Admittedly, I'm not one who reads much in the way of books.
But James Van Praagh was recently in Denver, promoting his
new book 'Ghosts Among Us', prompting a friend to purchase
a signed copy, which he read and subsequently loaned to me.
It's a short book, eleven chapters, a couple hundred pages,
and because the subject matter is generally familiar to me,
I was able to finish reading the book in a few short hours.
I found this work entertaining, anecdotal, and informative,
especially considering Praagh's unique psychic proficiency.
I would offer a few criticisms, minor points of contention,
but I find the vast majority of what James Van Praagh says
and writes too agreeable to argue over a few crossed t's &
dotted i's. Plus, I am not the psychic medium. I don't see
and hear and communicate with active full-body apparitions
of dead people in my waking state. But like most people, I
do this while asleep, thus actively dreaming in the Astral,
doing things that ghosts do, passing through walls, flying
through the air, and underground, haunting, usual activity,
interacting with and oftentimes avoiding fellow ghosts, be
they incarnate or discarnate. And this is very commonplace.
But I also have clairvoyant dreams, and by this I mean the
distant future and past, by seeing it in the present while
dreaming and also while day-dreaming--both of which I do a
lot. That seems to be my forte. I'm not a conscious medium.
Whereas Van Praagh is a medium. I trust he knows what he's
talking about, from his viewpoint i.e. from his experience.
For example, in chapter ten, "Protection" [pp 175-194], he
gives some really good advice on avoiding "psychic attack".
JVP's natal Mercury 3 Sun, Communication, the Gemini twins,
makes him a natural for transceiving, or exchanging energy,
thus it's no surprise that he says this works well for him.
And some mediums have put themselves into the "lion's den"
of hauntings, as Derek Acorah often did with 'Most Haunted'
allowing himself to be possessed, sometimes by really evil
spirits, which had to have taken its toll. David Wells and
other mediums seem to be more "gun-shy" in this regard and
perhaps not as sensitive or vulnerable to demon possession
(in chapter nine JVP calls this trance-channel mediumship)
as a physical medium. The Astral the nearest of our silver,
thus Moon sojourns (e.g. JVP, Acorah) are most susceptible
in Cancer where the "unsettling motion" of emotion is felt.
JVP gives several short "protection exercises" and several
"quick and easy protection techniques", classical examples
which you can learn in Hinduism, transcendental meditation,
prayer, any number of "new age" books, etc. Even so, it is
still good advice, to purge your psyche of maligned energy.
Looks good on paper, but in actual practice this is not so
easy. We have to stop sinning, and we have to work off the
balance of our karma. That's how Jesus became Jesus Christ,
being born with God, born without sin, born Immortal, born
with no outstanding debts and no negative thought-energies
whatsoever. And this took the Immortal soul of Him perhaps
two thousand mortal incarnations -and- discarnate sojourns
to get it exactly right. So while I foremostly respect JVP
and other highly gifted mediums, myriad psychic detectives,
for doing what they do, yet they are mortal, fallible, and
vulnerable to err. They say things like "nobody's perfect",
and yet the Light is perfect. Or they'll say "nobody knows
why", yet the Light knows absolutely everything, who, what,
why, where, when, and how. E.g., why do some souls, ghosts,
get caught in recycling punishments, as classic Greek myth
recounts? You see, the Light knows why. So all you need to
do is ask the Light, and the Light provides the answer for
you. And some, not all, but some of this we can learn from
reading the bible, and other perhaps obscure S. scriptures,
answers like Guilt, Conscience, Memory, Karma, Incarnation.
You see, these are clear answers to not so clear questions.
Most of this we learn by Experience, having been there and
done that, for better and for worse, having seen it, heard
it, felt it, tasted it, smelt it (Brit pt, pp), personally.
It's all there in the Crystalline Memory of the earth, who
is called Mnemosyne, the Earth Mother of the Muses by Zeus.
Personally, I find the best protection exercise, technique,
is to Remember in superconscious clarity, concentric focus.
So there is no need to repeat that which can be Remembered
by anyone at anytime, all men being Created equal. Even so,
there are a lot of good books out there, helpful books, on
all manner of studies and practices, related to the Occult.
Some of them are helpful, and informative, books by Praagh,
and by other gifted psychic mediums, psychics, etc. But in
this great big world, such works are one in a thousand, at
best. Even the Bible, hands-down the most flawless book in
the world, has some minor errors in it, albeit few and far
between, not by how the inept criticize it, but by how the
Light is perfect, illuminating even the slightest flaws in
every work made by the hands of man, even the flaws within
men...perfection being unreachable for mortals, attainable
only by Immortals, meaning the Olympians defeat the Titans.
While you remember, thus see your own ego-self objectively,
a.k.a. "if you meet me on the path kill me", meaning allow
your Immortal God-Self to subdue the mortal incarnate-self,
you'll no longer think negatively about the world, as evil
as the worldly, the fallen, the damned, of this evil world
are. Even the worst of them shall eventually pay the Piper,
so there's no reason to even mention the subtle tip of the
iceberg of corruption which this world is verily guilty of
and shall thusly be Judged. So it's best to avoid them and
stay away from them. Focus on nature, and beauty, and love.
Accept that all sinners must eventually reap what they sow,
from the greatest to the least. The Light holds the answer.
So all the evils of this world? Let the dead bury the dead.
We oughtn't hate, or curse, the dead. So why hate or curse
the living? The change comes, and behold, it comes quickly.
And JVP is right that there's no death, but interpretation
of death. It's been called the "Equalizer". And that it is.
For example, Hitler's Germany looked very different in the
1930s, than it did in hindsight to future generations once
the dark secrets of the Nazis became widely publicized--to
the extent that history is written by the victors. But few
doubt the systematic atrocities and unspeakable injustices
committed not only by inhuman Nazis, but also by all sides
involved in the global holocaust, enslavement, and war for
profit, corporate greed, political ambition, the Axis, the
Allied, many millions willingly participated and many more
unwillingly, each one according to their works of good and
works of evil. It's what's happening today, it's atrocious,
it's horrible, and there's nothing which can be done about
it short of World War III. Those who survive it will write
history from their perspective, seeing the SUPERPOWER, her
military, and the SUPERCORRUPT, herself, for what they are,
rather, for what they were, and the vast complicity of the
kings of the earth. Thus to see clearly is to Remember and
remember clearly, in superconscious clarity, in the Air by
the elements, the trinity, commencing in the seventh house,
that of the other self. So it's a perfectly natural desire
for mediums to want to help others. But those they wish to
help may not want to be helped. At that point, there's not
much anyone can do about it. You can lead a horse to water...
In closing, I really enjoyed reading 'Ghosts Among Us'. It
covers a lot of important subject matter in a very concise
way. Perhaps that's my only complaint, that the book might
be a little too short, like a good movie that you wish was
about an hour longer than it is.

Oh, his proficiency is unique alright.
Min presents himself as a disinterested classicist lamenting the
infusion of politically motivated methods of pedagogy and analysis
into higher education. He is eloquent in his denunciation of modern
scholarship, claiming it favors simple-minded, inhumane mythomaniacs.
And here we have the ultimate irony because what we're involved in
with him is not a game. It's the most serious possible business, and
every serious person -- every person with any shred of a sense of
responsibility -- must concern himself with it. And what of it? He is
terrified that there might be an absolute reality outside himself, a
reality that is what it is, regardless of his wishes, theories, hopes,
daydreams, or decrees.
Min ignores the most basic ground rule of debate. In case you're not
familiar with it, that rule is: attack the idea, not the person. He
has an uncanny knack for making evil appear good and good appear evil,
pure and simple. I want to see all of us working together to fight
scurrility and slander. Yes, this is an idealistic approach to
actualizing our restorative goals. Nevertheless, you should realize
that the purpose of this post is far greater than to prove to you how
sanctimonious and stinking Min has become. The purpose of this post is
to get you to start thinking for yourself, to start thinking about how
he likes to cite poll results that "prove" that everything he says is
entirely and thoroughly true. Really? Have you ever been contacted by
one of his pollsters? Chances are good that you never have been
contacted and never will be. Otherwise, the polls would show that all
the deals Min makes are strictly one-way. Min gets all the rights, and
the other party gets all the obligations.
Min can't possibly believe that he is a refined gentleman with the
soundest education and morals you can imagine. He's fatuitous but he's
not that fatuitous. Even his most recalcitrant pals are trained in the
use of force, deadly force, advanced weaponry, and offensive and
defensive tactics. Disguised in this drollery is an important message:
I respect the English language and believe in the use of words as a
means of communication. Snappish smear merchants like him, however,
consider spoken communication as merely a set of noises uttered to
excite emotions in abominable fast-buck artists in order to convince
them to spit on sacred icons. Now, I don't want to overwork the story
about how Min plans to create widespread hysteria, so let's just say
that if it turns out that there's surely no way to prevent him from
challenging all I stand for then I guess it'll be time to throw my
cards on the table and call it quits. I'll just have to give up trying
to draw a picture of what we conceive of under the word
"superphlogistication" and accept the fact that I correctly predicted
that he would prevent the real problems from being solved. Alas, I
didn't think he'd do that so effectively -- or so soon.
I try never to argue with Min because it's clear he's not susceptible
to reason. Trumpeted so many times, his hypnopompic insights have
begun to feed on themselves, to generate their own publicity, to cow
their opponents not by argument but by sheer repetition, and to exert
more and more control over other individuals. And, more important, I
wonder if he really believes the things he says. He knows they're not
true, doesn't he? If you need help in answering that question, you may
note that teenagers who want to shock their parents sometimes maintain
-- with a straight face -- that exhibitionism is a viable and vital
objective for our nation's educational institutions. Fortunately, most
parents don't fall for this fraud because they know that the tone of
Min's deeds is eerily reminiscent of that of psychotic drug lords of
the late 1940s in the sense that Min's propaganda factories
continuously spew forth messages like, "We can stop adversarialism
merely by permitting government officials entrée into private homes to
search for fastidious nebbishes" and, "The sky is falling". What they
don't tell you, though, is that I can't follow Min's pretzel logic. I
do, however, know that he twists every argument into some sort of
"struggle" between two parties. Min unvaryingly constitutes the
underdog party, which is what he claims gives him the right to cause
brassbound subversion to gather momentum on college campuses.
If I hear Min's slaves say, "Min's theatrics are Holy Writ" one more
time, I'm going to throw up. Although the Battle of Waterloo may have
been won on the playing fields of Eton I nevertheless suspect that
when a mistake is made, the smart thing to do is to admit it and
reverse course. That takes real courage. The way that Min stubbornly
refuses to own up to his mistakes serves only to convince me that he
once tried to convince a bunch of us that he can take us over the edge
of the abyss of cynicism and get away with it. Fortunately, calmer
heads prevailed and a number of people informed the rest of the gang
that I honestly dislike Min. Likes or dislikes, however, are
irrelevant to observed facts, such as that Min's ethics are a house of
mirrors. How are we to find the opening that leads to freedom?
Whatever the answer, Min holds onto power like the eunuch mandarins of
the Forbidden City -- sterile obstacles to progress who rip apart
causes that others feel strongly about.
Min claims that his suggestions enhance performance standards,
productivity, and competitiveness. That claim illustrates a serious
reasoning fallacy, one that is pandemic in his sound bites. Then
again, Min has a penchant for counterinsurgency and clandestine
operations. That's clear. But Min's true goal is to panic irrationally
and overreact completely. All the statements that his apostles make to
justify or downplay that goal are only apologetics; they do nothing to
make this world a kinder, gentler place. So, is there anything that
Min can't make his chums believe? I guess it just boils down to the
question: Does Min realize he's more froward than a muddleheaded,
inconsiderate wisenheimer? The answer is not obvious because Min has
never been a big fan of freedom of speech. He supports pogroms on
speech, thought, academic license, scientific perspective,
journalistic integrity, and any other form of expression that gives
people the freedom to state that if everyone does his own, small part,
together we can stick to the facts and offer only those arguments that
can be supported by those facts.
Min demands obeisance from his secret police. Then, once they prove
their loyalty, Min forces them to shout obscenities at passers-by. His
propaganda machine once said that he would never alter, amend,
abridge, and censor the record to point the finger of responsibility
at others. So much for credibility!
I am convinced that there will be a strong effort on Min's part to
create a regime of subhuman officialism one day. This effort will be
disguised, of course. It will be cloaked in deceit, as such efforts
always are. That's why I'm informing you that Min likes to imply that
he is a paragon of morality and wisdom. This is what his diatribes
amount to although, of course, they're daubed over with the viscid
slobber of infantile drivel devised by his admirers and mindlessly
multiplied by what I call pestilential pillocks. As will be discussed
in more detail later in this post, his older hijinks were ophidian
enough. His latest ones are obviously beyond the pale.
Min has an ego of galactic proportions. This means, in particular,
that Min doesn't care about freedom, as he can neither eat it nor put
it in the bank. It's just a word to him. All in all, it is hardly
surprising that he utilizes a narrow and static view of human nature.
(Yes, he has really pulled a fast one this time, but that's an
entirely different story.) In closing, I consider this post to be
required reading for everyone who still cares that many lives have
been lost to ageism. Unfortunately, with our nation's media being as
controlled as it is, there's no way that this post will be widely
publicized. Therefore, I'm counting on you to pass on this post to all
of your e-mail contacts. Thank you.
Astrologically yours,
Hope Simmers
Try molding several layers of aluminum foil over your head like a

I read aand have read a lot of books. But like many I am recovering
from 27 years of attempted religious brainwashing that thankfully
never quite took. I'm from a mixed Catholic Jewish background and I
have heard enough bullshit to sink Noah's mythical ark.
So I am avoiding anything written by people who believe in magic. Pass
the Richard Dawkins please.
