Muslims should dispel misconceptions about Islam
I bear witness that there is no deity worthy to be worshipped but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
The Western world knows more about oil in the Arab world than it knows about
the Holy Qur�an, a top Muslim scholar said, according to the Gulf News.
It�s a duty on every Muslim to read the holy book of Islam and promote its
values to others so that the �West learns about the Islamic religion,
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the Qur�an�, said Dr Omar Abdul Kafi.
Dr Abdul Kafi was addressing more than 200 people during the fifth lecture,
titled �Secrets of Worship�, of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award�s
(DIHQA) 10th session at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Egyptian researcher criticized those who claim that Islam and reason do
not meet, describing them as �brainless and illogical individuals�.
He also stressed that Muslims who abide by the rules in the Qur�an �succeed
in their lives.�
�Islam put an end to slavery ages ago. There is no difference between an
Arab and a foreigner except in the faith in God. Islam is a religion which
makes a person�s attitude and behavior towards others and the society of
paramount importance,� Dr Abdul Kafi said.
Allah (SWT) observes Muslims� behaviors and attitudes towards each other
�because our religion mainly counts on behavior�, he said.
Dr Abdul Kafi also slammed those who get closer to Allah (SWT) �only during
the holy month of Ramadan�, saying that Muslims should be fully devoted to
their religion throughout their entire life.
�God is seeing us and watching us and will be punishing or rewarding each
one of us as per our works and intentions,� he warned.
Every Muslim is obliged to educate followers of other religions about Islam
because, unfortunately, many non-Muslims have negative views of the noble
religion, wrongfully associating it with violence.
Contrary to what they believe, the Islamic religion promotes peace and
justice. In fact, the word �Islam� itself, which means �surrender or submit�
to Allah (SWT) in Arabic, is originally derived from the world �Selm�, or
peace. Thus, it�s no wonder that the traditional Islamic greeting is
"As-Salamu 'alaikum," or "peace be with you."
