If Rasmussen is not biased toward the right, why are they polling with
misleading questions?
Lately there has been discussion of changing the world reserve currency
from the US dollar to something new. This means that when china loans
the US money, the dollar can drop in value without china's investment
losing value. In essence, all currencies will be "backed" by this stable
global currency.

Rasmussen recently polled on a completely different issue: replacing the
US dollar as the CURRENCY OF THE UNITED STATES. Democrats are not
pushing for this, and nobody is even talking about the idea except
right-wing republicans who are outraged about the possibility of it
happening. They can relax, nobody wants to do this.

Here are the questions asked in the Rasmussen poll:
------------------
National Survey of 1,000 Adults
Conducted March 29-30, 2009

By Rasmussen Reports

1* How closely have you followed news reports about proposals from China
and the United Nations to replace the dollar with a new global currency?

2* A bill has been introduced in Congress to prevent the dollar from
being replaced by a new global currency. Would you favor or oppose a law
that prevents the dollar from being replaced by a new global currency?

3* Are proposals to create a new global currency primarily designed to
help the global economy or to weaken the economic power of the United
States?

4* How important is it to you that the dollar remain the currency of the
United States very important, somewhat important, not very important,
not at all important?
--------------------

You'll note that all of these questions are about "replacing the dollar
with a new global currency". This is not the issue being discussed in
Washington. What's being discussed, as I described above, is switching
to a new global RESERVE currency, instead of using the dollar as the
global RESERVE currency.

Do you think that this obfuscation is deliberate?

NOTE:
My stance on these issues is irrelevant. I'm just talking about accurate
polling here. A misleading question is a misleading question.
Obfuscation is obfuscation, regardless of whether it comes from the left
or the right. I would have the same objection to a poll containing the
question: "How important is it to you that we make sure that President
Bush didn't lead a conspiracy to demolish the twin towers on September
11, 2001?".
