'I'm so sad about what happened to her'

The 19-year-old man targeted in a Bronx shooting that left
Vada Vasquez with a bullet in her head described Friday the
terrifying moments before a teen gunman opened fire on him.
Tyrone Creighton said he nervously watched a gun get passed
among five gangbangers before it landed in the hands of a
16-year-old identified as Carvett Gentles. "And then [he]
put his hood on, turned around & started walking toward us,"
Creighton told the News. "When I saw him coming at me,
I knew they were trying to kill me."
Creighton tried to flee the reputed gang members, but was
shot once in the back and once in the shoulder. And one
stray bullet slammed into Vada's skull as she walked home
from school Monday, leaving her fighting for her life.
Vada, 15, was taken off a ventilator yesterday but still is
in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital. "I'm so sad about
what happened to her," Creighton said. "I feel terrible.
She's innocent, like I'm innocent. "I'm speaking out because
that little girl deserves justice."
The 5 suspects - Gentles; Rohan Francis, 18; Cleve Smith, 20;
Clivie Smith, 19, and Dwayne Taylor, 23 - were tossed into
jail Thursday on attempted murder charges. Investigators
believe they targeted Creighton over a Rikers Island beef
between an inmate gang member and one of his brothers.
A day after he left the hospital, Creighton gave the most
detailed account yet of the shooting. The day, he said,
began with the best possible news. Creighton met with his
lawyer in the Bronx & was told that attempted murder charges
against him stemming from a July shooting were going to be
dropped. "I told him it was his lucky day," lawyer Martin
Galvin said. Creighton's luck didn't last long.
Creighton said he popped into a deli on Home St. when he was
confronted by a man he knew from the neighborhood, Clivie
Smith, 18. "He said, 'Whatever happened between my man and
your brothers, let's [settle] it,'" Creighton, his right arm
in a sling, recalled. "I didn't know what he was talking about."
Smith followed Creighton outside. Creighton said he noticed
four menacing-looking men glaring at him from up the block.
He recognized them from the neighborhood, except Gentles.
As Smith continued to harass him, Creighton said he spotted
Taylor try to hand a gun to Francis. Francis already had one,
pulling out the handle from his pants to prove it.
Francis, Gentles' uncle, then passed him his .40-caliber gun,
Creighton said. Fearing for his life, Creighton pushed Clivie
Smith into Gentles and sped off. Creighton said Gentles fired
at least five shots, with one puncturing his lung. "I'm angry
people tried to make me feel like it's my fault," Creighton
said. "I don't know why these guys did this to me."

charges were dropped. What a crazy world he lives in. My silly
son thinks his best day is Mcdonalds for lunch, pizza for
dinner, and Xbox instead of chores. Now the Bronx D.A.'s
office will put a suit and tie on this loser and make him
out to be the ultimate victim.

Ceelos,His arm wasn't in a sling when the fight/shooting
occurred. It was in a sling when he was interviewed, talking
to the reporter. Learn to read. Look at the modifying words,
punctuation marks & the tense of the verbs used. Think about
what you see on the page. If the facts are as he stated, he is
innocent. Innocent of this event or situation. He may not be
innocent of all wrongdoings, but here he is in the clear.
She was an innocent bystander. He was a target.

I hope Vada Vasquez makes a full recovery. As for the intended
target, what exactly was the nature of the shooting he was
involved in? This is another good reason not to get involved
with a violent way of life. People who do so tend to end up
shot or stabbed. And sometimes so do the innocent bystanders.

It may very well be that Creighton didn't know what the other
person was talking about. Rikers officials said they have no
record of any altercation between Creighton's brothers and
another inmate(s) on the date in question. Granted they don't
know about 90 percent of what goes on there, but if the
incident was sizable enough to generate a CO's attention
Creighton would be aware of it. He's not an angel by any
manner of means, but these other murderous fools who think
their manhood is measured by notches on guns & babymommas
they knock up & walk away from are considerably less deserving
of a fair shake than this kid (which as far as I'm concerned
he still is at 19).

first of all TYRONE IS NO ASPIRING RAPPER! 2nd of all
the murder charges against him from my understanding stems
from a fight he had with another boy his age. they fought
with their hands and the other boy lost. and tried to shoot
tyrone. and tyrone defended himself accordingly. hence the
attempted murder charges against him were going to be dropped.
3rd of all. no tyrone didnt have to know his brothers had a
fight with other guys on rikers island. as his brothers are
in solitary right now and they themselves didnt even know
about the shooting until the shooting. YOU FUGGING PEOPLE

that something must have gone wrong for him. until my nephew

.....More examples of why criminals must be locked up for
long years and not let out until they serve their complete
sentence. Violent criminals (rape, murder, attempted murder,
major assault) should be executed within two years with no
appeals after the first 21 months. This should be in the US
Constitution. DUI's should be sent to jail for at least six
months and one year or more in prison for repeats.
