Mine died at the 11 month point. i think it's the battery. I bought
it at Hammeberger shamberger....not there real name and got the life
time guarantee so I may send it back.

How's the mileage going on the other Roomba's out there. I remember
how thrilled we all were when we got them.

still love it, and call them direct, when ours passed to the vacuum bridge
DH called, and even though we suspected it was murdered by one of the cats,
they happily informed him no they don't repair them... shocked because when
the battery went bad they sent a new one immediately... he sat there stunned
and she says, here is your number, he says, number, for what, she says, so
when you return it we can send you a new one, everyone was thrilled, except
a yellow cat who isn't admitting anything but stares at it when it goes by,

So are you all pro-Roomba? Cos I have been toying with getting one for
about a year. But am afraid to make the plunge. But thus far I have
heard mostly good things and my gosh- does it ever seem like a great
idea for those of us who HATE vacuuming. Lug Lug Lug.
Any other pros or cons on the roomba?

Funny you should ask. I've been thinking of getting one for my mom's
new place. My cousin has one and loved it until her grandchildren came
over. Small toys left on the floor need to be picked up first.

I've been considering getting one. Anyone have the Scuba? I've been
looking at them too.

I love mine. Vacuuming has become as mindless as dishwashing. :-) The only
"pain" is that you have to clean out the brushes after every use, but to me,
that's akin to unloading the DW. Brief moment of unpleasantness instead of
having to continually face what to me is a very unpleasant chore; well,
actually, I didn't vacuum before I got Roomba, either (just let my cleaning
folks do it monthly), but it now stays very clean-looking around here for
the whole month instead of looking decidedly seedy by the end of it.

Okay. I called tech support. The number is coonveniently located on
the bottom of the machine. the young man walked me through several
maneouvers and it is now charging. We'll see if it works in 3 hours.
I hope so!

they really are good with the service/support, as good as the product, makes
the money worth it, and since we got ours so very cheap even better, good

my machine is stil broken, so, I called Hammacher Schlemmer and they
said to send it back for a full refund and they will send me a new
one.

This is especially impressive since I bought the origonal for Xmas
2005.
It should be here in a week!

I remember. I got mine because so many of my internet friends had
them and loved them and the commercials showing how they worked made
them look friendly and easy to use. But Lee, your comment pushed me
over the edge in my final buying decision: "DH and I don't like to
vacuum and that isn't likely to change."

While two of you are impressed with the customer service, I find it
appalling that both your machines have needed replacement so quickly.
From what I have gathered from other Roomba owners you are not alone,
the machines just break easily. I can't see myself buying a vacuum
with that kind of poor track record. I need something I can count on
for years of service, not something to mail back for repair or
replacement often.

I don't know how big an area shug has to vac or
what kind of hair her pets have, but Lee has
several cats. Cats shed a lot.

I;ve got about 1500 sq ft and had 2 Scotties at the time. I really
liked it whiile it was working. I think there's some kind of short in
the battery or the charging station that developed around month 11.
It only charges for about 45 minutes (should do for 3 hours) and then
only runs correctly for about 2 minutes.

I should have handled this last November.

no other vacuum I have had has done any better, and I have six cat all of
who feel it is their duty to shed enough fur every day of the year so that
if I actually had a homemaking gene of any kind I could knit another cat.
and the battery is what quit on mine the first time, the second thing is I
suspect an attempted assassination by my big yellow tom, Lee
