Has anyone camped out on Utah's Lake Powell shoreline (from a boat)?
Looking to know if there are any designated campsites or if you can camp
anywhere -- any information at all that would be helpful. Jim

Hi

Answering your question from the opposite end, as it were; in June
this year, my wife and I rented a houseboat on Lake Powell for a few
days, so didn't actually need a tent - we slept on the boat.

I didn't notice many designated campsites (or groups of tents
indicating a campsite) except near marinas, but did however notice
that quite a few moored boats had a tent pitched on the beach
overnight.

Also, a quick Google search for<"Lake Powell" Camping> revealed the
following (at <http://www.utah.com/lakepowell/>

Boat Camping
Boat camping is available to anyone that pays the entrance fee into
the National Recreation Area. Boat campers must have their own toilet
facilities. Developed public campgrounds are located at each marina,
and elsewhere on the lake. There is a fee to stay at developed
campgrounds. Campfires are permitted but all ashes and refuse must be
carried out.

Regards

Anyone have experience camping on Lake Powell shoreline ( especially in
September ) ? I'd like any hints on weather, availability of firewood,
anything at all that might be useful. Jim
