The question is, why would anyone pay those kinds of prices for one
evening's mediocre entertainment?
Some explanations spring to mind:
1. Young adults "on the make" to meet hot/eligible numbers of the
opposite sex. Or to do job networking.
2. Older people on an ego trip to show the community how successful
they are (proving that they have more money than brains).
3. Wealthy benefactors who would give to the church, but want to be
visible about it.
None of these motives sound remotely "Christian" to me. Quite the
opposite -- this is the sort of behavior that Christ Himself condemned
in His own time.
***Maybe there's a contest to see who owns the most diners with Greek salad
on the menu!
