Actually my go around hasn't hit last as of yet.... I've been twice
now and have to go back in Jan. It's a long one ...and I am now full
of hope I get booted ... I must have been crazy thinkin' I wanted to
get picked!

I forget how many times I've been called since I got undrunk and have
stayed in one place long enough to be found. Seems to run in cycles
though go for a couple of years and it seems I'm getting summoned every
six months or so and then maybe go a couple of years with none. I've got
enough physical infirmities to be taken off the list permanently, but
been procrastinating on just taking the time to sit down and mail in the
paper work to the County Clerk. We have got to be on an almost first
name basis, since I normally just call and she takes me off for that
particular summons.
Were you able to get in any golfing over the weekend? Would have been
pretty weekend for it here had it not been for the biting wind.

CJM wouldn't recognize it as recovery ...AA or otherwise...but no
...X-mas day I awoke with sweats and side ache... sure enough another
chip... 3 days of groaning...last night passed it and today back to
normal...so no golf this last weekend.
I didn't have to drink a pint to ease the pain nor take a bunch of
dope ....at the same time I didn't have to bother god and turn it over
to him either ... I just had to use my experience and wait it out ...
if it passed (as it did) it's over ... if it hadn't then off to the
doc. But that's not recovery? Would it be recovery had I said:
I woke up in pain, knowing from AA, we grow thru pain. So, I embraced
it and repeated the serenity prayer backwards 300 times, turned it
over to God, then hopped into the car and went down to the nearest AA
meeting ...and told them how wonderful sobriety is and how you know
pain it optional and I decided not to have it. Would that be
acceptable *recovery* ? That might have been look good
bullshit...reality would be me saying ...Fuck me! (without the pity
pot) realizing trying to golf would be nuts. Realizing I had my own
ESH to get me thru... I've had them before (E) I can wait them out or
seek treatment (S) and apply AA in the sense this too shall pass //
one way or the other (H).
It amazes me how people who claim to be alkies can't see or recognize
lay in your own puke & shit people talkin' about jury duty what with
needing a driver's license or voting to get into the pool can't see
recovery ... can't see and picture the footwork that was put into
place to become a citizen once again ... unless it's voiced in the
simple basic language of AA mechanics.
