Nicole Kidman clams up about Scientology

Nicole Kidman iced over when British reporter Andrew Marr brought up
"one of the things you haven't talked about before" on his BBC show.
That topic was her ex-husband's religion.
"Scientology," said Marr. "A lot of people would say it is a bullying
cult."
Kidman stumbled over her response before deciding she wasn't going to
give one.
"I just don't . . . This is just so not . . ." she said. Then, "I'm
here to publicize 'Nine.' If I was here to do an expose on myself then
I'd be like, 'Let's go,' but I have no interest in discussing any of
that."
"You don't want to talk about Scientology?" Marr persisted.
"No, I'll talk about 'Nine,'" said Kidman.

I saw Nine on Broadway. It was okay, but I don't think it was in need
of a movie treatment.
Kidman should get a clue, that if she started talking about Cruise
making her to undergo Scientology brainwashing, NINE would indirectly
get tons of publicity.
I think it is one aspect of her personal life that would be a public
service for her to reveal. Someone should write a musical about HER
life with Cruise, just as NINE was written about Fellini. More
interesting I think.
She rode Cruise and Scientology to partly help her own career, and
she's doing fine. It worked. People noticed she's a good actress, just
as they are noticing Katie Holmes is a semi-talent.
Wouldn't a musical about Cruise be great? How he got on the Scilon
boat with Mimi Rogers and then all his following wives were made to
board the spaceship to planet crazy cult to be accepted?

Yeah, but her two first kids are Scientologists. So even if there
weren't some type of gag clause in their divorce settlement, she'd
hardly want to antagonize the kids.

Well, nothing too terrible is happening to Connor and Isabelle, I
suppose. Don't hear too much about their hopes and dreams. The girl
doesn't register with me at all. The boy reminds me of Tom, in that odd
way that adopted kids sometimes really resemble their adoptive parents.
Hopefully their big dreams don't include joining the Sea Org.

that was sensible of her...why should she step into the dirty sheep
dip of her ex husband while out promoting
her killer films.

With all the media attention this story is getting....lots of google
alerts since it surfaced....I guess the media is trying to make some
kind of point. But have any of them spelled out exactly what the
"point" is?

I don't know what point they are making either. Hopefully,
interviewers will catch on to the idea that asking stars about
Scientology gets them more attention than an interview about a dull
movie like NINE would otherwise receive.
I think it pricks at the bubble some of these stars are in, especially
if words like "criminal" and "bullying," are used. Hopefully, Nicole
will do more reading on her own about it.
If stars watched youtube videos of Susan Boyle, they can also watch
some of the Scilon videos our of curiosity, like the Tom Cruise video.

She's Australian, so maybe they connect her to the recent Xenophon
publicity. It's a stretch, but that's never been a problem for the
media.

Marr used to have street cred until he got sucked into the BBC. Since then
he's been a government shill just about, so his supervisors' attempts to
market him as some kind of great interviewer is just, well, boring.

She's attached to her adopted kids with Cruise and he's made it hell
for her over that, according to published reports. Also, there is no
doubt some legal contractual stipulation that she must adhere to or pay
greatly. Just the way business is done, particularly in $cientology
Hollywood.
