I am new to geocachiong. I have been wanting to get involved by purchasing a GPS unit that works well with geocaching. At the same time I need a new cell phone. I hear the i-phone works well but you pay extra to get turn by turn GPS service. The Motorola Droid has turn by turn for free............ I have never bought a new GPS receiver from a store. I prefer to pay for used equipment online. That said, I have bought two Meridian GPS units and each of them last two or three years before konking out.
