If you know someone in the business already rapping, GREAT.
If not... its the hardest industry to get in today! Toronto has the best
underground hiphop-scene right now... but only now are artists getting
signed. For sure... Easy for a rock or pop artist to get a record deal. Just
pop up and do your sh*t or a demo. Just look at all these silly artists like
Leanne Rhymes, Billy Ray Cyrus, Spice Girls, etc. But for a rap artist? Its
a struggle. The best rappers are not getting signed!!! Its a fact everyone
trying to break in the industry (like myself) knows already.
If theirs still white people jumping to here puffy... or pathetic artists
like MA$E, none will ever want to here the intelligent emcee like KRS-ONE,
CHUCK-D, etc. (WHO BOTH TEACH HIPHOP CLASSES IN HARDVARD, COLUMBUS, YALE,
etc.) Although mainstream rappers like MC-Hammer (Album due 1999) and Puffy
expand rap world-wide... and giving a lot of others a chance to be heard,
their are for now ruining the state of rap.
More read... I saw a person saying "no instrumental skills required to
preform rap". Well... obviously you don't read or pay attention. I would
like to hear some of you anti-rap people emcee.. or freestyle (or in your
terms... rap non-rehearsed lyrics instantley) for over 2 hours like some
professional rappers (emcess's) do at "Lyricist Lounge" or so... and as for
scratching or being an turntablist... its the most hardest instrument to
play... Now offically outselling guitars by millions... and being reconized
by mainsteam artists... its being used all over the world more than any
other musical instrument!
Come on now... I have read a lot of the messages in here and their all
pretty pathetic. 99% of you all don't have a clue what Hiphop is or REALLY
studied it. All I see when I come in here are messages like "HEY
MAIN!!WUTUPMAINZ" "hate, hate, hate.." Laughing at the Homies again" "How To
Become A Rapper" and others made by anti-rap people claiming their
intelligent and endure questions fully to represent the very newsgroup THEY
LIVE ON!!! I mean LIVE ON! Get a live! Honestly think, as I come here for
88% pure comedy, do you really have nothing to do other than talk to other
people about how you hate something???
As it it may be a shock to all of you moronic fools, Its better to be
positive then negative. Something yoy learn in school... remember? Why be
negative at "PUT DOWN" others music is further than anyone can learn.
Now I will be back... again to check the responces to my message. I hope I
don't people saying stuff like, "HAHA... typos", "Get out!!!", "ITS NOT
MUSIC!", or messages with too much swearing or words like "SUCKS"... once
someone uses that to defend the opposition it gets real tired some to read
on! lol So please try not too or I will just not respond back like the other
messages I posted filled with anti-rap people diversing with ironic crap.

that kid.
MMyers6*6X = "metal came into popularities with
Ozzy, sabbath, priest, megadeth,Metallica ect in the 80's,and now its rap."
------Ummm You also said rap will turn like that music... sorry but even
Ozzy Osbourne said rap is to diverse and fun to be just a fade. He said it
cause right now he is in the studio with Busta Rhymes. Their doing a song
together and Ozzy is crossing into rap. And when this song comes out... Your
going to think and say... "BUSTA STOLE OZZY'S SONG!!! NO TALENT BEEF HEAD
BUSTA WILL DIE FOR THIS!!!" When in actual fact Busta is doing his material
and Ozzy is not use to making his own stuff and will reach into a trash bin
and use a old song for the duet.

Yep, I play guitar and have been invited to do a session. I don't
like rap, but this guy is my friend and I'll probably make money.

Umm...dumbass, maybe if you play Ska, Punk or Alternative but some
genres of rock preclude mass acceptance and record deals are hard to
come by.

The music industry is very hard for *anyone* to break into. I would
reckon that for rappers that record companies saw as commercially
viable entities, it wouldn't be. It's that way with any genre.
>If theirs still white people jumping to here puffy... or pathetic artists

>Although mainstream rappers like MC-Hammer (Album due 1999) and Puffy

Well, it's just like the people you mentioned like Cyrus, or the Spice
Girls or whatever (I won't comment on Rimes, since she has an
excellent voice and is only a unknowing pawn of record company
politics) they represent the most commercially viable aspects of a
genre, but you can't say that they represent every rock musician or
pop musician out there, just like saying that Puff and Ma$e shouldn't
be the ones to represent rap. If you possibly think that Rimes, Cyrus
and the Spice Girls are what all (non rap fans) white people listen
to, then you are presumptuous as well as very hypocritical.

Oh, wow, you turn around and say that popularity doesn't nessicarilly
equal quality (like Puff and Ma$e) yet you go on to comment that the
popularity of turntables as an "instrument" is a testement to their
quality. Hmm... I doubt you play guitar, not that I'd say being a DJ
is the easiest thing in the world, but I really really doubt that the
difficulty of "playing" a turntable could compare to learning a piece
by Paganini or even Bach.

I believe that you are refering to Drhaunting, which is most likely a
rap fan coming here to irritate the shit out of everyone. If you
actually think that he is representation for the rest of us, then he's

Oh, interesting, I recently addressed that since the leader of Led
Zeppilin collaborated with a rapper (Jimmy Page and Puff) that the
leader of their rivals, (Black Sabbath) would also collaborate with a
rapper, (Ozzy and Busta) although I thought it would've been Ozzy and
2Pac. :-)

I'll pass on a crusty old rocker trying to stay hip by hopping on the
latest bandwagon to promote their careers. Ozzy can say what he
wants. There is a difference between being sincere and being caught
up in the "zeitgeist" of the era in which you live.

Beyond words? No, it isn't, they are just words you don't know how to

Goodbye Jigga Lout. Thanks for building up my ego by becoming my
newest bitch.
You calling me a moron? I know you ain't calling me a moron? I won't
say your dumb cause I can't say that, but you need to watch who you
throw insults at....calling me an idiot....the nerve.
Ok but you still never said what Jigga Lout means.
> JUST YOUR OWN OPINION!
Isn't that what opinions usually are?
> ALL OF YOU ARE HICKS!!! PERIOD!
Why is it that when someone doesn't like rap, you assholes call them a
hick? I'm far from a hick. What if I said everyone that listens to rap
is a dirty nigger, eh? Wouldn't like it, would you? BTW, isn't that
sterotyping? Something you rappers get offended at when someone does to
you? Hmmm?
1) Get someone big to get you known
2) Get someone big to produce your stuff
3) Get someone big to promote you
As we all know, once you are big , no matter how nasty your songs are, MTV and
the people who want to be with it will buy it. And the only rappers who have
gotten big any other way was by starting from 1980s, when rap was considered
something else. Old School was great. Now this new flashy catchy stuff with
constant one hit wonders peeking their heads
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
When life give you lemons, you suck.
>Yay, more defense for the rap side. Do you want to know how most rap stars

Um...it's been that way for *everyone* for a long time now, not just
rappers.
