Anyone with a smattering of familiarity with the Community of Christ can
recognize the World Church appointees among the above list of folks responsible
for making the wedding take place.
The text of the bulletin can be read at Centerplace.org
Photcopies of the bulletin are now in circulation.
Anyone who reads the text of this bulletin will be convinced that the intent of
the cerermony was a "wedding." The language is the same throughout as would be
expected of program for a wedding ceremony, and, of course, includes ushers.
On isolated newsgroups, spin doctors for the Community of Christ are still
denying that the ceremony took place, but Minister of Propaganda Bruce Lindgren
has been obliged to come up with a canned statement regarding the wedding.
Current policy of the Community of Christ states that practicing homosexuals
may not be ordained, and states that although the irregularity of performing
the wedding sacrament for homosexuals must be discontinued, sacraments
previously performed will not be undone. It also states that no minister of the
church, regardless of his conscience, may set aside the rules and practices of
the church in order to perform such a ceremony. These rules are regularly
broken with the blessing of the First Presidency.
Aware of adverse publicity caused by homosexual appointees and priests, the
Community of Christ has both proposed and enacted "rules" for making sure that
accused sexual perverts in the priesthood are not allowed to "counsel" in
private members of the church who meet their criteria for victims. However,
since rules prohibiting homosexual ordination and same sex marriage are broken
with impunity and with the blessing of the First Presidency, one can only
assume that "ironclad" rules for protecting children from child molesters and
female members from sex addicts are going to be broken with equal impunity, and
with an equal blessing from the First Presidency.
The former pastor of Fairbanks Branch, Houston, who was removed after being
accused of molesting female "counselees" still retains his priesthood.
Debbie Blackwell was formerly pastor of the Eugene OR branch. She refused to
answer e-mails regarding the wedding. One of her counselors, who resigned in
disgust, has been elected by the congregation to replace her this term. The
pastor of local CofChrist branches is not appointed by the World Church, but is
elected by the congregation itself, which apparently has rejected Ms.
Blackwell's enthusiasm for the homosexual agenda of the World Church. However,
the World Church has been known to break the rules of order regarding the
election of pastors and attempt to oust pastors who are too fundamentalist to
suit the First Presidency's tastes. This happened in the 1980's in Blue Valley
Stake.
If there are any gamblers here, you can make a fortune by betting that news of
this gay wedding will never make the pages of the "Herald." The "Herald," the
church paper of the CofChrist, which it inherited from the now-defunct RLDS
Church, monthly prints photos of heterosexual couples having their 50th, 60th,
etc. wedding anniversaries to persuade the membership and general public that
the Community of Christ is a Christian denomination.
The Community of Christ has never published any notice of gay weddings
performed in the denomination, so there are no figures available of exactly how
many of these "sacraments" have taken place.
I posted on Centerplace a list of Herald articles containing articles written
by Herald authors who enthusiastically quoted a communist publication run by
Richard J. Barnet. Barnet is the marxist terrorist who is instrumental in
running the Institute for Policy Studies, which has been identified by the FBI
as a known subversive organization. Wallace B. Smith invited Barnet to speak on
"peace" at the Kirtland Temple. Later, Dr. Smith highly praised Barnet's
speech. A participant on Centerplace tried to look up references to communist
teachings that were parroted in the Herald and found that these pages could not
be displayed. Every time he found a listing containing anything related to Mr.
Barnet, or articles quoting Mr. Barnet's magazine, he got a "page cannot be
displayed" error.
I think the Community of Christ has finally surpassed the LDS Church in lies
and obfuscation.

Raleigh
Christianity isn't an "ism." "Isms" are counterproductive to Christianity, be
they Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, Calvinism, Unitarianism, or whatnot. The
only "ism" that is a legitimate part of Christianity is baptism.
