anything about Seth and if some other book says something else it was ADDED

of context. It really means that we should use every means necessary before
becoming provoked to violence against anotherperson (and bythat he meant his
Jewish bretheren). However later he tells his men to go out and buy swords
(against Roman Law by the way, which would make them all criminals and
subject to execution as insurgents). So we know that Jesus was not wholly
ingorant of his position and that violent force might have to be met with
violent force. After all, Peter chopped off a soldier's ear in defense of

good virus protection is the ticket. But she is just trying to make others
believe we are evil virus puking hackers...hilarious, since I've been
fighting the whole hacker elite here on this NG for years! And you are
right, you can't send a virus to one person, since the whole idea of the
virus is to replicate itself. She probably sent it to her own mother via her
own e-mails! (Not her fault, just how things work...Her mother might have
even sent it to him). But to sit around trying to convince others that we
are evil and worse, that we are evil because we attacked her god Elph! Well
that just beats all! He' s being led around by her nose by this Elph entity,
probably some demon or djinn or pest he picked up playing her occult games.

Viruses are a fact of life, especially using Windows (since so many

minutes. That means, turn off your firewall and antivirus, and in about 16
minutes, you're infected. You can't blame infection on someone who happens
to disagree with you on a newsgroup. In fact, you probably can't get
infected unless you use a valid e-mail address they can send a virus to. I
don't see any other way they could infect you. But just by using a
computer online, you can get infected easily.
I think Elph is "Elf", actually. I've noticed Azure seems to spell things
in unique ways, so possibly Elph is Elf.

OK, I just Googled "Sasser". That's a worm. A worm is a rogue program, a
"virus" that can infect computers automatically. That means that once they
are released, they can get into any unprotected computer.
This worm has been out since May at least. There is a Microsoft patch to
protect against it, and any antivirus program worthy of the name will
protect against it - *IF* you keep the antivirus program up to date.
I suggest that you go to the following site:

This Website is for Symantec, which is a well-known antivirus company that
sells a full range of computer security software - antivirus, firewall,
e-mail security, etc. Get this, or something like it, and learn how to use

The sasser worm does not require any malice to infect your system. It is
out there on the Internet, on infected computers, trying to find
unprotected computers to infect. It seeks random IP numbers.
The fact that you have been infected by a worm does not show that anyone has
"sent" that worm to you. It shows that you don't know how to protect your
computer from a threat that has already been responded to by the security
software companies and by Microsoft. Rather than complain about how
someone "sent" you this worm, you should focus on learning how to avoid
getting infected. If you don't know what you're doing, then you are going
to get infected a lot, because there are a lot of compromised systems out
there spewing viruses, worms, and other junk out to everyone on the
Internet. Without protection, you'll be infected in a very short time.
Bottom line: your computer was not a victim of my malice, but of your own
ignorance. Learn how to use your tools, and stop blaming others for your
own inadequacies.

That is correct. It filters you out, so that you do not appear on my
computer. Only the computer I used to put you in the killfile, will filter
you out. If I go to another computer, even in the same room, on the same
network, you will show up. I would have to put you in the killfile on each
computer, in order to be rid of you. What I do here, putting you into a
killfile, does not affect anyone else's computers, nor does it affect your
ability to post messages.

Yes, you will be sending just as before. My killfile does not affect your
ability to send messages. If it did, that would be interfering with your
right to express yourself, and that would be wrong. The only computer my
killfile affects is the one I use. Everyone else in the world would still
hear you, loud and clear. Only I would miss your pearls of wisdom. It is
as though I put my fingers into my ears so I wouldn't hear you. Everyone
else would still hear you - and you could talk without interference. Only
my own ears would be blocked.
You have a killfile on your computer. It's built into most newsreaders. It
looks like you're using Netscape. You should have an option somewhere on
your menu to "block message", or "block sender", or something like that.
It has been a long time since I've used Netscape, so I don't remember how
it's done, but it's not too hard to find it. You might even be able to
right-click on the offending poster's message, and select a "block sender"
option there.
Almost everyone can do this, somehow. The exact method may vary, but just
about everyone can block messages from particular people who offend or
annoy them. It's kind of like anti-spam for newsgroups.

Rex didn't do that. Neither did I. Whenever you post a message, Google
archives it within a few hours, and whatever you said is immortalized
forever. Or until Google purges its archives, whichever comes first. If
you sent your address, then it's on Google, and anyone can find it, and
many people will. There are automated programs called "bots" that harvest
e-mail addresses that appear publicly, such as on a newsgroup. They then
send you spam and other delights.
Your worm (assuming it's Sasser) probably wasn't sent to you via e-mail.
Unless you incautiously opened an infected e-mail, you probably didn't get
it that way.
According to the information I sent you, Sasser scans IP numbers for
vulnerable systems. That means that it tries certain numbers (these look
like this: 12.34.56.78, four sets of numbers separated by dots), hoping
that a computer at that number responds. If the computer responds (that
is, if the firewall isn't working right, or isn't present), then the worm
sends a copy of itself to the computer to infect it. This method does not
require any e-mail address at all.
Your IP number doesn't show up in your headers. Mine does, which makes me
theoretically more vulnerable to an attack, since someone could use that
number to access my computer. This risk is minor, because my IP number
doesn't stay the same. Whatever it is today, it is likely to be something
else tomorrow. Some people have static IP numbers, that stay the same.
They may be at risk. If you have cable access, this might apply to you.
Still, with firewall and antivirus, you should be OK. And as I say, I have
no way of determining what your IP number is.
It may be possible for a competent cracker to infect you through your IP
number, but the odds are very good that the infection was random. At any
rate, Rex isn't a cracker of any sort, and neither am I.
Your information about us is as flawed as all the rest.

Rex and I are distinct. Rex lives in Arizona, I in Illinois, and we have in
the past had some fierce arguments.

There are some knuckleheads who do this. They think they're proving
something by hammering on Windows's vulnerabilities. They do use Linux.
There are two reasons for this. One, Linux is far more secure than
Windows, meaning the Black Hat is less likely to get a taste of his own
medicine. Two, Linux simply has far more powerful tools for wreaking havoc
on other systems. Aside from ready-made tools like ping, traceroute,
finger, telnet, and dozens more, it has a complete programming environment
so the enterprising Black Hat can create his own tools, if he has the
skill.
However, Rex uses Windows and couldn't care less about Linux. I do use
Linux, but I am not, nor have I ever been, a Black Hat. In fact, I use
SuSE Linux, though I also have used Red Hat.
Linux users in general are not crackers. Crackers prefer Linux simply
because it's more powerful and safer.

This happens because sometimes you're in the killfile, and I don't see your
post. But I do see your text, in Rex's replies to you, and sometimes I
reply to your text, in Rex's post. This is one of the side-effects of
using a killfile. You may still wind up seeing someone's replies, and then

True story: Years ago, I was surprised to see a newspaper vendor (for a
small, political paper) hawking her paper announcing that China had
attacked Albania. This was a case of a country of nearly a billion people
attacking one with only a few million or so, something like that. It would
have been over before it started. Turned out, the "attack" was that China
had discontinued sending financial aid to Albania.
My own version of an attack is that it occurs when someone begins to call me
names, rather than to focus on the issues we're discussing. So if we're
talking about angels or God or whatever, I don't consider myself attacked
if someone tells me I'm wrong; or if they claim my logic is faulty, or if
they otherwise object to my ideas or my beliefs. If they call me names, or
begin to make claims that I'm stupid, ignorant, crazy, etc., then I
consider it an attack. Certainly if they threaten or if they try to infect
with a virus, it's clearly an attack.
Some people consider it an attack if someone tells them they're wrong, if
they disagree with anything they say. Kind of like China attacking
Albania.
The thing is, almost everyone loses his temper now and then, especially when
his cherished ideas are being criticized or trampled on. Then they may
call me names even though they're really not trying to attack - maybe I've
just hurt their feelings or gotten them very angry. Maybe I was being too
flippant about something they consider sacred. So they more or less lash
out, for a moment. That's kind of an attack, but I don't consider it too
important if it's just a short outburst.
I don't know what Rex has been doing. It may be that he's been lashing out
at you (and he can dish it out with the best of them when he wants to).

had replied to my post instead of his. That might be why you seemed to be
accusing me of so many unreasonable things - you weren't meaning to talk to
me, but to Rex.

Anyway, I didn't call you a liar; I said you were lying. There is a
significant difference. Calling someone a liar suggests that lying is what
they do, that lying is the most noticeable trait they have. Saying that
someone is lying only suggests that, at the moment, for whatever reason,
they're lying. They might otherwise be good people, but their behavior is
inappropriate right now.
One attacks the person; the other attacks only the person's actions.

This is another example of the burden of proof falling to the claimant. You
claim I attacked you; I deny it. You need to show me where I did it,
because you're making the claim.

I don't really "take the part" of anyone. I may agree with someone, but as
likely as not, I'll disagree with them in the next post. That's how
newsgroups are - there's always a give and take, bouncing around between
ideas, one moment agreeing with you, another with Anatid/Rex, then with

When you seemed to be accusing me of sending a virus, I naturally sided with
Rex, who was also accused of the same thing. Why not? You put us both

An *attempt*? You're complaining about an *ATTEMPT*???
Listen, these worms are AUTOMATED. They are computer programs that are
designed to automatically seek out and infect vulnerable computers. They
do not require any human intervention at all - they will keep on working
without anyone's help or participation. As long as there is even one
infected computer out there, there will always be attempts to find more
vulnerable machines. There are hundreds or even thousands of infected
machines, all ready to nail the next unprotected computer that goes online.
They'll still hammer on the protected ones - "attempts" are inevitable.
You are *always* going to be having attempts. That is why you have a
firewall - to keep the attempts from getting into your computer.
The average time to infection of an unprotected computer running Windows is
about sixteen minutes. I have personal knowledge of this, because I got
zapped as I tried to install Windows. It was nothing personal. It had
nothing to do with anyone "sending" a virus or worm to me. It had
everything to do with the fact that people out there are infected, don't
know it, and don't do a think about it. Their computers are endless
sources of worms, viruses, and all that junk.
You should be getting lots of attempts, every day. This is nothing new, and
certainly it doesn't show that anyone is sending you anything.
Now, if you keep on being rude to me, I really am going to put you into my
killfile and leave you there for a long time - like maybe, forever. Not
that you seem to care, but you should know that I'm really, really getting
tired of your rudeness. I haven't done anything to deserve this treatment.
I won't keep overlooking it - normally, people get about three insults
before I plonk them. You've had way more than your quota. It's Christmas,
but that only goes so far. Besides, I'm Jewish.

I do find that my poem was quoted. It may be a bit "rough", but I was kind

elevated train tracks. It's about a pigeon, nothing more. I did not
attack you in that poem. Sorry you didn't like it, though. I thought it

The first post (Such Hypocrisy) contained no insults. Nothing at all. The
third (the one after the poem) has no insult from me. It has some from
Rex, but that's not me. Same with #4 - no insult from me, though you might
not like some of my observations. But nothing insulting, not even by

Still - if you could pull out just one sentence, show it to me, I will
apologize. But not for disageeing with you. I get to do that. I don't

What does the Constitution have to do with karma? All I said is that
whatever we send out, has a tendency to come back to us. Do you understand
the concept? It's like an echo. If you say nasty words, the echo will

In this case, you were trying to imply that the virus Saint got, was his
"karma". Maybe it is. Probably it's all karma. But then, the virus you

Actually, Saint isn't able to do this. He doesn't have the required
knowledge of the Internet and of computers. I know Saint. I've known him
for probably five years. True - he might have lied to me all along, hidden
his skills from me, and so on, but I really doubt it. To Saint, the
computer is a tool for communication, not a weapon. He doesn't care about
programming, or writing viruses, or playing dirty tricks with them. We've
talked about things like viruses, and his interest in them is only about
how to avoid getting hurt by them. Saint's main concern about computer
security is trying to avoid other people doing him harm. Unless he's a
consummate actor and has maintained his role for five years, he's wholly
innocent of sending you any sort of a worm, virus, or other harmful thing.
And beyond that, Saint is using Windows, which doesn't come with the tools
he'd need to pull something like this off. He'd have to buy them, and
they're expensive.
Remember, I'm the one who uses Linux and who programs. I didn't do it,
either - I don't have the knowledge or the skills, but at least I do have
the tools.

There is no "judgement" outside of our own. God isn't going to punish me

If it were my "karma" to get a virus, then it is everyone's karma to get a
virus because everyone gets one, computer or biological. bad things do not
happen to us because of karma. Because of karma we place ourselves in this
world where we KNOW bad things will happen to us. But no one deserves a

That's another issue I hadn't even thought of - there are certainly some
nasty worms out there, that do a lot of damage. A W32 whatever wasn't
among the ones that did this. As I recall now (I think I had that one), it
basically gets in and propagates, and does little else. Some were really
nasty, erasing files, sending random files to people (meaning, personal
stuff, programs, anything on the hard drive).
But notice - Azure wasn't complaining about getting infected, (s)he was
complaining that there was an attempted exploit. I just today began
reading a book about honeypots, and one statistic this author mentioned was
that in early 2002, on average a home system was attacked (not infected,
just attacked) 31 times a day, which means more than once every hour. By
2004, there were about 4 attempts per hour. So that leaves me wondering
why (s)he only has this one single attempt to complain about.

Judgement is a scary story told by people who were otherwise powerless to do

As you may already know, in the US, you have to first show that someone has
been guilty of a crime. That means, a person is considered innocent until
he is found guilty in a court of law. This has not happened, so there is
no point in discussing anything about an accomplice.
You would do well to refrain from playing lawyer with me. This is my
occupation (paralegal, not attorney). I am in Federal Court every week,
and I am constantly working on cases involving police misconduct, among
other things.

But for purposes of edification, I was really thinking how Missy Azure likes
to equate herself with monsters, the Minotaur, which ate human flesh, the
Anti-Christ, Gog and Magog who go to war against the Church on the side of
the Great Beast. She is a "wild bull" (out of control Taurean), and equates
herself with other monsters, like the Sphinx or harpies, or faeries all of
which she then tries to tell us are actually "the good guys." She obviously
thinks of herself as an outcast from the rest of society who is destined to
raise an army of other freaks and monsters to take-over the world in the
name of her god Elph.
A lot of supposedly occult knowledgeable people who come here always try to
turn old ideas into new by preaching how the monsters of old are actually
heroes who never got their just due in history!
So I want her to know that the dragon or monster slayer, the destroyer of
Bel and Typhon and Set, are those who battle the forces of darkness, chaos
and entropy, which people like Azure want to unleash onto the world thinking
these forces to be better than the ones in the world they are not a part of.
It is unfortunate that in history, the "monster" (which means "warning" in
Latin), is indeed a foreteller of bad things, of plagues, wars, famines and
death. Like a comet or "disaster" (evil-star") the monster born to regular
people, the "freak" or those who are not physically right coming from the
womb, have always been pegged with being the harbingers of doom. Whether it
is a two headed goat or a poor baby with flippers for hands, these were
called monsters by the Romans and Europeans, which meant portents. Of course
the hermaphrodite and the homosexual, the blind or the hydroencephalitic
baby, were presumed to be curses from God or the gods or to bear tidings of
such curses to come.
Azure is having a psycho-religious melt-down based on his own inability to
simply accept herself as what he-she is. A person born with a little of both
sexes. No longer are people like that considered monsters or "abnormal" in
scientific circles, or in liberal circles. However because of Fundy Xtianity
and perhaps because Missy Azure has read way too many old texts which all
come from the ancient position of prophecy, dire warnings and occult
doctrines, (not science and logic), she has made himself into a monster!
This is an unhappy state indeed. Someone called him/her a monster, or she/he
took that appellation from somewhere and now tries to make it seem that the
"straight world" has things topsy-turvy and it is the "normals" and
"straights" (or "pinks" as we Subegenii call them!) who are destined to fall
away and be cast into outer darkness, while her "tribe" the tribe of
outcasts from nature and God's mercy (according not to me, but to her!) will
rule in the stead of the normals, this because of how badly the "freaks"
were treated by the "pinks."
Oddly I always have though of myself as a "freak" since I was a hippy from
age 12 on, because I too had a thing against normal or straight society. I
was an artist and a poet and a dreamer. I never fell into line with the
regular folks of this world. And yet here is Azure coming to call me a
rotten egg and a member of the elitist pinks who want to hurt her and her
tribe. (A number of people have come here and never getting to know me, feel
that same way about me. Which is hurtful and mean-spirited). She never once
presumed for an instant that you and I and many of us who feel different,
outcast and put-upon because of either our disabilities or our beliefs, are
part of her "monster tribe!" Hell, even Picasso thought of himself as a
minotaur! Most artists feel abandoned by society. Yet she claims we are the
dregs of Pink Society, willing to infect her computer, or even kill her as a
sacrifice to our Biblical God!
Hers is a deep neurosis which is quickly becoming a psychosis. If he isn't
writing already from an institution I'd be surprised. Her continued passing
from being lucid into complete gibberish which only she understands (if
indeed she does), shows a mind which is betraying a descent into madness.
The paranoid delusions about her being killed and rising from he dead, of
being one of the Two Witnesses of Revelations, and of being a monster of
nature, are all signatures of someone "becoming." But what he is "becoming"
crazy. And that is sad.

That's "daemon". Can't even spell it... anyway, a mailer daemon isn't
malware. It's a specific piece of software used to handle mail. My
computer has one. It's no big deal. It's part of my Linux distribution.

Your knowledge, while certain, is wholly incorrect. I have made an
intense study of viruses, worms, and other malware, and also the means by
which we can defend against them. There wouldn't be any viruses, if
someone wasn't writing them. So right there you're wrong, because I am
aware of the problem of malware.
The problem that you're having is taking it personally. While it is true
that there are script kiddies and crackers out there who enjoy causing
problems, that's just the tip of the iceberg. More troubling is that some
of these people - whose programming skills are more developed than their
ethics - have created entire software packages that completely automate
the infection process. Not only that, but over the years they have
perfected the techniques to make them more effective.
In the olden days, a worm would randomly scan the whole range of IP
numbers for vulnerable computers. This was wasteful, because huge blocks
of these numbers are unused. More recent worms use smarter scanning
techniques to save time, meaning they're more likely to find ripe,
vulnerable computers.
Once released, a worm will attempt to infect computers, period. That's
what they do - they spread themselves as far as possible. The recent
Santy worm is an example of this. It only affected Websites using older
versions of phpBB. Still, it defaced those sites and kept track of each
generation of itself. I did a Google search and found generation numbers
as high as 31. Even if each generation of worms only infected two new
machines, the total number of infected machines would have been
4,294,967,295 (that's (2^32)-1, just in case you care). That's more
systems than exist, so obviously this thing didn't succeed in doubling
each time. The point is that after 30 generations, a worm will have
infected huge numbers of machines.
And remember, each of the infected machines now would be trying to infect
even more machines, rattling the doors, so to speak. Naturally, some of
them would try your machine. That's how it works, with any worm or virus
that spreads.

Black hats are responsible for *all* the viruses out there, actually.
They created them. But they are not actively doing the infection. They
start the programs and let them run, but almost all of the traffic results
from the automated programs, not from manual efforts. There just aren't
that many black hats out there to cause all of that traffic.
Rex is not a black hat. Rex has no interest in computers as weapons, but
uses them only as communication tools. I've known Rex for five years now,
and though we've had many disputes (and even flame wars), we've also
shared concerns about issues such as viruses. While I admit the
possibility that Saint could have lied to me all these years, and been
effective in hiding his computer skills from me, I seriously doubt it. He
has told me of being victimized by black hats, of having a Website
defaced, of getting viruses in his e-mail and so on. He has been a
victim, not a perpetrator, not a black hat.
