SP Times letter, Let Universal redesign Clearwater bridge!

"It is time for the city of Clearwater to use its creative energies to
turn the many mishaps in the construction of the Memorial Causeway
Bridge to its advantage. It is time to call in the engineers from
Universal Studios to create a world-class attraction that could have
far-reaching benefits for all who seek the renewal of downtown Clearwater.

I see a bridge that falls every 25 minutes. Cars plummeting into the
water. Chunks of concrete falling on the existing causeway bridge. A
gasoline tanker exploding as the bridge slowly disintegrates and sinks
into Clearwater Harbor, only to be resurrected by cables and hydraulic
lifts after the amplified screams have ended.

Specially designed ferry boats would run parallel to the structure. A
plasma screen would feature Tom Cruise giving background on the bridge
and its troubled history, indicating that sinister forces hidden deep in
the universe are at work. Scientology members would hand out fliers
inviting people to visit the Fort Harrison Hotel while they wait for the
boats. New Starbucks coffee shops would open on the docks. T-shirts
would be sold declaring that the wearer survived a trip to Clearwater
Beach."
