Just ordered a Coleman propane stove and lantern. I plan to use the
1.25lb cylinders for a while. Where do you buy them (US) at the best
price?

You can get them just about anywhere. Try Walmart they are as
reasonable as anyone else.

Yes Walmart is good also try Sams Club or Costco if you have a
membership to either of those. You can buy them in quantity at a good
price.

OUCH!

Those little one pound bottles are EXPENSIVE!

If you decide to use this stove long-term, then spring for the "bulk
adapter hose" that adapts to a standard propane bottle - then go get a
20 pound bottle like the ones that hook up to the BBQ. 20 pound is the
most common size, and therefore the least expensive.

I find I can't get through breakfast with one of those little bottles.

Where I live, one of those ONE POUND bottles is running about $4! You
can get them down to $3 if you buy a 3 pack.

Compare this to a 20 pound fill of propane at a bulk fill dealer for
about $12!!!

Oh, and to keep costs DOWN, avoid the bottle "exchange" rip-off! It
costs you $40+ to get in and $20 to exchange for a full bottle!

The tanks usually go on sale for about $25 and are good for 10 years!
When you get 20 pounds fir $12.... it does not take long before the
entire set-up pays for itself.

Look in the yellow pages for companies that MAKE propane hoses and
sell propane fittings. These are the companies that the "retailers"
buy from. Retail for an adapter hose can be as high as $50 at a
"hardware" store, and avarage $30. The same hose can usually be had at
the correct "supply" store for $15 or LESS.

Happy camping!

:)

I get the Ozark brand cylinders at my local Wal-Mart, and usually stock up
on a dozen when they are on special.

I get 3 BBQ sessions on my little Weber Propane grill on one bottle.

A bulk tank with a lantern tree is a very useful addition if you are going
to be in one place for more than a couple of days.

There is also an adapter that can be purchased at Cabelas that fits onto the
20-lb cylinder and refills the small 16-oz bottles you mentioned. It costs
about $20.
