Suppose at those Pearly White Gates they say something like "You
haven't really saved any souls all by yourself, but you do have some
good "assists" to your credit. Unfortunately your behavior,
particularly on Usenet, turned off a bunch of people who swore they
would never get involved with Christianity let alone Catholicism. As
such, the bad stuff you did in your life far outweighs the good." Do
you think you'll get a pass because "your heart was in the right
place"? How would you feel knowing you irritated some folks so much
they went to Hell because of the way you acted?

They wouldn't tell me that because "I can't save souls". Christ decides who
passes the test for salvation. And that remains in the hands of the individual
sinner.

Interesting. Can you tell me "how I turned them off"? I see my challenge to
their beliefs as exactly what God calls me to do.

I can't send them to hell. Perhaps you can advise what you see me do. After
all, God SPECIFICALLY calls Christians to admonish the wrongdoer. The classical
wts and her lot are in deep trouble for supporting the murder of the human
unborn.

So I eagerly await your input for further discussion.

So if "Christ decides" then he could populate Heaven with Hindus and
send Catholics to Hell? Or do you think his power is constrained by
certain other things, including the Bible, his teachings, etc. In
other words, He (and God, presumably) are bound to be consistent. They
cannot act in a way that you would find bewildering or capricious.

Someone tuning in to your discussions concerning Noah and the age and
form of the earth might find your position somewhat smug and
self-assured, for example, and cause them to avoid any religion that
might lead to such behavior. Even if you see your actions as being
exactly what God calls you to do, have you ever considered that you
might be wrong?

Unless they aren't. Remember, there were preachers and priests and
such that fervently believed in slavery and quoted scripture to
"prove" that it was God who SPECIFICALLY called the white man to
enslave the black man.

Have you ever changed your belief in "God's will"? In other words,
has your perception of what God wants ever changed? Would you not
categorize certain things you did before as not in tune with what God
wants? Are you sure your perception now will never change?

This is one of the best Daffy Ducky cartoons. In it Earl Weber AKA Duke
(oppps I mean Daffy Duck) is very enthusiastic about the US war effort.
Marching, flag waving and carrying on from the safety of his living room

Let me put it this way. He said he came, not to be served, but TO serve others.
And then he said "follow me". That tells me that lip service doesn't work, but
words with actions. Catholics understand this as our way of life where hindus
may not. So that gives us a leg up as we are in tune with his commands, and
hindu's follow another criteria. So I'll leave it to you to decide for
yourself.

"Follow me" is high in consistency.

When I open my Catholic Study Bible, or google Genesis, both are extremely clear
in exactly those words that Genesis 1-11 is NOT a scientific statement about God
creating the universe and everything in it, but instead a faith statement by
Israel, and written after 2 Kings.

No, his language to "love one another as he loves us" throughout the bible still
stands.

What things? I have consistently pushed the message of "love for one another"
as God's decision maker on salvation ever since I've been on the internet. John

My grandfather was a missionary in India, where my father was born. He
not only "talked the talk," he also "walked the walk." After he
became sick and was given less than a year to live, he was ordered
home by the church and sent back to Kansas, where he (unexpectedly)
recovered and went on to live more than 50 years. I never heard him
"bad-mouth" someone or disparage them. While I do not believe the
same things he did (and neither do you -- he was, after all, a
Protestant), his entire life was made up of acts, rather than just
words. I don't recall his ever saying "Jesus wants--" or something
like that, he would say "Jesus said-," and then go on to explain what
that meant to him. While I am no theologian, that may be the main
difference between Catholics and Protestants, in that Catholics want
someone to tell them how to behave, whereas Protestants are encouraged
to take some personal responsibility as to how they behave. In any
event, I (and probably some others) are a bit puzzled as to how you
can reconcile the charge to "follow Me" with your sometimes harsh and
sharp-tongued responses. (Yeah, I know, "you're only human.")

Duck & Run ran away after we ran scriptural circles around him

And my favorite:

http://tinyurl.com/487vc

This was a cowardly thread Duck & Run opened titled "Budikka Runs Away".
He set this up because he was peeved that he didn't get an instant
response from me in another thread! He never told me he'd opened this
alternate thread, yet he accused me of running away in it! LoL! When we
finally happened across it and challenged him in it, he ran away! How
pathetic is that?!

The best comment from him was in alt.atheism on January 5th, 2004, at
5:46 pm when he said, "I've heard myself say a lot of vocal things, but
I've never heard myself think." (http://tinyurl.com/f48bq). This
explains everything, including why he's such a gashole. All he can do is
impotently snipe at people, since he has nothing of value or intelligence
to say and he demonstrably cannot support a single claim he makes.

He has no proof, no evidence - not even an intelligent argument. He does
not think because he cannot. He's quite loco, and like a loco, he's
stuck on a pair of narrow rails. He has no clue he's on them, let alone
how to get off. And the track to which he's limited leads to a dead end
- which he hilariously thinks is "Heaven"!

The best "evidence" of a god he was ever capable of producing was a
lackluster five items he posted in thread "Scientists find new face on
back of Turin shroud" in a.a. on April 18 2004, 9:52 am:

http://tinyurl.com/c6hkg.

He appears to have appropriated "his" five evidences from Thomas Aquinas
who, c1245, published "Summa theologiae" which contained five "Ways" to
"prove" some god's existence, all of which have been thoroughly
discredited.

He admitted his "own" five ways were nothing but blind belief in alt
atheism in a thread called "The Inquisition" message posted on Saturday,
12 June, 2004 11:52am:

http://tinyurl.com/bc5ud

but that was all he could do after the massive pounding he got.

We used those same five items in a spoof edition of my "Why There is no
God" series (http://tinyurl.com/bz54w). We changed a word here and there
and all of his five "evidences" miraculously became evidence for the non-
existence of a god! Naturally we didn't count them in the 666 since they
were so pathetic.

His comments aren't born of smarts, logic, rational or evidence, they're
born of desperation. Neither are his comments aimed at the material -
they rarely are. He's incapable of having a rational exchange on a
topic. He spits out idiocy and insult and runs away.

His comments are not designed to enlighten, help, or exchange anything,
but to abuse people. He's the very antithesis of this purported
Christian love he's supposed to dispense.

He never documents or supports a single thing he says, whereas the
cowardice and lies of this pathetic hypocrite for Christ have been fully
documented on Usenet. His despicable behavior and his slanderous
unfounded charges (he thinks turning the other cheek means mooning
someone) are why he was mass-plonked by pretty near the entire regular
set on a.a.:

http://tinyurl.com/9gycg

It's a sign of how pathetic he is, how low he's sinking and how desperate
he's become since he was cut off, that he now has to beg for atheists to
talk to him by posting inane rants against us - this from the guy who
claims to be a Christian, who claims to do unto others as he would be
done by, and who lies about turning the other cheek!

His cowardice in "debate" or even discussion is legendary:

1. http://tinyurl.com/ac2vg

2. http://tinyurl.com/4dyok

3. http://tinyurl.com/664yu

4. http://tinyurl.com/apenc

He thinks Christianity, which post-dates Mithraism by seven centuries,
gave rise to Mithraism:

http://tinyurl.com/yzp9bk

He's quite literally astronomically stupid:

http://tinyurl.com/yhyopg

("the same "sky" that's already been looked at."!)

http://tinyurl.com/6fbwqh

He claims he can run rings around anyone on scripture, but when he was
actually taken up directly on this claim:

http://tinyurl.com/3z47u

he ran away!

He has numerous documented lies:

http://tinyurl.com/5zlzx

http://tinyurl.com/ablwm

He regularly demands people open discussions on his god, and when they
do, he runs away. We personally had him run from the *same topic* well
over 100 times in direct response to a challenge *he* made!

He dismally failed the simplest intelligence test imaginable:

http://tinyurl.com/7zm43

He has fifty questions he can't answer or daren't answer honestly here:

http://tinyurl.com/ad89u (October 22nd 2004)

and fifty more here:

http://tinyurl.com/9ky7y (July 16th 2005)

In short, he's a waste of a human being and not worth any response other
than this.

End of Douche. Case closed.

You use the term 'Protestant' as if it represents an homogeneous group
when, if fact, there are tens of thousands of protestant sects with
widely varying ideas regarding the so-called path to salvation. For
every Protestant like your grandfather, there are hundreds who cherry
pick the scriptures to give themselves the authority to loudly condemn
anyone who doesn't follow their particular interpretation. Catholics
tend to accept a more unified approach to religious delusions than
Protestants.

So, you are actively to act oh His behalf, yes?

I'm curious: what are you yourself, Duke, doing to
carry out this active following?

And if your answer is to come here on Usenet and try to
combat such things as abortion and apostasy, do you
think your inevitable mocking, sneering, consescending,
and insulting manner of addressing posters is a good
way to get those teachings across?

Note that I ask this in all seriousness.

Duke's real name is Earl and if you listen to his idea of what the RCC
is you will come away with a mish mash that does not represent The One
True Church and is close to an Evangelical version of the church.

He grew up pre-Vatican II learning by rote from the nuns who learned
it by rote from parish priests, who learned...
His later views seem to come from the charismatic churches that sprung
up after Vatican II.

I suspect he shares Patrick's views that the American Catholic Church
is the One True Church and that those of third worlds (i.e. Australia,
according to Patty,) are not quite proper.

An interesting mistake in the making: "not believe the same things I do".
That's a major mistake on our part. A quick comparison shows that Catholics
follow ALL of the bible, whereas protest_ants are selective.

Gen 1-11 speaks of God creating the universe in 6 days. Is that days in a far
away galaxy? The universe is 13.7 billion years old, earth is 4.5 billion years
old, not 6000 years. The global flood, if there was one, could have happened
anytime in the last 4.5 billion years when Mt. Everest was nothing more than a
speed bump at best.

Gen 1-11 is acknowledged as a introductory statement of faith of God's creation
of all things rather than a scientific statement. These chapters were actually
written after 2 Kings. Basically, the idea of God beginning to interact with
his creation in human beings begins with Abraham who lived is a society where
man sacrificed his own 1st born son to his (g)od for good fortune.

WTS, as an example, is pure garbage mouth fully in support of murdering every

God's will be done. Jesus gave us a new command "that we love one another as he
loves us". John 13:34. Jesus said that the 10 commandments will never go away,
but the new way is to love and obey God and love and serve our fellow man.

That's true only if the evangelical matches up with the Catholic Church in

At worst, it's lighthearted. There are some really ignorant people I respond to

• Like your church, you take the word of two guys, Mark and Luke, who
were not at the Last Supper. The Disciples John and Thomas mention no
wine to blood, bread to flesh miracle at the Last Supper and they were for
damn sure there Duke. The Didache and the Q-Gospel mention it not. The
bottom line is that Jesus/Yeshua was not a "sacrifice" that supposedly
paid for mankind's sins, he was a divine teacher/messenger on a mission.
What constituted His church?
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in
the midst of them"
- - - [Matthew 18:20]
The idea that the RCC is His church does not hold up since the RCC is
rather obviously ruled by corporate ethics.

From the Cath. Encl:

"Nestorius and his followers admitted in Christ one moral person, as a
human society forms one moral person; but this moral person results from
the union of two physical persons, just as there are two natures in
Christ. These two persons are united, not physically, but morally, by
means of grace. The heresy of Nestorius was condemned by Celestine I in
the Roman Synod of A.D. 430 and by the Council of Ephesus, A.D. 431, the
Catholic doctrine was again insisted on in the Council of Chalcedon and
the second Council of Constantinople. It follows that the Divine and the
human nature are physically united in Christ."

Really!! Their writings are not what Jesus told them personally, but what Jesus
taught the people as related by the people that Jesus taught. I thought you
would AT LEAST understood that.

That's because John's gospel is a letter written to others that belief in Jesus
as Son of God and faith in him is the key to life. He was not writing a record
of the last supper. Matthew, Mark and Luke already did that. I thought you
would AT LEAST understand that.

He didn't. If you haven't figured out the cross by now, you are falling behind
rapidly. I thought you would AT LEAST understand that.

Assuming it really happened the way Luke recorded it in the book of
Acts, Jesus Christ said exactly three things to Paul, no more and no less:

1. "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"

2. "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick
against the pricks."

3. "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou
must do."

So don't be a prick, Duke.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. As a former Catholic, you learned nothing - that's obvious.

God created 6 days and rested the 7th day. No body can say which day is the
rest day, or 7th. The Jews picked a day that in the distant future would become
known as Saturday. The Christians picked the day of Resurrection of the Lord.
We Chrisitans have a solid reason for giving God one day in 7. The Jews made
one up.

Better luck next time, which in all probability will never come.

Jesus, as son of man, was raised from the dead by God to show man the way to
salvation in example. Too bad JT can't offer you the same.

The commandment says REMEMBER the Sabbath and KEEP it Holy. When you
pick some other day, that's forgetting the Sabbath and walking all over
it. Which makes my point that Catholics cherry-pick the commandments.

That was 4000 years ago, nominally. Whose calendar do we use? God created for
6 days (maybe on a planet in a nearby galaxy) and then said keep the 7th holy.

You tell me what "day" that is, and I'll confirm that the day of resurrection is
that day if it is.

Not a chance of that - at least for that reason. WE know the day Jesus rose
from the dead. Nobody knows how "Saturday" became the true sabbath with the
mishmash of calendars all screwed up from eons past.

Even when folks went from their ancient lunar calendar to Caesar's solar
calendar, or from that calendar to Gregory's one, it only affected the
numbers of the days. No one ever had to do two Mondays in a row. So
try again.

• Preparing fugu is tricky. The fish must be alive while it is filleted
and the chef must be licensed by the government of Japan. One mistake and
it's RIP. One fugu can kill 30 humans - however the flesh is reportedly
delish. Scrap fugu parts must be burned in an incenerator. Fugu sell
for c. $300 each in Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market.

Actually, no one has EVER seen God. God in the flesh in the person of Jesus
Christ is the closest we've come.

>Exodus 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back

John 1:18 (New International Version)
18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[a]
is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

You really were a very, very weak Catholic, weren't you.

"And the Lord spake to Moses face to face, as
a man speaketh to his friend." (EXO 33:11)

"For I have seen God face to face, and my life
