Since when it it called the 'communion table'.
This kind of nonsensical raving gives all Christians a bad name.
In fact, the only accepted name in the Bible for someone who has
believed *into* Christ is.... Christian. This Baptist stuff.... does
it mean you believe in John the Baptist?
There is always some pretend to be Baptist posting with their legalistic
garbage. We have a lot of fringies. Baptism and Baptists use water, so
does the tub and the toilet. Many who worship the toilet of legalism call
themselves Baptists.

Hey Al,
Have you talked to your Psychatarist about Paxil or Prozac or Pamelor?
Of course if, as I suspect, you are just a plain idiot, I think they can help
with a nice group-home placement where an attendent can wipe that drool off
your chin and can be sure you change your underwear more frequently.

Nope Alvin, I don't find the '1st baptist of Jerusalem' in my Authorized
Version of the King James Bible of 1611, but I do find the Pentecostals
in ACTS 2:4.
However, we pentecostals don't believe that all baptists will be in
hell, nor all methodists nor all church of Christ, nor all Catholics.
We do believe they all must be "born again" as Jesus tells us in John
3:5. We pentecostals believe that if they are born again then they are
our brothers and sisters in Christ.
How do the 1st baptists of today feel about what I have posted here?

Jesus started his church (his bride). It was in the synagogues and the
Temple. Jesus never baptized anyone. Paul only baptized a very few.
The Church in Jerusalem was almost non-existent along with the Church in
Rome by AD 80. James was the leader of the Church in Jerusalem.
Jesus sent a letter to the remaining churches of importance through John
(John the Revelator).
The word Baptist is NEW (starting with Anabaptists) as for describing a
Church.
Regarding who will go to heaven: Of all the people on this news group who
claim to be Christian you are with the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons in
total error and false teaching and thus creating your own destiny. You will
be with them.

I agree with everything you said. I can't imagine Pentecostals in heaven
though. :>)
>God uses the simple things to comfound the intelegent,
Quite. However, I doubt very much that this context of 'simple' equates with
bad grammar, continually terrible typing and basic illiteracy.
Southern Baptists ("Baptists") do NOT have any doctrine, in the sense of an
official creed. The "1963 Baptist Faith and Message" is used as an
unofficial and optional confession or guideline. However, most Baptists in
the pews have never heard of it. This lack of an official doctrine has
resulted in a lack of adequate theological understanding on the part of many
clergy as well as most laity. We deprive ourselves of the accumulated
wisdom of prior generations; rather, each generation, 'reinvents the wheel'.
Baptist doctrine is sometimes influenced as much by denominational politics
as biblical study and theological reflection. But neither God nor Scripture
has changed.
The most serious result for Baptists is the current, widespread distortion
of the gospel and ignorance about the need for discipleship and spiritual
growth. Today, the lowest common denominator, and a misunderstanding of
that, is widely peddled as the gospel. Many Baptists say we only need to
have 'faith' and accept Jesus as our Savior. And faith is usually
understood as mere mental acceptance of the gospel. Therefore, many
Baptists say that there is no need for repentance, being born-again,
submission to Christ as personal Master and Lord. But Christ says, "If
anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and
follow me" (Mark 8:34). And, likewise, the Apostle Paul says that every
human being is a slave, either to obedience/righteousness or to self/sin.
Moreover, most Baptists have no idea whatsoever of the meaning and
significance of sanctification. But the Bible says that without holiness,
no one will see God. Sanctification is necessary for salvation (Romans
6:22-23).
How do I know so much about Southern Baptists? By what right do I make such
serious charges against them? Because I am a Southern Baptist minister,
called to deliver a prophetic message of warning about the current false
gospel which cannot save. WAKE UP! Reject those who preach and teach the
authentic gospel!

Yes and sanctification is imbued (TaDa Grace)
Let's change the question from the Baptist understanding to your own
viewpoint. What is YOUR understanding of the requirements for salvation?
If somebody wants to be saved and asks you how, what would you tell them?

Jesus said we must be born again.
If the person asks there is a high probabilty that the person has already
been convicted by the Holy Spirit.
The person usually needs only to not reject.
Discipleship is showing the person what their new life and love is all
about.
