lacking the finesse of weathered society-lions, like most people are pleased to
show off as, but bona-fide nevertheless (?) An emissary for the Gyu De Kun
Tus, (and being bona-fide is important because I'd be a fraud otherwise), and
being a bit out in left field is good because it proves I'm not an
agenda-driven person. An agenda-driven person, like most are here, would never
ever be out left field, but would on the contrary, do everything to appear calm
and collected, so as to better carry out their misdeeds, as one sees every day
on this ng. An emissary for the Gyu De Kun Tus, and a bona-fide emissary, whose
mission is to further the (good, virtuous) agenda of saving Tibetan Buddhism.
The emissary that I am, thus helps the putting in common of the needs and
wishes of the teacher, Phende Kenchen, and the disciples the two Karmapas, aand
after them all the rest of the Tibetan hierarchy-brass, intent on realizing the
Kalachakra Prophecy of saving the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism in our modern
times, now that the Chinese Reds have totally destroyed all the basis on which
it rested. Tibetan Buddhism now has no possibility to continue in our time, so
it must have an electric-shock jump-start to get it's heart beating again, and
this can only happen this way. All rests upon my posts here now because the
organisation of this initiation-cycle is not happening outside of me. I
represent the way to preserve Tibetan Buddhism through organizing the ceremony
that lasts a year. From Crazy-Yogi to Bona-Fide emissary for the Salvation of
Tibetan Buddhism, there's only a step and those that can't see it are certainly
the rigid-mind(set)frames that have also got problems with themselves and who
won't get themselves the shock jump-start treatment that so direly would have
needed if they had had another karmic set-up. One can't change one's
tiger-spots, indeed. Those people don't see their own benefit but on the
contrary see others' imagined short-comings. They don't see the log in their
own eye but rather the straw in others' eyes. They're A. not yogis and B.
crazy. No more than that unfortunately. Being Yogis would have been good too.
But they can be emissaries for the Kalachakra and the teachings I'm promoting
the organisation of. Now all has to be seen through me because I'm the oldest
in my Sangha and it is under my grip because my personality has made it's
imprint on all the Sangha and no one does anything outside me whether they like
it or not. I've been trying to get my Sangha to do things outside of me but now
I've completley given up as indeed they just wait for me and think everything
comes from me. So, in the last thirty-three years, indeed, all has really come
from me because people are so used to relying on others, which in this
particular case, is me.
I was content to have just a couple of temples hanging on to me, looking to
meas to some progigal son or Messiah or whatever idiocy they have in what they
call brains, but in the last three years I got two new temples latched on my
back in Taiwan and now also these two nnewbies the Karmapas. And as usual they
need everything from housing to clothing to grub. And to transport too. We'll
cope. I was a carefree student of Omniscient Phende Kenchen the totally
realized Buddha until now but after my recognition in '99 and then the new
temples that I took stock of in Taiwan that year too, well things have slowly
changed and I think about others now rather than just my little person.

Geir : By this, I outline that the whole thing depends on me, not because of
some intent on my side - but because of peoples's herd instinct within my
Sangha but also you here on ARBT. This thus determines in their case then, the
whole destiny of my guru Phende Kenchen, seeing he depends on his Sangha and
their attitute - or lack of such/ towards me. They treat me like a holy stone
or a shrine to myself; and thus have practically no attitude apart from
hallowing reverence, in silence. It's the typical French "swooning before the
Christ"-attitude.
Why does this affect ARBT ? Because all of you - be you from one chapel or
another, all together included, come under the spell and influence of Phende
Kenchen because he is the, now, sole holder of all the Tantras. Without the
Tantras, none of you, not a soul of you, can attain Full Enlightenment (because
this is the csole path trodden by all the Buddhas of the three times to attain
that fully enlightenment Freedom), so you're stuck with me. "Stuck in the
Middel with me".
You're bound by the Tantras of Phende Kenchen, as are also the Karmapas, and
likewise all Tibetan lamas.... and all masters worldwide.
But then you're bound by me, because of me being his seniormost disciple and
the sole remaining disicple of the old times, the only one taking into his
hands the present organizing of the saving of World Buddhism; that I'm dong
here.
You're uneducated and don't have the intitations. All the sacred texts attest
to the fact that without the intiation no Nirvana will be attained. This can be
quoted from all the holy texts. I don't do this because this is so common to
know and can be quoted so easily, that all will be aware of it or else they
cannot be called Buddhist.

Just being pernicketty but if you were really cunning, the three negatives
in that - 'never', 'pretended' and 'other than' - could hide a multitude of
'sins' and it's impossible to figure out what the natural reverse of the

A week in the US, such as I have just spent, is enough to make anybody feel a
trifle fed up with God, or rather with the relentless invocation of the deity
by American politicians, led by their president. No public occasion would be
complete without the blessing of the Almighty being sought for whatever
endeavor tops the agenda, most prominently the war in Iraq. The appeal to
faith, seldom mere ritual, is usually founded upon conviction.
There is an attractive rationalist case for insisting that candidates for
election anywhere in the world are required to sign a declaration forswearing
religious affiliation. Had this been done in Ireland a couple of generations
ago, think what we would have been spared.
Few modern political careers are compatible with religious principle.
Government by atheists would relieve us of the irksome moral conceit that
impels US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to do
deplorable things while remaining convinced that slots are kept open for them
in heaven.

Even among the enemies of democracy, at the extreme end of the scale it is
easier to deal with the Irish Republican Army, whose ambitions are political,
than Osama bin Laden, with whom there can be no negotiation, only global
submission to Islam.
I am not in the least anti-
religious. If pressed I would des-cribe myself as a social Anglican. Yet I find
myself increasingly eager to be governed by politicians who profess no
pretensions to a hot line to a higher power.
The West may find that the struggle against militant Islam is an inescapable
challenge of the 21st century, extending far more widely than the present
engagement with a few thousand fanatics. Most of us wish to explore every
avenue of accommodation before reconciling ourselves to armed conflict. Yet we
now face another four years at the mercy of a US president who perceives his
own God as foremost among White House advisors and regards the contest with
Islam as already begun.
The last British prime minister before Blair to perceive himself in a special
relationship with the Almighty was Gladstone. Yet, oddly enough, Gladstone
strongly resisted General Charles Gordon's attempts to force Christian Britain
into military confrontation with Islam in Sudan in 1884.
British foes of the Mahdi used many of the same arguments for deposing him as
were deployed by Bush and Blair against former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein:
shocking tyrant; unspeakably brutal to his own people; threat to the stability
of the region. Yet Gladstone rejected calls for intervention until Gordon, by
calculated self-immolation in Khartoum, excited British public opinion to such
a pitch that Gladstone felt compelled to act.
A relief force was belatedly dispatched up the Nile, which failed to reach
Gordon in time, and withdrew amid much public anger at home.
This might be described as Gladstone's first Gulf war. Its anticlimactic
conclusion provoked bitter criticism: for the failure to finish the job and
depose the Mahdi.
The Mahdi died, of course, leaving his Sudanese empire in the hands of a
successor, the Khalifa. The British launched their second Gulf war against
Sudan in 1898, in a spirit of unfinished business not dissimilar from that
which prevailed in the White House last year.
Kitchener duly disposed of the Khalifa and his Dervish followers at the battle
of Omdurman, with an application of firepower ruthless enough to delight US
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
The British thereafter ran Sudan for half a century. Their benign stewardship
became the best excuse for an imperialist adventure that otherwise possessed no
justification whatever.
Interestingly, while the British felt pleased with themselves for having
squashed Mahdism, they did not represent Omdurman as a triumph for
Christianity. It was perceived simply as a victory for the Union flag (to use
the British flag's official name).
Some of us would feel more comfortable today if US and allied foreign policy
could be discussed solely in temporal terms, without bringing God into the deal
at all. One of the more grotesque landmarks of the Bush presidency was
established this time last year, when the Los Angeles Times revealed that a top
general was touring Christian fundamentalist churches assuring congregations
that he knew "our side" would prevail in the struggle with Muslim extremism
"because our God is a real God" and the other side's was a phoney.
Now, every army has its share of lunatics. The litmus test is how their
political masters treat them. The world waited in vain for Rumsfeld to sack
this grotesque Strangelovian, whose words seemed to undermine every possibility
of constructive engagement with Islam.
It never happened, of course. I was in Washington while the little drama was
being played out. A defense academic said to me sardonically: "This
administration will never sack a general for saying things that every senior
figure in the Cabinet believes." And so it proved.
Bob Woodward vividly records in his book Plan of Attack an exchange with Bush,
in which he asked whether the president had discussed the Iraq invasion with
his father before making the decision to act. No, said Bush. He preferred to
consult his "higher father."
Many of us at the mercy of the US president, which means most of the world,
tremble in the face of this sort of thing. Even in the darkest days of 1940,
Winston Churchill never seriously invoked the deity, though he had vastly
better reason to do so than either Bush or Blair. Nor did Margaret Thatcher.
Today, the distortion of biblical teaching by American Christian
fundamentalists, almost all allies of Bush, to support Israeli imperialist
claims on the West Bank, significantly increases the difficulties of achieving
a settlement in the Middle East. The political leverage exerted by the
fundamentalists in the US against any surrender of biblical territory to
Muslims is likely to grow greater, not smaller.
Most of us recognize that
constructive action to rescue the Palestinians would do far more for the West's
long-term security than the draconian anti-terrorist legislation introduced by
Bush and now Blair. Yet no prominent Western statesman dares publicly to
question the role that God's American hijackers play in making the world more
dangerous.
I am not making a case for the appeasement of the West's Islamic critics and
enemies, but merely for policies likely to diminish the
fertility of terrorist recruiting prairies, based upon treating their religion
with common respect. Christian Crusaders were a menace to international peace
in the 12th and 13th centuries, Christian missionaries in the 19th. God spare
us from assertively Christian -- or Muslim or Jewish -- national leaders in the
21st, if that request is not blasphemous.

In Christmas Message, Martha Stewart Calls for Sentencing Reform, Says

NEW YORK (AP) - Martha Stewart, in a Christmas message posted on her
personal Web site, called Wednesday for sentencing reform and took a
swipe at the "bad food" in prison.
Stewart, who is roughly halfway through a five-month sentence for
lying about a stock sale, urged fans to think about the women she has
met in prison who are "devoid of care, devoid of love, devoid of
family."
She suggested Americans should push for reforms in federal sentencing
guidelines for nonviolent first-time offenders and particularly for
drug offenders, who she said would be better served by rehabilitation
than prison.
Stewart, who built a billion-dollar empire in homemaking, reported
that her job at the federal prison camp in Alderson, W.Va., has been
cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming and raking leaves.
"I have had time to think, time to write, time to exercise, time to
not eat the bad food, and time to walk and contemplate the future,"
she said.
Earlier this month, her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia,
announced Stewart would host a daytime talk show with a live studio
audience beginning this fall.
The company has been working with reality TV pioneer Mark Burnett, and
shares of the media company have soared since Stewart reported to
prison - although they have fallen back somewhat in recent weeks.
Stewart is due to be released in early March from prison, then must
spend five months confined to her home in Bedford. The television show
is scheduled to air after the five months of house arrest end.
