Sitting here on the sofa in the den (which is in pretty good shape), I
see to my right the deck, which is pristine (but needs a paint job)
all he way out to the back fence of my newly trimmed yard (more on
that later).
To the left: the dining room: silver cabinet, a small pile of
clothes and a picture in a frame piled on top, dining table, heavily
piled with junk and boxes and on 3 chairs. Counter between kitchen
and dining room and its two chares piled full with same.
Far side of kitchen: Two delivery boxes on the very clean floor (one
from Talbots, one with the new replacement Roomba....other has not yet
been sent back) a pile of mail, all the stuff that had been on top of
the old microwave (lots of misc junk and mail) stove top covered with
junk and mail (dead stove). Pristine, brand new white microwave and
toasteroven, nice exiwsting white rice cooker (35 years old, works
great.) Two under cabinet hang bins (white) filled with mail that was
already sorted and put aside for "later".
Yuck!
I feel over whelmed. there is more of similar on the counter to the
side i cant see and still some dishes in the sink and some clean ones
i haven't put away yet.
The good news...no ants...I think.
What was that mantra? Put on some music....stet timer...Just do
anything I'm willing to do at this time?
shug
Do a little bit every day, bring less stuff in -- you can do it!
Suggestion: Begin by bringing some of the already-sorted mail near
three containers: a box for "keep -- needed for records," a box for
"Need to answer," a wastebasket for "What made me think I needed to
save this?"

Thanks, Dan. Your input is always greatly appreciated!
I find doing something everyday works best for me and really adds up
big time, even if it's only an hour a day on a big project, even if
it's just one small thing on the bad days. Often just one small thing
leasds to a spurt of more stuff.
Happily Ive cut my eBay addiction down to zero, my shopping down to
only things that can be returned with a reciept and even that is not
wild with the help of a mood stablizer (manic depression...pretty well
stablized these days) and 98% of the stuff that has been coming in and
staying in has been stuff i need and actually use these last 5 years
or so. big victory for me.
Yesterday I concentrated on the kitchen. I did the dishes, sorted
shreded and generally dealt with the pile of incoming mail...lots of
it. I'll have to get to the presorted bins later because Im
dealing with counters and horizontal surfaces reclaimation now because
thats whats bugging me at this time but the meathod you suggested is
the one I actually used. Im pretty sure I
