>Today is the 75th birthday of Charles Manson, musician, artist, folk
>hero, and political prisoner currently being crucified in the
>California State Prison at Corcoran.
>
>St. Charlie was born to an unwed teenage mother, who once traded him
>for a pitcher of beer. Charlie eventually took the surname of his
>stepfather, though did not really have much of a relationship with him
>since his mother shipped him off to live with Uncle Jess in West
>Virginia.
>
>Unwilling to play the game, the System locked Charlie up for almost
>his entire youth, and prison was the only real home he had known when
>he was finally paroled in March of 1967.
>
>Charlie found himself drawn to San Francisco, where the legendary
>Summer of Love was about to begin. Charlie fit in quite well with the
>counterculture, and the love and happiness he exuded attracted many
>followers, and soon the Family was born.
>
>Some claim Charlie brainwashed everybody with acid, an accusation he
>rejects since everybody was already on acid when he arrived in San
>Francisco, and in fact some kid on the corner of Haight and Ashbury
>gave him a tab of acid.
>
>Charlie also rejects claims that he recruited members of the Family,
>arguing that he never picked up anyone that somebody else hadn't
>discarded.
>
>St. Charlie became a martyr when he was accused of masterminding the
>murders of some celebrities in the Los Angeles area in 1969. Denied
>of the right to represent himself at trial, Charlie was convicted of
>conspiracy and sentenced to death along with several members of the
>Family.
>
>Whether it was an incredible stroke of luck, fate, or divine
>intervention, Charlie avoided the gas chamber when the California and
>later the U.S. supreme courts overturned the death penalty, commuting
>all death sentences to life in prison.
>
>Since California had no life without parole at the time, Charlie is
>eligible for a parole hearing at least every five years, but will
>obviously never be released, since he is being crucified on the prison
>cross.
>
>The prison system treats Charlie like a rabid dog, throwing him in the
>Hole for the most minor infractions. They seem absolutely terrified of
>this fairly short old man, not because of any physical threat he
>poses, but because of what he represents. Charlie tells the truth,
>and they don't want to hear that, so they crucify him.
>
>But despite the persecution, Charlie's message is being heard, and he
>has fans all around the world. Charlie receives hundreds of letters a
>week from devoted followers - honorary Family members who are there
>with Charlie in spirit, even if we can't be with him in person.
>
>So I wish Charlie a happy birthday, even though he will celebrate in
>the Hole. I'm off to bake a cake in his honor, complete with an 'X'
>in red icing.

No. Tate et al. were liberals (you know, Hollywood liberals). Mason is
a teabagger...
Mason? James Mason? Well, I suppose his portrayal of Captain Nemo as a
man on a mission to spread freedom and end the depredations of an
overpowering, over-reaching tyranical empire does have more than a
little of the "teabagger" about him.
> I hear that he doesn't know how to surf.
I remember that shirt... "Chuck don't surf"
Like any other racist the cure for chuck is a bullet in the left ear.
For curing socialism you insert the bullet in the right ear. Curing
the facists requires an application of 157gr of pure lead to the base
of the skull...I've found that 850-900fps nominal returns the best
results YMMV

"Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be"
