No, it's not the Fourth Reich that I'm waiting for, but rather the
example Germany displays in QUALITY OF LIFE and BICYCLING, something
that concerns me the most. The other two models --sadly most
prevalent-- are America and China, which dominate the Globalization, a
concept that divides people in WINNERS & LOSERS, in which cyclists and
pedestrians are mere accidents in the design. Success is measured in
SUVs and Gated Communities.

Anyway this is a pretty video of Berlin:

The German people should be particularly proud to have placed
themselves at the top of the world in a few decades, perhaps because
they have taken democracy seriously. I think even the AUSTERITY they
promote should be welcomed, which should put an end to "dumping money
down the drain" into road maintenance and landscaping, so prevalent
around my community. We need more bike facilities, not more grass.

But that's only my humble opinion.

Only because I don't play the game. But this game has no real winners.
In the end China and America will either fight over resources or the
extra pollution will tip the balance toward climate change much
sooner. Expect gas prices to keep spiraling up as China gets hungrier.
Those are the good news.

Sorry, but wisdom doesn't come in cookies. Reality sinks in as the
Wisdom of the Jungle prevails.

I try to see the complete picture: China and Europe share control over
Africa, America and Europe share Latin America, and Germany exercises
a strong influence over Europe. It doesn't need to conquer Europe
anymore.

But Europe is an entity unlike any other. It allows the free movement
of people and roaming free is part of the freedom package. That's what
I try to do with my bike at the community level but I can't.

I love this saying: ACT LOCALLY, THINK GLOBALLY.

That was an episode in history. The German people prove that the
jungle makes the monkey, not the monkey makes the jungle. It was the
gorilla who drove Germans into a frenzy, but they are wary of alpha
males nowadays. Not so Americans...

Human psychology is that most people ignore evil until it affects
them. I've been chatting with this old Jewish lady --educated and
nice-- and she fails to see the evil in denying space to pedestrians
and cyclists. I can only go so far and then she goes back to,
"probably they ignore it," or "too few cyclists to make a change," or
"everyone wants to live in America." That's the old patriotic line.
America is #1 no matter what.

But we can be sure that injustice doesn't stop at denying space to
cyclists. I'd say denying universal healthcare is the big one. And
it's closely to related to cycling and walking since these fall under
the category of prevention.

Roaming free and healthcare are basic human rights. Period.
