  The Declaration of Independence is a historical document that was &lt;br&gt; written before the 13 colonies became the United States. The DOI is not &lt;br&gt; a legal document like the Constitution. The First amendment is the most &lt;br&gt; important one in the constitution and referred to this amdnedment as the &lt;br&gt; Establishment Clause.
