-------------
A suppressive person is a person who seeks to suppress any
betterment activity or group. The suppressive person, also called
an antisocial personality, works to upset, continuously undermine,
spread bad news and denigrate other people and their activities.
While it has sometimes been said that a suppressive person is just
anti-Scientology, the fact is they oppose anyone doing better in
life. Such people are not always easy to identify, however, they
can be known by specific characteristics:
1. He or she speaks only in very broad generalities. "They say..."
"Everybody thinks..." "Everyone knows..."
2. Such a person deals mainly in bad news, critical or hostile
remarks, invalidation and general suppression.
3. The antisocial personality alters, to worsen, communication when
he or she relays a message or news.
4. A characteristic, and one of the sad things about an antisocial
personality, is that he does not respond to treatment or reform.
5. Surrounding such a personality we find cowed or ill associates
or friends who, when not driven actually insane, are yet behaving
in a crippled manner in life, failing, not succeeding.
6. The antisocial personality habitually selects the wrong target.
If A is the obvious cause, the antisocial personality inevitably
blames B or C or D.
7. The antisocial cannot finish a cycle of action. The antisocial
becomes surrounded with incomplete projects.
8. Many antisocial persons will freely confess to the most alarming
crimes when forced to do so, but will have no faintest sense of
responsibility for them.
9. The antisocial personality supports only destructive groups and
rages against and attacks any constructive or betterment group.
10. This type of personality approves only of destructive actions
and fights against constructive or helpful actions or activities.
11. Helping others is an activity which drives the antisocial
personality nearly berserk. Activities, however, which destroy in
the name of help are closely supported.
12. The antisocial personality has a bad sense of property and
conceives that the idea that anyone owns anything is a pretense,
made up to fool people. Nothing is ever really owned.
Fortunately, such individuals are a very small percentage of the
population. But because society as a whole has not had any means to
identify them, the amount of havoc wreaked by the antisocial
personality throughout the centuries is incalculable.
Virtually all the turmoil and conflict in an individual's life can
be traced to contact with such personalities. Individual men and
women can usually sort out their differences through communication
if they are not adversely influenced, often unknowingly, by an
antisocial personality attempting to inflame, instead of resolve,
conflicts.

This is one of the better examples of why critics do not like
Scientology.

Here goes...pay close attention.
>1. He or she speaks only in very broad generalities. "They say..."
>"Everybody thinks..." "Everyone knows..."
So do many nice people I know who are generalizing about things. What
is wrong with plural pronouns?
>
>2. Such a person deals mainly in bad news, critical or hostile
>remarks, invalidation and general suppression.
So, any critic of Scientology is a supressive person? And
Scientologists are warned never to talk to an SP? Is it beginning to
be clear about why critics are irritated with this? (This is the
linchpin of the rest of the list, remember it)
>
>3. The antisocial personality alters, to worsen, communication when
>he or she relays a message or news.
>
SO critics can not be believed to be telling the truth. We just
fluster and blow smoke and all?
>4. A characteristic, and one of the sad things about an antisocial
>personality, is that he does not respond to treatment or reform.
>
What treatment did you have in mind? A treatment that stops a critic
from criticizing? CoS would like that.
>5. Surrounding such a personality we find cowed or ill associates
>or friends who, when not driven actually insane, are yet behaving
>in a crippled manner in life, failing, not succeeding.
So anyone who associates with a critic or supports them is also on the
black list. This is getting good, no?
>
>6. The antisocial personality habitually selects the wrong target.
>If A is the obvious cause, the antisocial personality inevitably
>blames B or C or D.
>
The critic then can not possibly be criticizing you. Deflect all
criticism based on this. Real good stuff. Any person criticizing you
is really not criticizing you. That's logical (not)
>7. The antisocial cannot finish a cycle of action. The antisocial
>becomes surrounded with incomplete projects.
I don't even know what to do with this...
>8. Many antisocial persons will freely confess to the most alarming
>crimes when forced to do so, but will have no faintest sense of
>responsibility for them.
Sounds like what happens if an innocent person is forced to produce a
confession for a crime not committed by that person, but that doesn't
make them SP.
>
>9. The antisocial personality supports only destructive groups and
>rages against and attacks any constructive or betterment group.
>
Oh yes, all the more reason to never listen to a critic, never get an
opposing viewpoint to test your viewpoint on reality. They are only
out to get you, not show you an alternative interpretation or
viewpoint.
>10. This type of personality approves only of destructive actions
>and fights against constructive or helpful actions or activities.
>
So a critic is never any good, and can never be expected to do any
good, so don't even try communicating with them?
>11. Helping others is an activity which drives the antisocial
>personality nearly berserk. Activities, however, which destroy in
>the name of help are closely supported.
>
So you tell people that a critic is not trying to help them out of
danger. If a kid is about to jump off a wall and the parent says,
'Don't, you'll hurt yourself', he is not trying to help the kid but is
trying to destroy the kid's self-confidence or something? Come On!!!
>12. The antisocial personality has a bad sense of property and
>conceives that the idea that anyone owns anything is a pretense,
>made up to fool people. Nothing is ever really owned.
>
So anyone who debates a copyright issue with you is an SP, no matter
the circumstances? Is that what this was meant to address? Or the
issue that religions don't copyright religious rites and materials and
cover religious services with trade secret status? So anyone who
wonders and asks why this is is a critic and an SP.
>Fortunately, such individuals are a very small percentage of the
>population. ...., by an antisocial personality attempting to inflame, instead of resolve,
>conflicts.
I would never tell anyone which religion to follow, that is your
freedom. And if you read this list with my comments and still feel
this policy is peachy, then by all means continue along your chosen
path. But anyone who tells you that opposing viewpoints come only
from bad people should set an alarm bell off in your head!!!
