How many cell phones are *not* windows based??? I know of one, a
Nokia 770/800/810 (well ok, that actually three) that runs Linix. The
770 and 800 include a bluetooth interface which can be used with an
external GPSr and will run a GPS program. The 810 includes a GPSr and
will also run any Linux based GPS program.
I seriously doubt that you will find a cell phone that includes a GPS
application that doesn't depend on using bandwidth through the cell
phone company. That would not suit their business model (taking as
much of your money as possible and putting it into their pockets!) So
you will have to use a "smart" cell phone that runs an open OS.
BTW, I was all hot to buy a Nokia 770 or 800 until I read up on them.
Both the 770 and 800 are hard to see outdoors. The 810 has a better
display, but it is around $400 while the others are more like $120 or
less.
