Your god, that invisible old ogre in the sky, doesn't exist. God is
whatever or whomever you idealize and seek to emulate and live up to.
But that goes both ways, for when your ideal which you seek to live up
to is to escape life, because you find life intolerable, then destroying
yourself by i.e. drugs or alcohol is your god, or rather devil, because you
live in hell and seek oblivion. Where we seek eternal life, a lot of
atheists seek oblivion.
Our Christian "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16) become fully manifested in
Jesus Christ giving His life for us sinners on the cross of Calvary. We
therefore know our God and have seen Him through Jesus Christ, our Lord
and Saviour. (Jesus in John 14:6-10)
Atheists don't know our God and therefore can't see manifestations of
love and care in human beings, and to the death if need be, such as we see
in Jesus Christ. (Jesus in John 3:3)

That is where you are very lost. You do not need a god to live life by the
"values" you say comes from god. Why those values come from man, god is made up.
The idea of god came about to force those ideals on civilization and to control
that civilization.
