BIRTHS
Jules Jazidan was born on June 9, 2005 in San Diego, California to
proud parents Susan and Patrick Jazidan.
MARRIAGES
Senora Rosario and Senor Mario Occhipinci of Caracas, Venezuela, are
proud to announce the marriage of their
daughter Paula Occhipinci To Cameron Alsop, son of Joy And Bob Alsop
of Melbourne, Australia.
The ceremony, which was conducted in both English and Spanish, was
held in the ASHO Chapel on August 2, 2005. The Rev. Maguliana Ovales
and Rev. Rob Prebilsky were in attendance. A reception was held
afterward in the ASHO Quad.
Cindy Howenstein and Daniel Levine were married on April 3, 2005 at
Celebrity Centre Dallas. Both Cindy and Dan are veteran
Scientologists. The minister in attendance was the Rev. Bill Dolaway.
GRADUATIONS
Taron Lexton, director of the Youth for Human Rights International
music video "UNITED", graduated as the valedictorian of his class at
Los Angeles Community College on June 7, 2005.
Taron attributes his success as a scholar to doing L. Ron Hubbard's
Student Hat course. Since its release, "UNITED", which has been viewed
by thousands, has gone on to win the Grand Jury prize at the New York
International Independent Film & Video Festival, as well as awards at
the Moondance Film Festival and other film festivals abroad.
DEATHS
Mary Elizabeth Ziff departed her body on Thursday, April 7, 2005,
after a long illness. Mary was a founding Scientologist and veteran
staff member for over 25 years.
Mary discovered Scientology as a child in Australia when she received
her first auditing. This was the launch pad to an adventurous and
productive life. Early in her career she had the honor of working
personally with the Founder.
Mary set an example of just how strong and indomitable a being can be.
The example she set of fortitude and determination inspired others,
and helped them to excel as well.
Mary made many lasting contributions to church dissemination and
marketing. She is survived by her husband David, and her son Cameron,
as well as her many friends, who look forward to her return.
Dina Goodrich departed her body on June 19, 2005 at her home in
Clearwater, Florida. Dina was on staff at the New York Org for many
years as an auditor and Supervisor.
She was a woman of many talents and many friends, and was known for a
generous nature and willingness to always help another (as well as a
famous cheesecake recipe).
She will be missed by her family and friends, and we all wish her well
and look forward to meeting up with her again soon.

Hello, my name is Mary Ziff, and here is a little bit about myself:
I must be one of the luckiest people in the world. First I recovered
without physical handicaps from infantile paralysis (polio) in 1952, due
to the very practical handling of my mother. Then in 1952, when severe
psychosamatic after-effects (nightmares, headaches, stomach troubles,
phobia, shyness and unhappiness), my once-again practical mother got me
some Scientology group processing. After a six-week program I was happy
for the first time I could remember, and no longer plagued with fears,
hallucinations or inexplicable aches and pains. I could do my own life and
concentrate on growing up, not in.
Years later, having worked through the many obstacles of my teenage
years, I fell in love with a young man greatly plagued with mental debris
as I had been. His psychotherapy was clearly making him more depressed and
hopeless. So I turned to a person in Scientology in Sydney, who promptly
taught me how to help my friend. Then I taught my friend how to help
himself which he promptly did. And I learned that living life was as
simple as fixing a leaky faucet—easy if you learn how to trouble-shoot,
and have a good manual.
I like to help people and have always found it more fulfilling to do
than to indulge myself.
