Sure, elderchild holds unorthodox views. But so do you (that's another
thread, however). At least he is not full of the bile and invective that you
are. You are quite cavalier in propehsying, I see. You seem to know who is
going to Hell, and to know that you are not among them. How prescient!
Permit me, then, to cast just a little judgement on you, since you have been
so busy on other people, you may have neglected a few points pertaining to
yourself (a forgiveable offense): you have a lot of learning to do, my
friend, about how to treat your neighbor.
You are very knowledgeable about the Bible, but I don't see compassion, I
don't see patience, love, forbearance, or any of the fruits of the Spirit.
Elderchild has these fruits, even if his doctrine is off. I think God is
more than willing to forgive a point of doctrine. I don't think He looks
very kindly on ingratitude, presumption, and spiritual pride.
It's a matter of having Jesus in your heart. If you find a quiet place for
Jesus in your heart to instruct and guide you, you will not be tempted to
lash out like an angry Jeremiah at everyone you judge to be heretics. Who do
you think you are? You're just another soul in need of the healing of
God. What puts you above other people?
Perhaps if you looked on Elderchild more as a brother than a fiend, you
would see something in him to love. Our Lord, you remember, ate and sat
with sinners and _loved_ them.
It's easy to condemn; it makes us feel better about ourselves. It's a cross
to have to suffer people we disagree with. It makes us have to look inside
ourselves and assess our own walk with God, especially when those we
disagree with seem so much _better_ than we - more patient, more loving,
more willing to put up with ignorant loudmouths that offend us....
Forgive me if I am coming on too strongly. However, I do not like to see a
Christian wear the name in vain, and you are wearing Christ's name for the
vain purpose of tearing down your neighbor, who has done nothing but be kind
and patient toward you. For shame!
God bless.
