It is amazing how people can believe in so many different gods when there is
NO objective verifiable evidence that any of the gods are real. The logial
evidence is that NO REAL gods actually exist except in the imaginations of
the believers.

If there was a REAL god he certainly would not permit all these false gods
to misled his creations. There are hundreds of different god beliefs. Which
one, if ant, is real? If he acually existed he could quite easely
communicat, directly from his heaven, that he is the real god and point out
that all the others are fakes. He could easely smite all the false gods and
prevent his creations from being misled. If man can communicate via Radio,
TV, Cell phones etc. with the whole world, certainly real god should have no
difficutly directly communicating with his creations.

No real god has ever announced directly from his heaven that he is the real
god and all the others are fakes or even that the numerous variations of
beliefs within his own religion are false. There are is a wealth of
different religious documents that proclaim the validity of various Gods.
Which, if any, are correct?

Major religious texts and gods;

Baha'i Sacrid writtings

Life of Buddha - Dhammapada - Pali cannon

The Bible - Christian religious documents - 18 English versions alone.

No originals of the old or new testaments exist.

The Book of Mormon - Church of Latter Day Saints

The Analects - Confuscianism

The Eddas and Sagas - Icelandic beliefs

Wicca - Neo paganism of Greece and Rome

Bhagavgita and Rig Veda - Hinduism

Qur'an - Islam

Adi Granth and Dasam Granth - canonical scripture of the Sikhs

Tanakh - Jewism

Tao-Te-Ching - Taoism

Nag Hammadi - Gnostics

Zhuan Falun - Falun Gong

Avesta - sacred book of Zoroastrianism

Of all these different gods and belief systems which is the true one, if
any, and which are fakes? Non of these documents are any objective evidence.
They are all documents written, hand copied, modified and further copied,
over the centuries, by errant men with their own personal beliefs and
selfish motivations. All of these documents, except the Book of Morman, were
hand written and hand recopied over the centuries before the invention of
the printing press. There is no way to determine authenticity or accuracy of
any of these. The objective evidence is that they are a mixture of
inaccurate history, myths, fables and legends.

There are thousands of different religious and god beliefs. Here is a list
of most of these; How can we know which one, if any, is real???

Or, God could be "allowing" us to exercise our sovereign wills and
test all those things that we would be curious about were we not given
this period of "hands on" learning.

Had God pre-programmed us such that we would never go against His will
and become engrossed in the things that we are now learning about, we
would have been nothing but a bunch of puppets. Absolute sovereign
will and immortality make it necessary that we learn by our own
experiences, not by some pre-arranged programming of our minds.

Yes, God HAS announced to the prophets and to most of us, that he is
there and that His program is running just as He expects it to run.

The other gods you mention are indeed figments of human imagination,
but these spates of imagination have served and still do serve a
useful purpose in our "school of hard knocks" learning process.

Just as you have learned to reject these imaginary gods, all humans
have or will learn to reject them and embrace only the real God.

It's not about belief. It's about something called EVIDENCE (you should
google it sometime).

And in the case of gods, a complete LACK of EVIDENCE.

Case dismissed.

So this god has no clue how his creations would be? Hmmmm, it's not much
of a god you are defining there, Mr. 531
And I suppose any wrong guesses on our part = and we're burning in hell,
though he willfully deprives of the knowledge needed to make the "right"
choice? Or are you a believer in the Asgaard gods?

So
Xtian: < 50% of population.
Hindu: < 50% of world population,
Islam: < 50% of population.

So what part of "most of us" am I not understanding?

Which other gods?

Come to think of it, which god are you proposing as the one true god?
You should know the Asgaard pantheon is the the true way and all others
are imagination or falsely worshipped.

"All"? Many an atheist has died an atheist.
Many an unbeliever in Odin has died an unbeliever in Odin, as much as it
saddens us.

Not really.
They dont actually believe in all of them at once - they believe in
only one or one group at any one time.
Evidence is not a relevant "cause" of belief - belief follows what the
believer needs from a psychological (you could say spiritual) point of
view.
They look at exactly the same world as everyone else but come up with
different ideas about the unseen "powers" that influence/create/
control all that real verifiable stuff you and I see.

Life and existence really are ultimately mysterious - even for the
most knowledgeable human imaginable - and so there is always room for
our imaginations to fill the unknown with fantastic beings.
Its a consequence of how our minds work.

What is "logical evidence"?
I know what logic is and I know what evidence is - but I don't think
"logical evidence" is a meaningful construct.

Use your dictionary.

log·i·cal ( lĽj"ą-k.l) adj. 1. Of, relating to, in accordance with, or of
the nature of logic. 2. Based on earlier or otherwise known statements,
events, or conditions; reasonable: Rain was a logical expectation, given the
time of year. 3. Reasoning or capable of reasoning in a clear and consistent
manner.

ev·i·dence ( µv"ą-d.ns) n. 1. A thing or things helpful in forming a
conclusion or judgment: The broken window was evidence that a burglary had
taken place. Scientists weigh the evidence for and against a hypothesis. 2.
Something indicative; an outward sign: evidence of grief on a mourner's
face.

So its an allowable (a non formal) usage of "logical".

It's still sounds odd because logic always "of assistance in forming a
conclusion" so in that sense "logical evidence" is redundant like
"enormous giant" "terminal death"
ALSO
Logic is a formal abstraction of the process of reasoning - an
intangible.
whereas Evidence is something tangible - something you can see, touch,
hear .

So I would avoid such a usage.

Think on this:
What exactly would "non logical evidence" look like?
If I see an open door - that well might be evidence of something -
what about seeing an open door could make it "logical" or "non
logical" - its an open door.

People can reason poorly about evidence - but the illogic is in the
persons mind not the evidence.

Mark.

Er, no. First, there's no such thing as "logical evidence" - although
one might argue the point with the use of "my bathtub is filled with
power tools, therefore there's a god" as the contrary stance. :)

Second, the only conclusion we can actually reach from this complete lack
of evidence is that there is a complete lack of evidence. That is, the
lack of evidence of gods simply says we have no reason to take the notion
seriously, that no self-respecting thinking person can honestly assert
"is too" based on what's on the table.

The closest we can come to "is not", however, is not quite what you
suggest - a conclusion - but, rather, simply applying the principle of
parsimony, to wit, if there's no good reason to think a thing exists,
don't behave as if it does.

This, for example, is why we actually allow ourselves to make right turns
when driving - lacking any reason to suspect the presence of evil
invisible aliens with destruct-o-rays who will vaporize us if we turn
right, we do not _assume_ such beings exist, therefore we can make right
turns with a reasonable expectation of surviving the process.

In fact, the same idea applies, day in and day out. We have no
particular reason to think that invisible pixies live inside our
computers, pixies which will cause the machines to explode should we ever
type the word "wildfire", so we don't simply assume such creatures exist,
we don't worry overmuch about typing said word.

The same for gremlins in the coffee maker taking a sudden - and lethal -
dislike to coffee grounds. And on and on and on.

Gods? We have bugger all reason to think they exist, any more than the
computer pixies, coffee maker gremlins or anti-right-turn aliens, so we
quite properly do what we do in all such cases - we get on with our lives
with no assumption such things do exist, unless and until evidence shows
otherwise.

No, we cannot actually conclude such things _do not_ exist. Indeed, one
can reasonably argue it is not possible to rule such things out
entirely. What we can do, though, is simply note there's no reason to
think they _do_ exist, and get on with our lives.

What I, personally, find somewhat amusing about the whole thing is that
there are actually people out there who would discount the anti-right-
turn aliens, or the coffee pot gremlins, or the computer pixies,
regarding these as "silly" or "unfounded", yet still happily claim that
gods are real, despite having no more basis for saying that than for
saying that your coffee pot is inhabited.

Some peoples' minds are truly marvels of inconsistency.

> If there was a REAL god he certainly would not permit all these false
> gods to misled his creations.

Depends. If one examines the claims about the god of the Bible,
particularly the OT god, one is led to the inevitable conclusion he's
evil, psychotic, and jealous, not to mention slightly retarded. *He*
might give a damn about such things.

On the other hand, a different god concept may simply not give a damn: "I
made the universe, set things in motion to produce life, my job's done,
I'm retired. Stop bugging me, I'm busy in the garden." Worship a
different god concept? Hey, whatever turns your crank.

> There are hundreds of different god
> beliefs. Which one, if ant, is real? If he acually existed he could
> quite easely communicat, directly from his heaven, that he is the real

Assuming that this particular one is the real one. Although, that said,
any "god" concept sufficient to create the universe would, presumably,
have the capacity to drop in and say "hi" from time to time. Then again,
this assumes that the god concept involved a) actually exists and b)
actually gives a damn.

Since we have no reason at all to think either of those points is the
case, what do we do? Right: we get on with our lives without worrying
about gremlins in the coffee pot, aliens at intersections, pixies in the
computers, or gods in the clouds.
