Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments as follows:

Jon Stewart refused to apologize last night for the unprecedented
assault on Christian sensibilities he launched on April 16. In that
episode, “The Daily Show” featured a naked woman with her legs spread
and a nativity scene ornament placed between her legs; with the picture
on the screen, Stewart laughed at what he called the “vagina manger.” To
see the picture, click here.

Our effort against Stewart includes asking his most consistent sponsors
to pull their advertising (if necessary, we are not ruling out a boycott
of their products), and a lengthy public relations campaign. The goal?
To get him to apologize. If that doesn’t work, we can guarantee that his
reputation will never be the same.

Today we will contact Kraft, one of whose products, MiO Energy, was one
of the five sponsors that advertised on both the April 17 and April 18
episodes. Moreover, we will contact those on our “Allied Organizations”
list (over two days) to join this campaign. They will be asked to
contact Steve Albani, Senior VP of Comedy Central Communications, and Kraft.

This is just the beginning. Over the next several weeks, we will contact
every major Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Mormon and Muslim leader and
organization in the nation; they will be sent the picture, along with
Stewart’s remarks. We will contact Viacom (which owns Comedy Central,
home to “The Daily Show”) making sure that all board members and senior
management know about Stewart’s anti-Christian and grossly misogynist
attack. We will take out ads in newspapers, etc. We are not going away.

What Jon Stewart did ranks with the most vulgar expression of hate
speech ever aired on television. His incivility cannot go unanswered.
Contact Steve Albani, Senior VP Comedy Central Communications:

You forgot to mention that he's a South Park fan. If you mention this,
it will surely add strength to your argument, for even had the
creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, on his show at least once (and
one of their main characters makes fun of Jewish people regularly on
South Park).

I hope that helps.

I'm going to watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart now, and I'm going
to make sure I'm buying at least some of the products being advertised,
but more importantly I'm interested to see his response to this boycott
(assuming it's even well-known enough for him to notice).

What does that have to do with Catholicism? If it offends anybody, it
should be merkin manufacturers.

Is Mr 'Stewart' the hose-nosed bitter guy
on late night tv? Probably a Hindu? At any
rate, let's close ranks and bombard his
sponsors till he is cancelled. Our strategy
worked brilliantly with Keith Blubbermann,
who is actually on the streets panhandling.
And Danny Rather whose 'career' of frauds
and fakes was derailed when RUSH drew
a bead on Rather. Let's get busy, folks!

When the Catholic "church" makes proper reparations for all the child
abuse it might have some moral ground to point fingers, well, assuming
they have their fingers removed form the kid's arses.

How is this "god" so weak he cant just ignore it? Why does god need such
hate to exist? Why are these religious peado's more bothered about jokes
than poverty, etc?

Steward should not apologise, he should start a "war" on invisible
friends and moronic sheep followers.

If I had my way, I would simply slaughter believers and be done with it.
Religion is a cancer.

If the Catholic league wants to discuss the 'most vulgar expression of hate
speech', maybe they should just talk about the stuff their own people say,
like Roman Catholic Bishop Daniel Jenky comparing Obama (and really the
entire state of the US government) to Hitler and Stalin:

He had the plurality and the Royalists, corporatists and other
right-wingers thought they could control him so they agreed to form a
government with the NSDAP.

Depends on into what. The Social Democrats got more votes and more
seats in the Reichstag. Hitler was elected to his seat in the
Reichstag, but only became Chancellor because of a deal to form a
coalition government to keep the party that had the largest plurality
out of power.

2073 Obedience to the Commandments also implies obligations in
matter which is, in itself, light. Thus abusive language is forbidden

Do you realize you used an all encompassing anti-semitic argument to
accuse a Jewish comic in defense of the King of the Jews?

It doesn't excuse Stewart. That's a *really* offensive image.

And Stewart doesn't excuse that Catholic Bishop, whose remarks are
offensive in a different way. You'd think the Catholics would have
learned to stay out of politics by now, at least in matters where they
aren't directly involved.

Stewart doesn't need to be excused. If you don't like his show, don't
watch it.

I just watched the offending episode. It was a good one.

*** spoilers ahead ***

The context, for those who haven't seen it, is that Stewart is examining
the GOP's denial that there is a "War on Women", while playing up the "War
on Christmas" last November. The punch line was the idea that women
need a Christmas-icon type guardian to keep the GOP out of their vaginas.
It really was quite clever.

If Donohue and his ilk want to be outraged, they should be outraged at the
hypocrisy of their own constituents. Oh, wait, they *THRIVE* on it.
Never mind.
