This poster is a member of the Google Group "Alcoholics Anonymous" and
strangely does not act out in that group yet here he conducts himself
like a juvenile on a sugar high. His name is Jon Markle and he lives
in Raleigh NC.
I see also our ex pal Mikey hangs his hat there and he too seems to
conduct himself completely unlike his carrying on while visiting
here.
We do seem to bring the weird out in some folk.
The Markle character apparently forgot the slogan Live and Let Live.
Prayer services for him will take place this evening at 11pm.
Meanwhile , Charlie and Ken, being our cyber genii, you may want to
exercise some computer magic on the doofus should he persist his
pestiness. I am sure you know how to seriously fuck him up
electronically.
Real recovery is brutal honesty.
God is a piece of shit. Holy moley here comes one now.
I think it's the Orange Peckers guy...

Fuck him up for what Mike? Being a juvenile on a sugar high? Because
someone on ARAA finds them offensive. Because of the stature I might
think I would gain prestige and ego wise, by outing or exposing someone
for doing something that is entirely within their rights, and as far as
I know being critical of a Usenet newsgroup and the opinions voiced on
it by the various participants and the manner in which they conduct
themselves and the behavior they display in the participation thereon,
is pretty damn dicey to slice thin enough to find illegality in it.
You or anyone who has the ability to get to ARAA by means of an
electronic device, has/have the means and ability to *fuck* *them* *up*
*electronically* by way of *properly* configuring the electronic device
you use to only allow yourselves to see what you are capable of seeing
comfortably, should you forget or have never been made aware that *live*
and *let* *live* is a two way street. If you are too inept or computer
challenged to configure your own computer, you might work on simply
ignoring, overlooking, or *just* *not* *reading* or *replying* to them
or that which offends you.
A person called HB posted here not too long back and in doing so
received a lot of negative, reactive ridicule and flack along with some
positive, thought out responses:
"How I stay sober? I concentrate on continuing to take personal
inventory...and if I'm disturbed by something, instead of immediately
reacting, I try to start with how my butt feels in the chair or my
feet feel on the ground and then scan my immediate environment to see
if I'd better move or get squashed. If not, then I check my breathing,
which, if things aren't feeling right is usually shallow.
Breathing slower and holding the breath in when I feel like blowing it
out helps a lot to restore the blood gases to the right balance and I
can then think rationally...rather than reacting. After doing a little
more inventory, I can take things one step at a time after
that...asking myself "Why am I disturbed? Why am I irritated? Why do I
feel that a reaction is urgent?" Usually the answer is that no
reaction is necessary...("Don't just do something, sit there." as my
friend in Borneo says...) - and usually I can find the answers inside
me...AA has taught me how to do inventory and find the "fear" at the
root of disturbances.
So, that helps me stay sober rather than drinking to relieve these
feelings of discomfort that often have their origin in a lack of
acceptance of conditions as they are.
Now, if I get that far...I can use prayer and meditation in this
process...and then with my spiritual condition sorted...appropriate
responses can be made to the world and the people and things in it.
Finally, I can reach out my hand to help others...listening to what
they have to share with compassion and patience. I can try to help
another alcoholic. I can put into practice "First Things First" -
"Easy Does It" and "Live and Let Live"...and life goes really
smoothly!"
The above sounds like like a hell of a lot of shit to have to go through
each time we become irritated doesn't it? ;-)
But Mike, if you *practice* *practice* *practice* at it, you may
eventually come to the point where you might come to respond
intelligently with the same rapidity as you now seem to react
instinctively and....
Sheesh, I dunno, you may find yourself like I'm coming to realize I do
more and more often these days with practice and the passage of time..
..with my spiritual condition sorted... seeingly *sometime* making
appropriate responses to the world and the people and things in it
It works if I work *at* it. At least for me anyway...
Some days...
I think...
Well, perhaps as I see myself, but perhaps not in the eyes of my
observers... ;-)
Oh well, back to the Barre. ;-)

>YOU SURE GOT PUT IN YOUR PLACE BY HIM. HA HA HA HA!
I thought you were out of here ... that this place didn't have
anything to offer. Hah ha!
If that is the only thing you were capable of *seeing* or *interpreting*
in the post, it is understandable how and why you have been incapable of
seeing or finding anything pertaining to recovery, AA, or living life
free of both alcohol and the *ims of alcoholism here on ARAA.
May I suggest a simple exercise for you. Get a piece of paper and a
pencil, and sit down OK. Keeping in mind that in the following quote,
"...people, institutions or principle..." can be interpreted by anyone
with even a modicum of reading comprehension, to mean, "People, Places
and Things."
<quote from Alcoholics Anonymous, Chapter 5. How It Works>
Resentment is the "number one" offender. It destroys more alcoholics
than anything else. From it stem all forms of spiritual disease, for we
have been not only mentally and physically ill, we have been spiritually
sick. When the spiritual malady is overcome, we straighten out mentally
and physically. In dealing with resentments, we set them on paper. We
listed people, institutions or principle with who we were angry. We
asked ourselves why we were angry. In most cases it was found that our
self-esteem, our pocketbooks, our ambitions, our personal relationships,
(including sex) were hurt or threatened. So we were sore. We were
"burned up."
On our grudge list we set opposite each name our injuries. Was it our
self-esteem, our security, our ambitions, our personal, or sex
relations, which had been interfered with?
We were usually as definite as this example:
I'm resentful at: The cause Affects my:
ARAA (whatever) (whatever)
(individuals on ARAA) (whatever) (whatever)
</quote from Alcoholics Anonymous, Chapter 5. How It Works>
Be aware though the above is not for the *faint* of *heart* nor those
who are incapable of swallowing and digesting some big chunks of truth
about themselves.
I've often heard this is he phase of the steps that separates the *men*
from the boys.

Strange. All I see at present, in this post, is what appears to be a
*jerk* intent on putting others down. You seem to be well up on that
compared to the rest.
Best wishes on your quest.

John Prine tune....
People without love - sometimes build a fence around
The garden up above - that makes the whole world go 'round
But all the people who don't fit
Get the only fun they get
From people puttin' people down
People puttin' people down
So cold, sometimes it gets so cold
>ALL I SEE IS JERKS PUTTING EACH OTHER DOWN. YOU HAVE A WAY TO GO TO

No... he's way ahead of us! His classic 1st basemans mitt put down put
him into the Hall of Fame! :) I still chuckle about it whenever I
think about it.
Would prolly been best or wise to have just left that sleeping or dead
dog lie, but since you brought it up...
I never thought of it as much of a put down Tex. That wasn't my aim nor
intention. My aim was to *hit* a 60d 9 inch nail square enough with a 29
oz. Vaughn, waffle head rig ax, hard enough to sink the whole SOB up to
the head in one whack. In other words, simply to *hit* *a* *nail* *on*
*the* *head*
Some might call it calling a spade a spade.
CC
Yes, even I at the time agreed and still do ... that it wasn't an
attack or a put down ...I don't recall exactly how I termed it, but I
saw it as a punch or counter punch as the case may be in a skirmish __
it only rates classification as a put down in the sense it was such a
punch or knock of the hammer if you will .... that drove the 'nail'
home as you put it. And if I recall even though it brought out ire in
one gender specifically it for sure drove the nail thru both planks of
genders. Even had I been one of the planks, which I wasn't in this
instance, I would still have to rate it a most excellent swing of the
hammer. :) A stance on a personal level I have held since I stumbled
into this 'cesspit' and started exchanging keyboard rivets... Hah ha
I'll let that dog lie. :)
What ranks it a put down and gets you into the Hall of Fame isn't that
it's a put down ... rather the fact it's not ... and yet does more
towards what a put down is suppose to do than any put down could
possibily do....drives the nail home in one mighty blow as you put it!
Now having explained myself out of the corner to my own personal
satisfaction which in reality might not have gotten me out of the
corner ... I can say CJH doesn't have a clue as to what is or isn't a
put down and I choose to describe your classic in his misunderstood
understanding, all for the sake of attempting to communicate with him
on his level. As one who is rarely understood and has no ability to
understand I thought it was rather understanding of me, evidently I
have been misunderstood once again or I'm being understood and I
continue not to understand. :)
Hadn't thought too much about the episode in long time until Dave and
LaRocco reopened it recently. ;-)
Once I'd become mired in it, curiosity had got the best of me, and I
wasn't able to resist doing a lot of behind the scenes sleuthing to try
to unravel the etiology of how all the feces happened.
Sheesh! Enough material for a decent Novel in it. Don't know how
believable the characters would be, to quote Frank, in a real life
portrayal, and don't know how many *real* people in world are capable of
understanding or even believing the *net* *nature* 'nd I guess for lack
of better word or words, the *chimerical* existence some denizens find
them selves dwelling in. Whole damn thing gets kid of surrealistic to
say the least.
May just be best to "Not go there."

The go bare ,,, just take the long walk....it will cool you off! Hah
ha! Can't suggest you take a cold shower ... it would take too long to
melt the ice!
