upset by this. I really want to tell this as factually as possible.
Two of the key people in this story are dead. One died as a direct
result of what occured. The other was a good Scientologist to the end
and in the end the cult sent her home to die.

This story brings up something that is different in the internet age.
Scientology attracts some unstable people. Squeezing them for money to
"help them" may cause some of them to get angry when they read the
truth about the scam of Scientology on the internet.
Before the internet, unstable people, could just blame themselves,
that they were too poor to get money for courses, and they forgot
about it. Now they can read things on the internet, get pissed off at
being taken for a dupe. They are desperate, vulnerable, have trouble
coming up with the dough, and then they learn they are being taken
advantage for their vulnerability. That's how Scientology works.
And you don't think more people shut out of Scientology by finances at
some point, won't start reading on the internet at some point?
Scientology should have a new "Xenu policy." If a member learns about
Xenu, Scientology abuses, or tidbits of truth about LRH on the
internet, and wants their money back, they should get a full refund.
That's the big sign they should put up in the org. That probably
wouldn't have helped in this case.
This case should make Scientology question whether the tactics they
use, of trying to get all members to recruit others, using unmitigated
exhortations of the wonders of Scientology is all that wise.
And Scientology is going to be getting a higher percentage of mentally
ill people among its new members, because sane people look for answers
on the internet, before they try nutty expensive things like
Sciloontology.
The collateral damage in this story -- the twin -- is one of those
things that I'm surprised doesn't happen a lot in Scientology. When
you join Scientology it is like you are allowing them to be your
parents, doctor, and police. They can lay one big guilt trip on you if
you "slip" and cheat with a stripper or do some drugs, and the
redemption costs.
There's another type of person who might be helped by that tight
control, someone who, as an adult, needs to feel there is someone
there to kind of punish or monitor them when they get in trouble. They
need the structure and control in their lives.
The surprising thing about this story of Good Twin's, is that it
doesn't happen more often.

nature. She is a caregiver and enabler. Playing rough isn't going to
come easy to her. She told me also that Rick had told his attorney
that the church had confiscated his gun and he wanted it back and
since he was declared he had nothing to lose by pressing charges
against me personally for keeping his gun. I told Marilyn I didn't
want his gun. I didn't care what happened to him at this point I just
wanted him off our lines so we could get on with it.
I gave his gun back to Marilyn and told her to do whatever she wanted
with it. She gave the gun back to Rick. She was mean and nasty to him.
She told him she wasn't going to just give him what he wanted in the
divorce. On a Friday in November of 2002 he shot himself in the head
at the beach in front of a group of teenagers. It turned out they were
friends of his daughter.
I heard it said by several Scientologists that it was the greatest

Scientology flattens your buttons, affect, self-esteem (since even all the
Wins belong to Scientology, Hubbard and the Tech), and bank account...

One of my first realizations when I started to look behind the curtain was
that I couldn't pinpoint the place in time or space when and where I decided
to protect Scientology at all costs. I know I didn't feel this way when I
became a member in 1975. I'm pretty sure I didn't have any such
consideration in 1976 when I first joined staff. I didn't think Scientology
needed my protection. I thought it could stand on it's own. I thought I
needed Scientology more than it needed me. It changed over time. Very slowly
very gradually. Like boiling a Frog.

BTW, I didn't know what an RSVP franchise is, so I looked it up. It's
a company that sells advertising in postcard decks to affluent
consumers. The franchisee sells advertising to local/regional business
people. The company has done work for Scientology, so it looks like it
may be a WISE operation.

I had a run-in with Brian Raftery when working at the LMT. We were
followed so often after leaving work that I once in a while would walk
the neighborhood just before quitting time trying to spot the PI's
waiting for us. I caught one sleeping in his car that way. Getting
paid to sleep, tch tch.
At the end of the north-south side road on the east side of the LMT
is a fast food place I think called Checkers. One day when I left
work, I saw a car in that parking lot that looked familiar, like it
might be a PI's. It was pointed straight down this street. So I drove
fast north to see, and as I did that, this car started backing up to
leave. When I got closer pretty quickly, he could see that if he went
east, as the parking area traffic was supposed to, I would intercept
him. So he went west, leaving via the entrance to the drive-through.
By that time I was right behind him, writing his plate number down.
Just at that second, he got out of his car with an angry look on his
face and quickly approached me. I was scared enough to instinctively
roll up the window. It was Brian Raftery. He yelled at me "stop
following me!" and glared at me briefly before getting back in his car
and driving off. It happened too quickly for me to video, even though
I always had my camera with me in Clearwater.
