What did this post have to do with alcoholism or recovery?

Sure, Frank.

Think that would do any good, with his continual nym-shifting?

It just struck me as rich that ex complains about people "using ARAA as a
chat room," and for "off-topic" posts.

And just how long did it take to mark 17 OT posts in threads started by ex,
under his ex nym? Mebbe 10 minutes, tops.

I doubt very much you could come anywhere close to that with any other
poster on ARAA.

I'm really just pushing his nose in it a bit, not that I think it would
really ever do any good.

I suppose we could start up a round of ex-Bingo . . . it might be
entertaining, if nothing else.

I have a filter that keys on "Ex-AA" and nothing else and it works just
fine. Now if everyone else wouldn't keep quoting him...

I've had no trouble. Maybe that's because he gets enough action without
change but I'm up for multiple changes.

Guess I missed that. ;)

How long to change or add a filter? Few seconds (that includes temp
filters on subject lines).

No you are not Rob - you are giving him that which he desires - attention
and pi55ing the rest of us off in the meantime.

To destroy a troll, you ignore him/her/it.

If you want to filter him just filter on "where the from line contains
'Ex-AA forever'

You, and the others that reply to him, would really be doing the newsgroup
as a whole a favour, plus cutting down on rubbish.

Its so simple to filter, that I'm amused at how few people will do it - yet
complain endlessly about what their eyes behold :-)

Filtering people is a form of self censorship. Those who can't refrain from
replying or looking at those that have power over them use filters.

There are several people on this group I don't read. The scrollbar works

One of the reasons I was fortunate to be born ugly ... I didn't have
to grow into it. But I agree experience can make a difference. Like
LaRocca I've had a few cheerleaders, but it has always been 20,30, 40

As you and Gary say, Tommy.

I'll do my best.

I suppose what bothers me most about him is that he CAN post
worthwhile stuff . . . that post about becoming a bartender was really
interesting, even if it was all a lie. Why WOULD it matter to anyone
in AAif he chose to do that, even if he WERE an active AA?

But instead of the interesting stuff he sometimes posts, he posts all
this other nonsense.

He's becoming predictable, too. mOne negative comment from me, and
we're back to "priests are child molesters."

Ah, well.

I probably won't filter, as the easiest thing is GG, but I'll try to
put him inmmy mental killfile.

That might explain why a tornado can kill 20 people, but some choose to
focus on the 3 that lived, calling it a miracle, rather than luck.

"Rob D."

He's becoming predictable, too. mOne negative comment from me, and
we're back to "priests are child molesters."

Ah, well.

I probably won't filter, as the easiest thing is GG, but I'll try to
put him inmmy mental killfile.

Rob

You're probably too nice a guy for usenet Rob -
No need to explain that those sitting behind an anonymous keyboard can be a
superhero or a serial killer (and all things in between) in their own minds

I find it all to easy to get caught up, forgetting that it isnt real - none
of it is real.
I'm also blessed, in that I've met so many of our gang, and some of them
have met 'the others' - makes me feel I'm acquainted with their personality.

Its a terrible pity for the afflicted ones like Ex.. He could fit in and
whats more there are many here who would actually give him genuine help.
I've seen so many offers of help being extended, some even financial.

It makes me sad sometimes to see what is such a benefit to those w ho are
sick and incapacitated, who don't get out much, who may not be great mixers,
or who just can't afford much more than internet access - and to see it
being destroyed by scumbags with little else to do

Cheers
Tommy

A quitcherbitchin. :-)

I just use ex in my filter. He seems to use that, no matter what else
he changes.

At least I assume he's a he. We've only ever had one woman behave like
that on a.r.aa and that was years ago.

Easy enough to avoid him when you want. Land on one of his posts and
hit the 'T' key - before it's even done loading you are off to the next
thread.

No way. Orange may be a kook, but he's not mentally defective.

Nope. Don't know why, but this latest Mozilla Seamonkey download, seems
to grasp what I'm telling it to do.

Next thing I know, it's going to start yelling "Feed me!" It'll be
"Little Shop of Horrors" all over again - 'cept with a computer.

Kooks /can/ be merely colorful..., eccentric. This place is crawling
with eccentrics but most of them (us) are just a little senile. :)
