Given the feverish exchange of comments, observations and various ideas
prompted by Mr. W.T. Elbow's post about his new mandolin a while back,
it seems only fair to make note of the newly-premiered Major Motion
Picture that prominently features said instrument -- and played by a
Major Motion Picture Star, no less.

Uh, no, as far as I know, neither Jay nor Silent Bob play the mandolin.

Neither does Mark Wahlberg.

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan? No! Stop that!!1!!!!111!!

It's Nicolas (Nic) Cage, you silly. *Sigh* No, he doesn't play a
burnt-out ambulance driver who finds solace and contentment by plunking
the eight-stringed instrument. No, he doesn't play the leader of a
car-theft gang leader who finds solace and contentment by plunking the
eight-stringed instrument.

Look, just forget it.

I swear that before this movie started previewing I had a firm grasp on
what made Hollywood tick.

something's gone wrong.

I blame Cage. He's been making things complicated ever since that
Superman thing.
David DeLaney will explain the Superman thing on account of nobody
should possibly know about it, but that probably means he does.

Isn't it just a remake of that one Italian movie that Bravo
shows all the time?

In other, CRGRE-centric, mandolin news: Niles Hokkanen proves
that the Finns have long planned a complete assistance program
for my diversions and (b.) after exhaustive trials, the big
triangular picks are my favorite. AND a mandolin, possibly a
mandola or octave mandolin, have to check the betamax, appeared
on the last episode of LEXX -- which was, once again, painfully,
g_-dawfully unwatchable.

But he -does- get to 'plunk the eight-stringed instrument'? Okay then.

If this is some reference to 4'33'' Kryptonite, that got retconned out
-real- quickly.

According to rumor, Nicolas Cage is being considered as the lead in a
movie adaptation of the "Ghost Rider" comic. This pleases me; I have,
for quite some time, been eagerly anticipating a movie in which Nicolas
Cage's head is on fire. This is even better than Marky Mark getting
treated like luggage by people in gorilla suits.
