THE 15th anniversary of the annual Saint Hill International Arts
Festival took place last week. The five-day festival was hosted in the
grounds of Saint Hill Manor, with hundreds of participants and guests
from 12 different countries including Austria, Switzerland and Egypt,
to Canada, USA and South Africa.
Artists of all ages joined in the activities, which included workshops
in singing, dancing, painting, poetry and filming.
American TV and film star Jenna Elfman, from the TV series Dharma and
Greg and the film Keeping The Faith, gave a seminar on the subject of
"aesthetics and ethics". She also painted the first strokes on the
Youth for Human Rights mural.
On Sunday, at the grand finale concert, the festival's executive
producer, Sheila Gaiman, read out a message from R 'n' B legend Chaka
Khan, who encouraged artists to create, despite writer's or artist's
blocks, and to push on through any barriers.
One of the most popular performers of the evening was the concert
pianist Mario Feninger. He played pieces by Scarlatti and Chopin and
told anecdotes on the composers' lives. Following his performance, he
was presented with a Lifetime of Creativity award.
This event has NOTHING to do with Scientology! Or .... ?

P.S.:
when I googled for "Mario Fenninger" and "Giovanni Franchi", two of the
artists who "performed" at the "Saint Hill Arts Festival" guess what
results came up first.....
Mario Fenninger - Scientology Service Completions.

Giovanni Franchi - Scientology Service Completions.

Isn't that "cute"....

rememrbers me when I was one of the 80 "artists" exposing in Versailles Palais
des Cngrès (1979 I believe); that was when the cult had its largest ever meeting
in France. We were 1500-2000 people there (not all of them clams). Many others
had come from DK, Germany, UK (Jane Kember included). And that exhibition was'nt
great at all. One of the only good artists was, if my memory serves, Michael
Pattinson.
Could you confirm, Michael?

> Correct spelling is Feninger, not Fenninger... 1810 vs 33 hits on
> Google.
He's so famous that not even Scientology can get the spelling of his name
right, he's called Feninger in some publications where he's trotted out as
a "celebrity", Fenninger in others.
I actually tried to find out who this mysterious "celebrity" was (and
discovered the spelling confusion about his name) when I was reading the
"Scientology - Effective Solutions" brochures a while back. I wondered why
I'd never heard of this internationally famous pianist. The piano isn't
exactly my favourite instrument, but I think that I follow classical music
closely enough to at least recognize the names of pianists who are really
famous. To give an idea of how famous he is: his name gets less than 2000
Google hits, for both spellings. I just googled on three randomly chosen
names of pianists, just the three first ones that popped into my head. Here
are the results:
Angela Hewitt: about 183,000 results.
Murray Perahia: about 442,000 results.
Andras Schiff: about 509,000 results.
In other words, he's the perfect example of a Scientology celebrity:
someone nobody except his family and friends has ever heard of.
