I don't know what they'll do if you respond, but they do ask for
feedback.
The scene in Cleveland is progressing. It was really happening about
a year ago. There were places to hear techno at least four nights a
week. It died a bit over the fall, but it is once again gaining strength.
Many guest DJs from various places and different acts come to town. Most
of the scene is still in the clubs, but there have been a few private
parties. The people who are into it are really into it, so I see loads
of room for potential growth. Most places keep going until 4am, so atleast
I get my fill of dancing.
If anyone is coming to Cleveland and needs some info...Please let me
know!
Smiling pretty,

> Just wondering if the rave scene has hit anywhere outside of California yet?
There have been a couple of attempts at raves here in Albuquerque. I haven't
gone to any of them, and the word from people who have is that they sucked
in a really major way (the usual culprits: greed and not living up to the
pre-show hype -- they've also all been [as far as I know] under-21 shows,
to which I say BUUAAAHAHAHAHAHA no way!).
If I had a few $K I'd see about doing one up right.

"Oh YEAH, buddy? Conformally map THIS!"
Last night, I went to one in El Paso, Texas...
It was in a warehouse... it was alright... nitro-shots for $2 (waste)
I also go to them in Phoenix, and they're worse there.

o What's wrong with under-21 raves? That's the way it should be, unless you're
loving hanging out with old played-out farts in an above-ground setting with
oodles of beer. That's my idea of a good time. NOT.
o What is a nitro-shot? A nitrous balloon? $2.00 is cheap for good quality
N2O. We charge $5 for huge latex baloons of medical grade and people have
not complained one bit.
Oh, also, there's a rave scene in Chicago that's starting up. It looks like
we have four promoters now. They're really high budget shows and have all
the energy of an LA party before commercialism. It's looking really good
here. The last decent show we had was with 850 people, 4 intellibeams, a
16K sound wall, a moon bounce, a water-cooled laser, Adam X of NY DJing
for a while, and a hell of a lot of fun. My only complaint is that people
didn't want to pay $15 at the door, which is really cheap of them. Oh well.

As opposed to hanging out in the middle of a big-haired teenybopper pose-
fest and fashion show? No thanks . . .

You fail to address the over 21 leather-coat wearing prim and proper posing
bar crowd, much in the same vein as the teeny-bopper crowd, who would be more
apt to go knowing that a rave party would be an over-21 event, to try to be
"hip with the scene" as they often try to be. The new thing amongst these
cretins is a very stiff Vanilla Ice like MC Hammer dance move. It's funny.
In any case, the whole point of a rave is to be innovative, free, open and
countercultural. With alcohol and an over-21 age restriction, how can ya
be like that? All the over 21 pseudoraves I've ever been to have been a
bunch of confused adults with a few people who were cool in their low or
mid 20s and a bunch of kids with fake IDs having a good time.
