REMEMBER FOLKS, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A *GENUINE RESTORED* *CHRISTIAN* TEMPLE
Sick bastards.
The LDS [Mormon] Oath of Vengeance
Following Joseph Smith's martyrdom, Brigham Young introduced an oath in the LDS Temple endowment ceremony which required members to swear vengeance "upon this nation." It became the subject of a United States Senate Investigation.
Reed Smoot was a Mormon Apostle who had been elected a Senator from Utah. In 1903 a protest was filed in the United States Senate to have Hon. Smoot removed from office, on the grounds that he had taken this treasonous oath in the endowment ritual. The complete record of this episode was published in:
U.S. Senate Document 486 (59th Congress, 1st Session) Proceedings Before the Committee on Privileges and Elections of the United States Senate in the Matter of the Protests Against the Right of Hon. Reed Smoot, a Senator from the State of Utah, to hold his Seat. 4 vols.[+1 vol. index] (Washington: Government Printing Office, 1906)
Several former Mormons revealed the content of this oath. The wording was as follows:
"You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will pray and never cease to pray to Almighty God to avenge the blood of the prophets upon this nation, and that you will teach the same to your children and to your children's children unto the third and fourth generation."
The oath remained a part of the temple rituals until February 15, 1927.
When I was a Mormon missionaries I had "Christians" tell me the following:
"I'm gonna fucking KILL you MOTHER FUCKERS!"
"Oh...you're Mormons? Hey, you're mother is a pig that should have been slaughtered before you were born? Get out of her before I cut your fucking throats!"
We had "Christians" all the time threaten us, and speak of BLOODY MURDER!!!
So, are these "good people"in your estimation? Or were THEIR blood threats justified?

Are you saying that the Temple Oath of Vengeance represents 'real' Christianity?

Real Christians don't use that kind of language or threaten people.

I'd never heard this before. How else would I not recognize the endowment ceremony from 1840?
-- "We wouldn't have a police department that had to show a profit every year - or a fire department that had to show a profit every year. We shouldn't do that with our health care system, either."
it was the imperative duty of the Church to obey the word of Joseph Smith, or the presidency, without question or inquiry, and that if there were any that would not, they should have their throats cut from ear [to] ear." - Sidney Rigdon letter to Orson Hyde, October 21, 1844, in Nauvoo Neighbor, December 4, 1844; see also Quinn, Mormon Hierarchy: Origins of Power, p. 94;
How's this for treating a "Witness of the BoM, in whose home the church started?
"While we were gone Jo. & Rigdon & their band of gadiantons kept up a guard and watched our houses and abused our families and threatened them if they were not gone by morning they would be drove out & threatened our lives if they [the Danites] ever saw us in Far West." - John Whitmer, McKiernan and Launius, The Book of John Whitmer, p. 165

It would be more accurate to say that "good christians" don't talk like that. It could equally be said that good (moral) mormons don't talk like that. Of course one difference is good (obedient but not moral) mormons in the early mormon church would take the Vengeance Oath and some acted on it. The Book of Mormon is a 19th century american and christian product of the times--Joseph took prevailing issues and beliefs and made it into a bible. A couple of big issues or beliefs of the time that he stole include the belief that the Natives were jewish decedents and that dark skin was a curse from god were not novel to JS.
The BoM even teaches against polygamy. He added that stuff after he had sucked in regular christians into his cult.

Just curious if Manning & Diana are disturbed by the saints in the Bible crying out for their blood to be avenged. And what do they think of God's response?
Rev 6:9-11 9 And ... I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Rev 16:5-7 5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

The Book of Revelation remains an undeciphered enigma. One can give it no consensus interpretation.
However, I'd like to see a similar New Testament comparison from Mr Miles to the disgusting secret gruesome blood and guts death oaths taken in the early LDS Temple endowment ceremony:
Early Penalty of the First Token of the Aaronic Priesthood
We, and each of us, covenant and promise that we will not reveal any of the secrets of this, the First Token of the Aaronic Priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign, or penalty. Should we do so, we agree that our throats be cut from ear to ear and our tongues torn out by our roots.
Early Penalty of the Second Token of the Aaronic Priesthood
We, and each of us, covenant and promise that we will not reveal any of the secrets of this, the Second Token of the Aaronic Priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign, or penalty. Should we do so, we agree to have our breasts cut open and our hearts and vitals torn out from our bodies and given to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field.
Early Penalty of the First Token of the Melchizedek Priesthood
We, and each of us, covenant and promise that we will not reveal any of the secrets of this, the First Token of the Melchizedek Priesthood, with its accompanying name, sign, or penalty. Should we do so, we agree that our bodies be cut asunder in the midst and all our bowels gush out.

The god of the OT was in many places therein, in my view, created in the image and likeness of the semi-savage barbaric tribes of that time frame - and bears little in common with Jesus and God the Father in the New Testament.
It appears to me that the Mormons have themselves invented their own version of a Mormon god the father and they even claim that their fabricated 'god' was once a man just like you and me:
"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret...
It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know...that he was once a man like us.
Here, then, is eternal life--to know that only wise and true God, and you have got to learn how to become Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you. ..
God himself, the father of us all dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ."
~~ Prophet Joe Smith Jr, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 342-345, also quoted heavily by the church, see Gospel Principles, Chapter 47.

• Someday I wouldlike to talk to the guy who wrote Numbers and find out what the Jewish army did with the virgin Midianite girls they took home with them. Another curiosity is how the virginal Lott girls went about doing their dad on two successive nights without him remembering anything.
