Man uses ax to rob Park Ridge 7-Eleven

A man wielding an ax robbed a convenience store shortly before
midnight Friday in northwest suburban Park Ridge.

The clerk was alone in a 7-Eleven store at 976 N. Northwest Highway
when a man about 40 years of age walked in to the store and asked for
cigarettes, said Cmdr. Lou Jogmen.

The man then brandished an ax and demanded money. The clerk handed
over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the bandit left the store,
police said.

Police said the man was wearing an overcoat and his face was obscured.
No one was injured in the robbery.
