We are all familiar with hypnotism as a downer. This is where the
hypnotist places the subject into a trance by narrowing his attention
until he is only aware of what the hypnotist wishes him to focus upon.
The subject becomes relaxed and is counted down into a trance rather
like a light sleep.
This is why we find it easy to identify the hypnotism in Dianetics.
So what is hypnotism? Hypnotism is simply the act of narrowing
attention. It is quite possible to be hypnotised while running around
like a mad thing. The point is not the level of physical activity but
the narrow focus of the hypnotised individual.
We see this clearly in stage hypnotism (LRH was a talented stage
hypnotist). The hypnotised individual can be made to jump up and down,
shout or do any number of things without leaving their state.
We can therefore say that hypnotism is an 'upper' as well as a
'downer'. This is where a person is engaged in furious action but his
thoughts are just as narrowly focused as a person in the deepest
trance. This is the hypnotism of the Tone 40 individual. It is
actually more dangerous than Dianetics because such an individual
believes his narrow focus helps him get the job done. The Tone 40
individual will therefore maintain the hypnotic focus for months or
even years.
The result is a loose cannon. An individual full of passion and energy
but incapable of true reason. A Tone 40 person will react with fury at
every obstacle or contradiction and may well become violent. We see
this in Tommy Davis and in the violent culture of the Sea Org. We
probably also see this in the suicide bomber and any truly dangerous
person.
A person in Dianetic 'revery' is quite harmless- as most people are
when tranquilized- but a person in Tone 40 is infinitely dangerious.
Unfortunately for you we have this thing called the Auditor's Code...

This is actually interesting as you have not understood even what Tone
40 is. Purposely you are enforcing a false presentation here about
this matter, or is it ignorance?
RR
inow *thats interesting...

In stead of playing the arrogant asshole again, you could also have
linked to the Tone Scale:

You're welcome. Much obliged.

"You mocked up your own reactive mind, you mocked up your BTs and you
mocked up your past lives.
Those ARE the EPs (End Phenomenons) of scientology.
L. Ron Hubbard told you so. This is what you are paying for, in no
uncertain terms. Hubbard makes it very clear all the way "UP" the
bridge.
He even told you he was selling you a bridge."

The usual 'politeness'... That scale doesn't explain the
characteristics of Tone 40.
RR
Right, there is so much more to Scientology than these guys think,RR.
And L. Ron Hubbard wasn't a hypnotizer, neither on or off stage.

Give the guy a break. I think he mispelled "hypnotize." Surely he must have
meant "hypocrite."

Excellent post. Well thought out and logical. I think you're onto something.

Tone 40 is simply the act of impersonating a Dalek and repeating
oneself.
The definition of hypnotism has been tweaked in the last century, so
it's probably not fair to judge hubbards saying scientology doesn't do
it, when since he said such, the definition has changed; and nade
almost meaningless, I might add. What isn't hypnotic under the newer
definition?

Oh; you mean like when you're working?!

Have you personally observed this?

What do you think is the best a person can hope for?
I'm starting to wonder what your deal is. Whats w/you? Wheres you're
dog in this fight? What gives? Whats your issue? Where you comin
from?
Slarty,
'Cleverness' in debate is a Scientology charictaristic.
Sincerity is a charictaristic of those who are truely out. It feels
good to be sincere. I would advise you to adopt it as well.
