In the beginning there was but one religion: the Judaism.
in Judaism was born a man named Jesus.
For some he was the Messiah, Christ in the Greek
parlance, that was foretold by Moses in the book
of the second Law or Moses farewell speech.
Moses to the children of Israel:
"The Lord, your God will send you the Messiah
a prophet like myself, him, you shall listen. This is
what you asked for on the day of the assembly."
For the rest of the Law of observers and pharisees,
Jesus could not be the Messiah as the Law said,
"cursed is the one hung on the tree" and surely
Jesus was hung on the tree by the Roman soldiers.
So Judaism splitted in two groups.
The followers of Jesus as Christ were named Christians
and the rest of unbelievers were still practicing
their judaism.
But it came to pass, that a man named Paul
became Christian, acknowledging that truly Jesus
was the Messiah, that is to say Christ. After
joining the Christian movement, Paul became
the source of division. First he opened the faith
to the Gentiles, the outsiders and postulated that they
-the dirty Gentiles- did not have to become Jews by observing
Moses' Law or circumcise to please God. But some of the
pharisees that came to accept Jesus as the awaited Christ
were thinking otherwise.
So a meeting was held in Jerusalem to settle that issue
among the believers. A letter was written to advise
the Gentiles to observe the Noachit part of Moses Law.
At the same time, Paul was still sending some
letters out to tell the Gentiles not to bother
to follow Moses. Christ was all
Truly the Christian movement was on the verge
of division. Those that follow the Paulain edict, and those
that follow the pharisees instructions.
There was now three faith, Judaism and Christianity
and within Christianity, Paulism and Pharisaic
or Hebraic Christianity
that Paul in his epistle to the Galatian labbled as the Gospel of
circumcision.
Judaism, Paul's Christianity and Pharisaic Christianity were
the three main faith in Monotheism competing for
to get converts.
While Paul's Christianity was mainly accepted in the Greco
Roman world, Pharisaic Christianity was Hebraic in essence.
Greek and Romans settled their issue in the matter
of doctrines in Nicea and Constantinople and issued
a creed that was nothing but the summary of Paul's teaching
on God and Christ.
Thus Paul's teaching evolved in the Trinitarian faith of Catholicism
as it was backed up by the powerful state of the Roman-Empire.
Hebraic Christianity on the other hand had hard time
convincing the world that Moses was still relevant despite
the advent of the Messiah
It came to pass that their missionary zeal was heated up
by the fact that the Gentiles had divided their God
into three so trinity became their maine target...

How Hebraic Christianity evolved into Islam.

The Arab Pagans resistance to Hebraic Christianity.

How the Hebrew Christian Rabbis maneuvered

A case can certainly be made that monotheistic Judaism developed as an
echo of the monotheist heresy in the Egyptian religion in the 18th
dynasty.

The oldest religions are not known by us but probably stretch back

None of the Abrahamic religion evolved from those:
Christianity evolved from Judaism and gave birth
to two different faiths, Trinitarian Christianity and Islamic
Christianity

Excuse me: unlike you, I read for comprehension. You wrote:

That is patently untrue. If you had simply stated that "Judaism is
the first of the three monotheisms," or "Judaism is the earliest of
the three monotheisms," or "Judaism is the basis for both Christianity
and Islam," I wouldn't have had a problem. But you didn't say that.
You said that "In the beginning, there was but one religion: the
[sic] Judaism." That is *untrue*. There were many religions before
Judaism.

Actually, they did. All the Hebrews (who started out as Canaanites)
did was dump some stuff, keep the rest and add on whatever they
liked from other religions. They didn't just make up an entirely new
religion. All you have to do is study the religions that existed
around
them at the time to see this. The Christians started out as a reform
version of Judaism until the Jews were outnumbered. Then, people
like Saul/Paul started dropping bits and pieces, changing others
and bring in loads of stuff from the Mystery religions and just plan
pagan religions. A lot of the early saints were gods and goddesses
from pagan religions. And, Islam was practically a complete steal
from Judaism and Christianity with bits from their own pagan past.

I thought it was up to Darwin and his evolution to grant them?

You thought wrongly. It's just human nature to have some qualities that
define us, like generosity and empathy. They help the group, and thus
the individual.

But some humans are defective, either because of their education or some
hereditary or genetic error.

You are a defective human being, CB. It may not be your fault, so you
should just accept your fate, be a good boy, and leave usenet for good.

Thank you, and good luck.

Herodotus, [“The Histories” trans. by Robin Waterfield, Oxford Univ.
Press (1998)], makes no mention of Israel or Judaism. He mentions the
following practices of the Egyptians in Book II.

“Egyptians practice circumcision … write … from right to left …” [36]

“Everyone, without any exception, scrubs clean the bronze cup he uses
for drinking every day.” [37]

“… there is just one day of the year--the day of the festival of
Zeus-- when they chop up a single ram …” [42]

“Egyptians consider pigs to be unclean animals.” [47]

In Book I [131] Herodotus writes the following about the Persians: “It
is not one of their customs to construct statues, temples, and altars;
in fact they count those who do so as fools because (I suppose) they
do not anthropomorphize their gods as the Greeks do. Their worship of
Zeus consists in going up to the highest mountain peaks and performing
sacrifices; they call the whole vault of heaven Zeus.”

Note: Herodotus writes that the “Egyptians call Zeus ‘Amun’” [II.42].
The notes for I.131 (page 607) state: “H does not mention the most
important god, Ahura Mazda, by name but rather seems to call him Zeus,
the Greek equivalent (n. I.181)”

Max I. Dimont ["Jews, God and History," Signet (1962)] contrasts some
Greek and Roman values with Jewish ones and states that “Jews did not
bring up their daughters to become prostitutes in temples.” (p. 111)

In Book II.64, Herodotus writes: “The Egyptians were the first to ban
on religious grounds having sex with a woman within a sanctuary and
entering a sanctuary after having sex without washing first.”

In Book II.104, Herodotus writes: “Cholcians, Egyptians and Ethiopians
are the only peoples in the world who practice circumcision and they
have always done so. The Phoenicians and Palestinian Syrians are the
first to admit that they learnt the practice from Egypt, and the
Syrians who live in the land between the Thermodon and Parthenius
rivers, and their neighbors the Macrones, say that in their case it is
a recent import from Colchis. … The Phoenicians who have come in
contact with Greece have stopped copying the Egyptians with respect to
their genitalia, and do not cut off their children’s foreskins.”

According to Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermodon

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bart%C4%B1n_River

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macrones

the Thermodon and Parthenius rivers are the present Terme and Bartın
rivers in northern Anatolia, and the Macrones lived east of Pontus.

Coming from a Jewish family, probably a lot more than you.
Plus, I study religion. You?

I've been atheist since the age of twelve - fifty years - so, it's
not very likely that I'm going to voluntarily become a mind
slave Christian. Plus, a mind slave like you isn't about to teach
me much of anything. If I need information, I can go to other
members of alt.atheism, the Internet or my personal library
which I've been collecting since the age of thirteen.

Typical bigotted fundie. You can't get what you want through
spouting nonsense, so you attack. You're wasting your time
here, Whistletooter. You have nothing to teach anyone here,
obviously. All you are showing is your ignorance and conceit.

What do you have as evidence to corroborate his
opinion? Just because he is your GURU?
