Scientologists are expected to spend much of their time in study, and I
understand that Scientology teaches classes in many "life skills" topics such
as communication and public speaking, but do they offer any courses in
remedial grammar and spelling?

If not, it just seems like something they might do well to consider :-)

The "student hat" course supposedly does that, as did their (to my
knowledge) now defunct "superliteracy" course.
Pretty much all these do is tell you that misunderstood words underlie all
failures or slowness to learn.
"Superliteracy" means spending weeks, perhaps months, studying the
definitions of words from the dictionary! This is called "word clearing".

Where are all the "superliterates" $cientology has produced? In the same
place as all their alleged Operating Thetans - in NONEXISTENCE!

Well, it seems that the only "superliterate" Operating Thetan around here is
Steve Layton / Tim Higgs (all the rest of us are either WOGS or SPs) and like
it or not, he represents the public face of Scientology here, and thus serves
as the shining example of, "what Scientology can do for you."

I try not to be any kind of "Grammar Nazi" but when I see the same mix-up
between words like "there"/"their"/ "they're" repeated over and over by the
same person, it makes me wonder sometimes (I think I had that down by the
third or fourth grade).

It's caused by being pressed for time.

You also have to take into consideration the audience on this newsgroup.

You're starting to sound more and more like Andrew.

Then again, maybe you are Andrew.
