Does it put you off placing caches?

That's twice now where we have researched a location, made up a cache with
interesting items and it has only lasted 1 or 2 finds before being destroyed
by a random whoknowswhatorwho.

So we won't use that location again.

I wonder if this why people have started using more mini 35mm containers -
but they are not much fun for children to find.

Hi,
None of mine have been muggled by humans - can't say the same for sharp
toothed, long tailed, non-humans however. I convert the container to glass
and steel - so far its beaten the buggers,
Cheers,
Dan

The 2nd cache I put out (of 2 the same day) had lots of problems. I did not
have the W coordinate correct so cachers quickly notified me they didn't
find it.

I then contacted my reviewer to correct that coordinate and it took him 3
days to post the correction.

Then the cache was muggled. I got another 2 notes it was gone.

Then my reviewer retracted my cache within 12 hours of the correction
because those 2 people did not find it. Included was a nasty note that
noone had found that cache for 3 months;-(

2 hours after those notes for no finds, I replaced the cache. I came back
to notify all that it had been replaced, but could not.

2 more days passed before reviewer reset cache.

Finally I have some finds!

Basically, though with muggles:

I have tried to include info that this is a geocache and go to the website
to learn more. In the meantime, please leave it there for others to find.
I did ask in my geo writeup if people can suggest better locations to avoid
muggling. One did suggest a micro on a string in a tiny hole; I hope not to
do that but too much muggling may make that necessary
I do expect to replace the cache in a high muggle area frequently. That
particular one is in a location I go by 4-5 times / week for other reasons.

Thanks

I can't say anything about your cache as I don't know what size it is
or how it is hidden. I find that it can be hard to hide a cache in an
area where a lot of muggles frequent. In that case, it is good to
warn cachers to take care not to attract muggles as they seek the
cache. I put one in the middle of a concrete park that is very busy
most weekends. I found one of the few bushes and put a small lock n
lock container under it where it is very unlikely to be found. Big
enough to hold some swag but not so large it cant' be hidden.

I don't know what to say about the reviewers. They are volunteers and
have limited time to manage their areas. I think they are often
overwhelmed by their job and end up being a bit rude if not downright
insulting. I know I've been offended more than once by a reviewer and
that is part of why I have little interest in caching these days.

But if you like the sport, ignore the rude people, both within the
sport and outside the sport. There is a lot to enjoy in this game.
