Reading the latest book by Frank Joseph,
ATLANTIS AND 2012, The Science of the
Lost Civilization and the Prophecies of the
Maya (copyright 2010) it appears some-
one is under the impression that Kali Yuga
will be catastrophically brought to a close
in 2012! [See: p. 90, 2nd paragraph.]

I thought that was astonishing, to say the
least. Does Harold Klemp believe that? or
did he mention Frank Joseph to point out
how many different timelines exist for the
World Ages & History in general?

The Eckankar Dictionary and Lexicon don't
appear to illustrate such a sudden end for
the Kali Yuga. (In my opinion.)

On p. 46 of the book I cited by Frank Joseph
it appears to illustrate a very different timeline
for Hindu yugas. The Maha yuga is dated to
3100 BC. The Krita yuga (see 4th paragraph
p. 46) came to an end by 2214 BC Treta yuga
(same paragraph) ended in 1621 BC and the
Davpara yuga terminated in 1213 BC. This is
rather odd to me, since on p. 89 of Joseph's
book (3rd paragraph) Kali Yuga is mentioned
to have begun in 3112 BC. Apparently.

So what was it that began around 3,000 BC?
The Maha yuga or the Kali yuga? Maybe the
author was drawing on different sources, I do
not know this for certain.

In the March 2005 Eckankar publication of
The Mystic World, is a question about How
did the Mahanta start? (Ask the Master, p.
6). And the short answer appears to be that
"... the SUGMAD first incarnated ITSELF
as the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master in
the present [the word present in italics] Kali
Yuga." IMO, it was not the eternal Mahanta
Harold referred to, but the historical Mahanta.

Here is how the answer was spelled out
("quoted") when I came across it the other
day:

"So the short answer is that the SUGMAD
first incarnated ITSELF as the Mahanta, the
Living ECK Master in the present Kali Yuga.
'Present' refers to this lesser cycle. The
eternal Mahanta, to sum up, is timeless. But
the historical Mahanta started in the present
Kali Yuga."

http://www.thetruth-seeker.com/dispBB.aspx?st=1230&page=81#m1223

Regardless, I thought it was necessary to
clarify the word present (that paragraph)
was illustrated in italics. (I don't think that
Johnson's site allowed for italics text. And
the writer who quoted that paragraph there
didn't have the option.)

Curious that (the word present in italics),
in my opinion.

In any case, it's simply amazing how people
draw from recorded history to come up with
so many different ideas about Kali Yuga and
a timeline for it. I've seen quite a few different
variations. Joseph is, perhaps, just one more
to add to the list. The latter appears to favor
the idea of reckoning by lunar vs. solar years.
Even the Hindu chroniclers understood lunar
years (See: p.138 of 2010 book by Joseph).

Well, judging by all the different writers about
the subject of Kali Yuga & the many different
dates I might want to conclude that some (if
not all) of them are either guessing, or simply
flat out WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

In any case :) the speculative timelines by
Frank Joseph (and others) are interesting, in
my opinion. Especially if correct by reducing
the time span for Hindu yugas (no matter if
they appear to contradict the Shariyat-Ki-
Sugmad, the so called Eckankar "Bible".)

Hmm... The end of Kali Yuga is not the kind
of thing a person wants to get wrong. In my
opinion. So, how is it possible to determine
the actual time span for Kali Yuga? Are the
traditionally long time spans for Maha Yuga
really just a symbolic (and not literal) thing?

Any thoughts?

For more trivia about length of Hindu Yugas
generally, or about MU (Lemuria) & cycles
for world history (along with some Shariyat
and ECK-Vidya quotes) I recently updated
my MU page here.

For those of us who don't have the book, why don't you quote the
paragraph(s) you're referring to.

I'll see if I can do that some time before December
2012 :)

My impression of Joseph's 2010 book - including
3rd page of chapter 8 called: The Coming of the
Blue Star - is that he was also sharing research,
beliefs and opinions by other scholars. I wouldn't
say that the author necessarily believes all of the
findings himself. However, reading about all these
things in an author's book can give the general
impression that the writer believed in them too. I
don't say that he did / does.

As for my own perspective, I think the dates are
an interesting consideration. I like the studies on
precession and "26,000-year cycles", too. Also,
the multiples of 26, including 2,600. (26 = 2x13
and 52= 2x26). I like those subjects, I mean to
say.

Here is something (not by Frank Joseph) about
the Hindu and the Mayan calendars:

Golden Age to begin in 2012
Mayan Calendar Corroborates Hindu Prophecy
By David Hedges

In the “Brahma-Vaivarta Purana”, Lord Krishna tells
Ganga Devi that a Golden Age will come in the Kali
Yuga - one of the four stages of development that the
world goes through as part of the cycle of eras, as
described in Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna predicted
that this Golden Age will start 5,000 years after the
beginning of the Kali Yuga, and will last for 10,000
years.

Mayan Calendar Matches Hindu Calendar

It is interesting that this prediction of the emergence
of a new world is prophesied to appear about the same
time that the Mayans predicted it to come! The Mayan
calendar began with the Fifth Great Cycle in 3114 BC
and will end on 21 December 2012 AD. The Hindu Kali
Yuga calendar began on 18 February 3102 B.C. There
is only a difference of 12 years between the Hindu's
beginning of the Kali Yuga and the Mayan's beginning
of the Fifth Great Cycle.

Golden Age Could Begin in 2012

The ancient Hindus mainly used lunar calendars but also
used solar calendars. If an average lunar year equals 354.
36 days, then this would be about 5270 lunar years from
the time when the Kali Yuga started until 21 Dec 2012.
This is the same year that the Mayans predict rebirth of
our planet. It is also about 5113 solar years of 365.24 days
per year, and is day number 1,867,817 into the Kali Yuga.
By either solar or lunar years, we are over 5,000 years into
the Kali Yuga and it is time for Lord Krishna's prophecy to
happen according to the ancient Hindu scriptures. Lord
Krishna's Golden Age could easily begin in 2012!

Mayan Prophecy Matches Hindu Prophecy

It is amazing that both calendars began at about the
same time over 5,000 years ago and both calendars
predict a totally new world and/or golden age after
about 5,000 years into their calendars! We are definitely
on to something with these Mayan and Hindu 2012
predictions. Historically, this is an amazing fact since
these two ancient cultures did not have any contact.

Going back to the multiples of 13 and 26, I recently
ran across a site discussing cycles of Venus and
the Earth around the Sun. I think it was a 13:8 ratio.
And something about the Mayan calendar beginning
with the "Birth of Venus" whatever that is supposed
to mean (nobody seems to know). Well, the year
2012 will see a Venus transit. I reckon some people
suspect the Mayan cycle begins & ends with Venus.

Hmm... What was Venus once called? Was it ...
Lucifer?

"Going back to the multiples of 13 and 26, I recently

OK. I found that link which mentions Venus and the
number 13. Here is a quote:

"If we use 13 as the root of the Mayan calendar system
we find the following sequence: 13, 26, 39, 52, 65, 78,
91 and 104, which are achieved by simply adding 13 to
each succeeding sum. These are the key numbers in
the Mayan calendrics and they have a solid scientific
footing. Venus was the central component of the Mayan
cosmology. It is for good reason that our nearest planetary
neighbor is called earth’s sister planet. They have a phase-
locked orbital cycle that is based on a 13:8 ratio. That is
derived from the fact that Venus revolves around the sun
1.6 times faster than Earth so that 13 Venus revolutions
is equal to 8 years."

I thought that was an interesting page. I'm now more
interested in the numbers 13 and 26 than ever before.

BTW. 13 X 28 days (or, one lunar cycle x 13) = 364
days. I believe this form of reckoning figures into that
New Age 13-Moon calendar fad.

Good feedback about the topic. The Sirius star system
interests me. The other two that you mentioned too.
