going after
me would be a big waste of their resources.

Going after you, Monica, would offend the "Save the Whales" groups.
