Is there a newsgroup, site or blog, etc. where GPS hardware is discussed?
I'm in the market for a new GPS, but the choices are confusing.

#Tons of threads on the geocaching forums about GPSr's.

Still looking for threads, but I haven't found much. Any suggestions?

#What are you looking for in a GPS? Paperless features? Wireless transfers?
#Touch screen?

None of those are "deal killers", but I would prefer paperless. Currently,
the pocket queries are loaded into either an ipad or android tablet. It
would be nice to skip that step and not need those devices along. Wireless
is preferred over wired. Touch screen? I'm comfortable with either. And
the screen needs to be reasonably bright.

I do prefer AA batteries, as most of my travel gadgets run on AAs and AAs
can be bought even in small stores all over the world. But the features I
want may not be available in a AA powered device.

#Personally, I prefer the Garmin GPSMap 62S over all others I've
#owned (Garmin Legend, GPSMap 60CSx, Oregon 400T, Oregon 550T) The Legend
was
#just a cheap starter for me that really isn't the best for geocaching, the
#GPSMap 60CSx was probably the best geocaching GPS I ever had until I picked
up
#he 62s, the Oregon's are a nice fad but I just hated the poor menu layout
and
#the touch screens are horrible. In fact, I ended up so frustrated with my
#Oregon 550T, that I actually punched it. Ended that geocaching day...
Traded
#it in for my 62s the same day. I still keep my 60CSx as a backup but the 62
#has been great! A few minir inconveniences with the distance readout in
#Geocaching active dashboards but if garmin can fix that.... :-)

Thanks for the rundown. Since getting a NUVI 755T for the car a few years
back, I've been using an old eMap for geocaching. That replaces a Legend
that I still have, but I've never liked the display.

Also for geocaching, I still occasionally use "Old Yeller"....an old eTrex
that survived 4 months of riding snuggled up next to a SUV roof rack
(including a few trips to the do it yourself carwash), but didn't survive
getting run over by a Chev Suburban. However, I like it and Garmin repaired
it for less than the cost of a new one. (Actually, I think they sent me a
new one)

I'll keep looking on the web, and give the 62s a look.

Thanks
Wayne

I have Magellan GC, and a Magellan 610 which seem good, the GC for
backup. The 610 went bad after two days of use, but they replaced it
in 2 days without a hassle. It is not wireless, but has more features
than I can use, who needs an altimeter in S. Florida, the highest
point down here is Seven Mile Bridge, maybe 75 ft. I am just a
beginner though, but I have dropped the GC twice without hurting it,
and then put a wide neck strap on the 610.
