Does anyone have experience with the Colorado 300 for caching? It seems
to be designed for it but I would like to know:

a) There seem to be concerns that a 'cache found' feature is missing.
Does that mean that it does not remember whether a certain cache was
found? That does not sound like a big thing for me right now, but
when more caches are found in a place that could add to the
confusion.

b) Similar, there does not seem to be a 'next cache' feature. What is
that intended to do? Simply find the nearest unfound cache?
there still is a 'find waypoints near to current location' mode, right
that could be used for that (modulo the found/unfound status)?

c) Does the cache-info displayed include any pictures? As those are not
included in the GPX files, I gather not if one just stores the pocket
query files. Is there then some process that 'spiders' the relevant
pictures from the net for the installed caches? Since this will be used
with a MAC (10.3!), that should work on that OS instead of Windows.

d) I don't think the Colorado has any form of WLAn to connect to a
hotspot to be able to access the geocaching.com site (and to download
pictures, latest files etc) directly? Nor BT?

e) Can one download single cache descriptions into this (incl pictures)
somehow, or is one required to use pocket query files?

thanks
M

This feature has been added in firmware updates.

Once you mark a cache as found you have the option to go to the nearest
cache.

The cache info doesn't contain pictures. There is an image viewer on the
Colorado but I havent explored how to obtain and view cache pictures, in
fact I haven't used the Colorado's image viewer at all.

No WLAN, it has the ability to send information wirelessley to other
Colorados but not connect to WLANs.

You can download single caches, by clicking the 'GPX eXchange File' button
on the cache page (only available to Premium Members, I think) but again,
it won't include pictures.

There appear to be lots of people unhappy with the Colorado but I love mine.
The only problem I have with it is that I have to carry a couple of spare
sets of batteries because they don't last long at all. Apart from that,
I'm happy with it.

Phil.

Id agree with the last post.
Ive had a Colorado since February,
I love it.
Agree with the Battery consumption too.
I have a Garmin 60c Before and the only other feature the Colorado
appears to be missing is the Proximity Circle feature
